Yes @MsMarvellous it is a long journey isn't it. We used to do Hull to Bordeaux a lot as children. We broke the journey at Calais, Calais to the Dordogne was long enough!

MsMarvellous · 14/08/2022 17:25

Aye, we broke it up on the way down @OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea but have to be in work tomorrow so on balance thought a day of rest today was best 🥰

Whereabouts in the Dordogne are you staying?

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 14/08/2022 17:54

We're in Beaulieu sur Dordogne, it is lovely and the camp site is right on the river so lots of swimming. Where were you?

MsMarvellous · 14/08/2022 18:19

We were about 50 mins south of Limoges, just outside the Dordogne. We did drive down and do Rocamadour and the Monkey Forest one day though which was brilliant. That's not too far from you I don't think.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 14/08/2022 19:02

No, not far, we will probably be going one day. My family is from the general area so I spent a lot of time in the region as a child. I have fond monkey memories.

QuestionableMouse · 15/08/2022 19:15

Just had a very tiny rain shower! Need so much more but so nice to get some at least!

I went into the garden 😂😁

Anyone see the video of a dust devil in Brandon?

I first saw it on Guardian webpage, saying it was on a farm in Suffolk, but also stating that the vid was from County Durham and Darlington Fire Service!

There is a Brandon in Suffolk - but the sub-editor had clearly not engaged brain. Grin

Muppet! It was rather impressive, wasn't it? Probably terrifying to be near.

And yes, the sign was on the Burger Priest in the city centre. They were going to re-brandvasctye congregation after all their restaurants got such poor reviews. Noticed signs in the arnison centre one's window, this morning.

Also spotted shelves up in Boyeses.

Has anyone tried the chocolate protein pudding from Aldi? Im obsessed! It’s so nice and actually not that bad for you!

I’ve been to Mexico and rather predictably tested positive for covid on my return. Happily negative now!

Someaddedsugar · 18/08/2022 06:46

Hope you weren't too unwell with it @Florelei.

I'll have to get some of those puddings next time I'm in - you're the fourth person to say they're nice this week! Last week I stocked up on the chocolate puddings in the glass pots - so much nicer than Gu!

I can’t find them in my Aldi, are they in the pudding fridge? Can you post a picture of the label

hope you are ok with covid

AlviarinAesSedai · 18/08/2022 11:38

Hope you are okay and Covid isn’t too bad.
Can I wish the students getting their results today good luck. My DD got her grades so is going to her university first choice. I had a cry. I was so relieved. I have been so anxious.
Just read that Waitrose in Newcastle Eldon square is closing in a couple of months, I’m so sad. But online is still good.

Gilead · 18/08/2022 22:23

My day was really exciting today, the tip at Annfield Plain! Mind I can recommend the cake in House of Botanics, where we stopped on the way back!

I'm so pleased for her! 😁

Florelei · 19/08/2022 09:28

Thanks for all the good wishes - I really appreciate them! I’m pretty much back to normal now.

well done to your DD @AlviarinAesSedai !

@lifelongfrugaleer i go to Aldi Consett and they are at the top of the first aisle but on the end of the aisle not in the aisle - just as you go around the corner. I hope that makes sense!

this is them:

Very everyone. She isn’t going to a Russell Group university. So I shouldn’t be a mumsneter.

AlviarinAesSedai · 19/08/2022 21:27

Just checked out House of Botanics, the plants 🪴 look amazing, and 🍰 I’m sold.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/08/2022 07:31

They did make me chuckle @AlviarinAesSedai tbf I don’t know what a Russell group uni is or why it’s important so I won’t be a Mumsnetter with you

AlviarinAesSedai · 20/08/2022 09:36

Thanks @lifelongfrugaleer .
That was supposed to say Thanks everyone!

TattiePants · 20/08/2022 11:18

A quick question for Durham MNers, it’s years since I’ve been to the Arnison Centre, is the Nike Factory shop there any good and is it much cheaper? DS needs some plainish hoodies for sixth form so it’s either Adidas at Dalton Park or Nike at the AC.

AlviarinAesSedai · 20/08/2022 12:49

I have never noticed it being cheaper. Nike shop I mean.

AlviarinAesSedai · 20/08/2022 14:38

Anyone going to book the Luxmuralis at Durham Cathedral in October looks amazing. I’m definitely booking.

PickAChew · 20/08/2022 20:00

The Nike shop does have some bargains, @TattiePants .usualky last year's colours.

Well done to your DS, @AlviarinAesSedai . I hope she enjoys university (even if it's a former Poly!)

I'm gutted about the waitrose. That one actually sells some things that I can never get on my weekly order.

TattiePants · 20/08/2022 20:14

Thanks, we didn't get to the Arnison Centre today so might pop through next week.
