Pure Gym is still not open. Building behind Bells are looking good.
Hope everyone is still enjoying the weather, nice bit of sun and rain.

Someaddedsugar · 30/08/2022 20:21

When is Boyes meant to open?

OP posts:
AlviarinAesSedai · 30/08/2022 21:41

Not sure but it must soon.

Someaddedsugar · 31/08/2022 16:07

I walked past last Sunday and it didn't look like there was any stock out in Boyes yet but hoping it's before Halloween as the one in Darlington usually has some good bits and pieces and some good sweets.

Gosh hope is before Halloween!
Went to Durham today the swans were on river looking very magnificent 🦢. Tesco was dead with bits closed off! I’m going to enjoy the students being gone before it’s rammed again. Went to Waterstones to collect my Jamie Oliver book. Then left because too much temptation. I love a book shop.

AlviarinAesSedai · 03/09/2022 11:29

Have you managed to find a house yet @Someaddedsugar .Hope your DS enjoys school.
The house near you @PickAChew has sold, wonder what it went for.

PickAChew · 03/09/2022 22:49

Hopefully not much less than asking, @AlviarinAesSedai . It's already heavily discounted as it needs gutting and she's been trying to shift it since last summer (though would have shifted sooner had she been realistic about pricing, in the first place). Would be nice if new owners get in before mouse season.

It was the end of an era when Chester Le street bus depot closed, yesterday. The X21 runs from the Riverside depot near the metrocentre, now. Rather an amusing discussion on the bus basher Forum that Ds1 and I frequent with drivers new to the route getting lost in Durham, doing Laps of Wharton Park and one going the wrong way up Millburn gate and winding up squeezing past the Fighting Cocks. How a double decker didn't get stuck there, I have no idea.

AlviarinAesSedai · 03/09/2022 23:01

Gosh that was quick with the Chester depot closing. I was wondering why they saying end of an era on the Save Chester le street Facebook page.
I heard they don’t get long to learn a route. I remember years ago on a bus that went around the world ( felt like it) the bus passengers shouting instructions to the driver. I never learnt the route I always had my head in my 📕.
Will be a lovely house when done up.

Someaddedsugar · 04/09/2022 06:51

We're still looking @AlviarinAesSedai. The one we did offer on near St Leonard's has now sold and I'm curious to know what that went for.

We offered on two in Darlington, one went to a cash buyer who offered slightly less than us, and the other was rejected and the house then taken off the market without explanation. We weren't even given the option to increase our offer.

That's a shame about the bus depot. I hadn't realised it was closing. How on earth did a bus get up that street in Durham! I thought it would be a bit like taxi drivers where you had to know various routes etc before starting work.

DS starts on Tuesday @AlviarinAesSedai and I'm feeling v emotional about it as it feels like he's growing up too quickly!

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/09/2022 08:03

They are Quite a few popping up for sale some. Depends what you are looking for and your budget though, annoying they took it off with no explanation

i remember darlington bus station closing and now they are talking about building a new one

Someaddedsugar · 04/09/2022 08:59

@lifelongfrugaleer I've noticed they come up often - I honestly think we're too fussy and we need to sit down and work out what we'll compromise on.

I can remember the Darlington bus station from when I was younger and the carpet place opposite that burnt down.

We went for a walk yesterday as we're in Darlington for the weekend and the yards all look lovely - it looks like there's been a lot of investment recently.

Good luck with your continuing house search.
On the Facebook page they are all wanting a drive through McDonald’s/Starbucks etc. I would hate it! That roundabout is a nightmare already.
Can I also say it’s raining and forecast for next two weeks. I’ve already had enough.
Winter is coming the nights are drawing in and I hate it.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/09/2022 13:52

Lots of investments with the new government hub being here, which is what was the carpel place back in the day

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/09/2022 13:53

we were super fussy and after settling twice both sales fell through and we got everything we wanted here, well 95%

it will happen

QuestionableMouse · 04/09/2022 20:11

I caught Covid last summer in Darlington so I don't feel too kindly towards the place 🤔😂😂

TattiePants · 06/09/2022 13:44

Has anyone seen the Tour of Britain today? They will be cycling past the end of my street in the next couple of hours so might pop down and give them a cheer.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/09/2022 16:48

Dh went to stain drop and Barney to see them. ‘‘Twas good but wet apparently

PickAChew · 06/09/2022 17:27

At least they'll stop whinging about the road closures on Nextdoor, {mention:tattiepants}.@tattiepants. Some miserable gits on there.

TattiePants · 06/09/2022 17:31

@PickAChew i had to delete Nextdoor as it was full of people moaning. I popped down to watch them and it was really good! We were even on TV.

Someaddedsugar · 06/09/2022 17:43

I went to pick DS up from school and the roads must have closed temporarily around Neville's Cross - lots of v angry drivers 😂.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/09/2022 19:55

I deleted next door cos morning, it seemed quite well organized to me

AlviarinAesSedai · 08/09/2022 08:27

They were putting shelves in Boyes at Arnison. A couple of days ago.

Someaddedsugar · 08/09/2022 17:36

My FIL has said Boyes opens on the 23rd - I hope it does well!
