The sun was nice while it lasted!

QuestionableMouse · 14/08/2023 16:09

Absolutely hammering down in Hartlepool currently!

SinnerBoy · 14/08/2023 16:11

I'm on a ship in the Baltic, South of Sweden. It's lovely here.

Sorry to be smug!

AlviarinAesSedai · 14/08/2023 16:39

Is it light all the time? Where you are @SinnerBoy

TheSummerySilveryPussycat · 14/08/2023 22:10

Drove from Crook to Durham about 8pm with the rain absolutely lashing down, so much so that I feared encountering a flash flood.

Does anyone remember the supercell of ?June 2012 (I'm sure of the year). I got stuck on the way back from Durham and had to pull over for 2 hours IIRC, then kept having to detour along increasingly remote back roads to get round all the floods.

No, we're right at the southern end, between Sweden and Denmark. I have been up in the far North of Norway and had the midnight sun.

And the Northern Lights, in 2020.

I think I was driving home from work in that and had to pull over because the road had turned into a river! Was really scary!

AlviarinAesSedai · 21/08/2023 20:17

Did the house hunting go well @RagzRebooted ?
Did your DS complete the Shawn the sheep trail? @Someaddedsugar .
The weather is so unpredictable. Pleased they cleared the wear again, but there is already a huge tree trunk back already.
The geese have had to move to opposite bank with all the rain, still very noisy. But the pair of 🦢 are magnificent. And they have a cygnet.

Someaddedsugar · 21/08/2023 21:46

@AlviarinAesSedai we found 7! We're going to have another look this Sunday. He really enjoyed it - thanks for sharing!

I'm pleased the rain has stopped but we seem to have wind replacing the rain 🤦🏻‍♀️.

Hope everyone's had a good start to their week!

Gorgeous pup @QuestionableMouse!

I will message you soon @lifelongfrugaleer. Work has been quite hectic and I seem to have forgotten all of my own to-do list items and picked up new work ones 🙄

Thank you!

Had a glorious afternoon at the beach yesterday - feeling a bit sunburned but the kiddos really enjoyed it!

Stunning photo’s.
Wha’s the traffic been like outside your house this week @PickAChew

TheSummerySilveryPussycat · 25/08/2023 18:22

@AlviarinAesSedai are you referring to the re-surfacing of Fram Front St? I was trapped at home for an hour the other day, as I live just off Front St and therefore couldn't leave my own residential car park! It's been fascinating to see, and I will post some photos when I've got more time.

(I'm not @PickAChew but I know I don't live far away from her Smile)

PickAChew · 25/08/2023 18:28

It's not been that bad, @AlviarinAesSedai -probably helps that it's the school holidays. I've been stuck in with covid most of the week, anyhow! I needed to pop into the chemist this afternoon, mind, and the rollers were bloody deafening (and no ear defenders in sight). The new surface is lovely but no sign of the humps and chicanes that people (including DH) have been frothing about and they're due to finish, tomorrow.

DS2 has been amused by the buses that were clearly diverting from their usual route purely for his entertainment, of course.

AlviarinAesSedai · 25/08/2023 18:47

Yes, Fram front street resurfacing @TheSummerySilveryPussycat . I have been following theweighttoshop and they are posting photos. Going to be lovely to drive on when completed.
I would hate to be trapped, because as soon as I couldn’t leave, I would want to!

AlviarinAesSedai · 25/08/2023 18:52

Yes, the bus have diverted, at least I now know where the nearest bus stop to Aldi/home bargains is now 😆
Was nice your DS was pleased. @PickAChew
Shocking no ear defenders, but hopefully they are at least using the little orange ear buds. We have hundreds because DH uses then! I find them on floor and in my bloody washing machine!

TheSummerySilveryPussycat · 25/08/2023 19:39

The zebra crossing is now slightly higher with gentle ramps, but they haven't painted it back yet.

Florelei · 25/08/2023 19:48

I was caught up in the Fram front street works this morning. I needed to collect a parcel from the convenience store. Tried to approach from past greggs and then had to head around to approach from the Arnison roundabout.

I ended up parking in a residential street and having to quickly walk up to the shop. I felt a bit sorry for the residents as the street was clearly being used for parking and it was busy.

AlviarinAesSedai · 25/08/2023 20:28

The weight to shop were advising using New College. I think it’s been a bit of a nightmare for business.

PickAChew · 25/08/2023 20:51

The coop has only just got its car park back in use, today. The odd person has been able to get through but most people have ended up parking in the bus gate.

talking of which, I wonder if they’ve fixed the big crater in the middle of that. (I wasn’t paying attention, today because it started tipping down when I passed it) The road where the buses stop was visibly sinking.

AlviarinAesSedai · 25/08/2023 23:19

It certainly rained ☔️🌧️🌈🌦️🌧️today.

twistyizzy · 26/08/2023 10:23

Beautiful morning this morning at 5am

I was barely inconvenienced, for residents living on the side streets things weren't as tricky as they were for "outsiders" Wink I was feeding a neighbour's cats a few streets up from here, still in the same residents area, and it was mostly fine. The few hiccups I encountered were no real bother.

Here they are stripping off the old road surface.

You'll need to actually click on the pix to fully appreciate them.

TheSummerySilveryPussycat · 26/08/2023 16:13

We residents, you see, being superior, could drive in and out of the restricted area at practically any time. It was very well organised and I didn't have to divert to get anywhere Smile

Disclaimer: I'm retired, and let's say I don't get up very early...
