Well the rain came early. Doesn't the weather read the forecasts?

SinnerBoy · 17/06/2023 17:52

It's just started here now.

Whiskeypowers · 17/06/2023 18:53

Started then stopped again

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/06/2023 19:29

Sorry it's the scout fair effect. Every year it rains on our day

SinnerBoy · 17/06/2023 20:39

Yes, as soon as I'd taken the washing in, it stopped. It's supposed to be heavy rain tomorrow, so we may need to postpone our visit to the Hoppings.

QuestionableMouse · 18/06/2023 00:03

No rain today in Hartlepool 😑🙁 Wish it would storm - I've had a headache all day from the heat and how muggy it's been!

AlviarinAesSedai · 18/06/2023 17:01

Hopefully it does rain and puts out the fire near Newcastle airport.
I can’t wait for the thunderstorms and lightning ⚡️.
Yesterday I went and sat outside in the rain. Feels very muggy today.
Hope Father’s Day was great, I just gave my DF a big hug, because he’s a man with no wants. DH just received lots and I mean lots of sweets.

AlviarinAesSedai · 18/06/2023 17:14

Here comes the rain, here comes the rain ☔️

PickAChew · 18/06/2023 18:17

And it didn't come in gently.

Spent an enjoyable few hours doing old bus stuff with Eldest at the Howlands rally, this afternoon. He bought himself one of the number plates off a scrapped Scarlet Band bus 😅

AlviarinAesSedai · 18/06/2023 18:31

Thats great PickAChew, and the weather held out.
I hadn’t seen anything about the bus event at Howlands! And I’ve been on Park and Ride bus twice this week!
I follow Robson Green and he’s filming another weekend series. The viewing figures must have been very good.

TheSummerySilveryPussycat · 18/06/2023 19:38

Went to Lanchester with a friend, and my adult DD, to watch some of the vehicles on the Beamish Reliability Run on their way back to Beamish.

I'd have loved to have seen the old buses as well. Is it an annual rally?

PickAChew · 18/06/2023 20:37

It is, @TheSummerySilveryPussycat - every father's day at the P&R site.

xsquared · 22/06/2023 07:57

It does seem sappier this year, as the cat keeps coming in with leaves and debris.

So many new places to eat and try in Durham, but it's so sad to see shops closing with To Let signs.

We were in Durham on Saturday and bought a picnic lunch from Lazeez which us a small place that does falafel wraps and pitta. Portions are very generous, and the falafel are very good.

PickAChew · 22/06/2023 16:46

All these lovely new places make me.even more annoyed about giving up gluten!

AlviarinAesSedai · 24/06/2023 18:58

Gosh it is too hot for me!
Anyone at the Stone Valley music festival at Ushaw College. We can heard it last night, in garden! And we are miles away.
Went Broom House today, there are kids, so cute(so billy no mates did his duty 😆)
The ducklings that were little, are no longer little.

Whiskeypowers · 25/06/2023 20:55

What happened to the thunder?!?!
was so excited for a massive downpour and storm to clear the air all we had was about forty minutes of heavy at times rain
😩

AlviarinAesSedai · 25/06/2023 21:10

And it hasn’t cleared the air!!
Still too hot for me! I was loosing forward to the thunder.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/06/2023 06:49

One thunder clap, one. It's cool now as I walk to work but it's feeling like it's gonna be hot

My wife was in Durham yesterday, she took our two Ukrainian women over. It didn't rain at all, but from 3pm, we had a series of heavy showers and thunder.

They went to eat in what used to be an Italian, now Turkish, by the bridge. A minimum of £20 for a pizza - they left and found somewhere else!

AlviarinAesSedai · 26/06/2023 09:23

I was confused about the was an Italian but now Turkish, because was Rib and Beef before Turkish. It’s been a while since was an Italian! If is were I think, was a French bistro before Rib and beef.
Durham certainly has lots of choices, most not cheap, especially if you want to sit in.

QuestionableMouse · 05/07/2023 23:15

Anyone coming to Hartlepool for the Tall Ships? Watching them come in on marine traffic, will hopefully see some tomorrow when i drive through Seaton 😁

AlviarinAesSedai · 06/07/2023 09:00

That sounds amazing, QuestionableMouse . I can remember how amazing when they were at Newcastle Quayside.

Durham Miners Gala Saturday, love the history and the day, but I can’t do the crowds, it’s too busy for me.
Looks like the weather will be great too.
We have been back to Coarse, the food is just so delicious.

AlviarinAesSedai · 06/07/2023 09:11

Anyone been to Faru restaurant? I have booked but it’s not until middle of August.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 08/07/2023 15:12

Early start getting dc1 in to down for the Big Meet. We hung around for the morning, it was a lovely atmosphere. I expect the drunken and messy side of the gala will develop later on. Bailed out around lunch time when the rain started
Poor dc has to stay until the bitter end.
Their band was brilliant though, epic performances during the marching and on the racecourse.

QuestionableMouse · 08/07/2023 15:16

At the tall ships now. Raining hard unfortunately but I'm still having fun 😊
