Obviously most have never been to Durham

AlviarinAesSedai · 15/02/2023 23:46

Home Bargains opening Saturday the 18th.
Hope everyone is having a good half term or next week. Most of Durham has to be next week.
Saw my first lambs of the year(normal field). I love them when they are tiny 😆.

lifelongfrugaleer · 16/02/2023 06:13

Love home bargains, the extended one in town D is great

half term next week here and everyone is shattered even though not a long term

AlviarinAesSedai · 16/02/2023 09:19

I was always pleased when half term was different weeks. When my children were small and I needed half term off!
The weather has been really good this week, especially for half term.
Home Bargains is definitely cheaper than B&M now.

SinnerBoy · 16/02/2023 09:31

Hello, thread and thread people!

The beer in Whitley Bay B&M is usually more expensive than in Morrison's. But at least it's mild today, so walking the dog was pleasant.

PacificCoastHighway · 17/02/2023 20:46

Welcome @SinnerBoy - are you based in Whitley Bay? We visited on a gorgeous day in the summer and the kids really enjoyed it.

I am glad the wind has died down a bit - hope the weather is ok for half term!

PacificCoastHighway · 27/02/2023 21:43

Did anyone visit Fire and Ice at the weekend? We popped in for a little while on Saturday and there were quite big queues to see the sculptures.

AlviarinAesSedai · 27/02/2023 22:30

No, was going to but couldn’t be bothered. Pleased it was a success. The sculptures looked good SM.

Someaddedsugar · 05/03/2023 22:44

We have finally moved to town D! I haven't a clue where anything is in the new house so going to work tomorrow will be interesting!

I'm hoping the cold weather holds off this week as I really don't like the sound of the -7 temperatures that have been mentioned on the news 🥶.

@Someaddedsugar Congrats on the house move! I hope you get settled in quickly.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/03/2023 06:16

I’m in town D if you want to PM me
congratulations on the move

SinnerBoy · 06/03/2023 07:52

PacificCoastHighway · 17/02/2023 20:46

Welcome are you based in Whitley Bay?

I am indeed, 100 yards from the beach.

AlviarinAesSedai · 06/03/2023 15:29

Congratulations on your move @Someaddedsugar .

SinnerBoy · 06/03/2023 18:10

We've just had a short, but intense hail shower, my daughter went out the back to try and catch some on her tongue.

Someaddedsugar · 06/03/2023 19:13

Thank you everyone 😊.

We had a tiny flurry of snow (all of two minutes) but it's very cold outside!

Violetparis · 06/03/2023 19:20

Does anyone know if there are any women's walking groups or similar in the Whitley Bay area ?

ThreeB · 06/03/2023 19:32

Went over to Stokesley earlier and got the smallest of flurries. I can see the hills from my bedroom and they don't look snowy yet. Got to head across the 66 on Wednesday so hoping it holds off until we get home

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/03/2023 06:17

Sorry don’t know about the walking group
i do know it’s flipping cold for my walk to the office today

SinnerBoy · 07/03/2023 07:13

Violetparis · Yesterday 19:20

Does anyone know if there are any women's walking groups or similar in the Whitley Bay area ?

There seem to be some walking and rambling groups in North Tyneside / Northumberland, but none seem to be solely for women. There is glamoraks, but I'm not sure if they're local:

These may be able to help:

SinnerBoy · 07/03/2023 07:13

Anyway we've had about 4cm / 1.5 inches of snow, I measured it on the garage roof.

Someaddedsugar · 07/03/2023 07:36

We've got icy windscreens but no snow (yet). I'm jealous of your snow!

Thank you for the links Sinnerboy, really appreciate it

SinnerBoy · 07/03/2023 07:58

I hope you find something useful in them, Violet !

Violetparis · 07/03/2023 08:11

Thank you !

SinnerBoy · 08/03/2023 07:28

I thought it had snowed overnight, but when I went out to get the milk, I saw that it's all hailstones, several mm thick, completely covering everything.
