Yes Boris is a buffoon but........

NC as I know I will get flamed and also because of opinions around me personally and the vitriol I know I will receive from my point of view. I wanted to know if there are others out there.

So....... First of all, I despise all the shit that has happened 're partygate / watching porn / groping and sexual misconduct massively. I think the Tories in general have been scrum of the earth, thinking they can get away with vile behaviour and thinking they are untouchable.

What I do think (which I know On mn is blasphemy) is that Boris is a great PM that has balls. He obviously lacks in other areas like keeping grown elected men and women in his party under control and not behave like horny teenagers on their first holiday! They are the ones I worry about, he may have been a soft touch boss but surely the party could see that and his strengths were elsewhere? The fact he didn't crumble when the odds were against him. The party are showing their true colours now and I hate the Tories but respect Boris more. go hate me

A great PM with balls 😂

He has no morals and couldn't lie straight in bed.

I no longer live in the UK (thank fuck) but Boris is on par with Trump. Absolutely nothing to brag about.

allthesharks · 09/07/2022 00:39

Where exactly were his strengths?

nocoolnamesleft · 09/07/2022 00:41

He's a lying, racist, misogynistic, hypocritical, lawbreaking scumbag.

Do explain how he’s ‘a great PM’.

I’m all ears.

audweb · 09/07/2022 00:46

I generally think PM’s that break the law (and especially ones they make) are not good at their job.

SeemsSoUnfair · 09/07/2022 00:46

Buffoon? Dont be ridiculous, he is dangerous for this country and it is terrifying the further damage he and his corrupt cabinet can do if they remain in power until autumn. In two short years he has made the UK a global joke that will take decades to recover from.

QueenOfHiraeth · 09/07/2022 00:48

You should know OP that you will get flamed for daring to express an opinion outside of the MN hive mind or for trying to have an intelligent discussion about it Grin
My question is where are the civil servants these days and what are they doing? I thought the "Sir Humphreys" were there to advise and guide politicians while remaining neutral and acting in the best interests of the country yet this government seem to have careered from one cock up to the next amid endless untraced leaks and shambles. As an example, if a minister is asked did he or she know something or what happened, surely, civil servants would have meeting minutes, etc and could inform them? How is everything so shit if they are doing their jobs properly? Were they advising and being ignored or, more worryingly, were they not doing their jobs right and undermining an elected government?

allthesharks · 09/07/2022 00:49

In my view, he is a person who is incredibly unselfaware. Even when his own party members were against him, he couldn't see what he had done wrong. He isn't a good spokesperson, he can't debate an issue. He responds with things not relevant to the point and picks up on the tiny point he can relate something positive to (whilst never addressing the negatives, even if they're of more value). He's basically a salesman - full of bluster and always assumes he's more intelligent than his audience so they should fall for his BS, which is maybe the biggest insult.

Gubu · 09/07/2022 00:52

Give it up, Carrie, no one is buying it.

TheScenicWay · 09/07/2022 00:54

It's all the lying that brought him down. Why did he lie so much? People would have respected him more if he admitted to his mistakes, took responsibility and apologised.
But he kept on lying and treated the public like fools.
That doesn't win you any support.

darisdet · 09/07/2022 00:57

Gubu · 09/07/2022 00:52

🤣

I was just going to say the same!

Anotheronebitesthecheese · 09/07/2022 01:07

I actually agree with Widdicombe that he is chaotic and should be supported.

Do you think Keir would have had the balls to achieve what he has? I doubt it. With the right people behind him he would have done a much better job.

Why can't people see beyond people's opinions of the whole party? He delivered Brexit , dealt with a pandemic, now war in Ukraine! What the hell would kier starmer have done? He is good at closing speeches with zero content. I dislike them all! There is not one politician in the last 3 years that has given me hope. What I'm saying is, Boris gets on with things. What would happen if he actually had decent people behind him

They all lie ffs!!!!!

OP posts:
Anotheronebitesthecheese · 09/07/2022 01:11

There is no utopia with politicians that don't lie. If you think that then give your head a shake! That world will never exist. We need a PM with balls and the right people behind them full stop!

OP posts:
PastMyBestBeforeDate · 09/07/2022 01:16

He didn't have the balls though, that's part of the problem. He's driven by his glory and so many decisions were reversed by public opinion, rightly or wrongly. He has a very thin skin. He wants to be adored and cannot cope when he isn't.

Nancydrawn · 09/07/2022 01:18

Oh for heaven's sake.

He wasn't extraordinarily good in the pandemic. Certainly not above the ordinary for the G7. Ditto for Ukraine. He's been supportive and that's been great, but it's nothing that others wouldn't do.

As for Brexit, he's made a colossal shitshow of it. Northern Ireland is a disaster, the projected growth for Britain is fucked, and he hasn't figured out a way to bridge the hardline of his party and what's best for the future.

He doesn't have balls. And he's a liar who drags down the people around him.

ProfessorFusspot · 09/07/2022 01:18

He should take his own advice at this point, I think:
LEAVE MEANS LEAVE!

Raab is perfectly capable of handling things for a couple of months.

This is so gross.

Funny how it's always the Tory supporters who say "they all lie, they're all as bad as each other".

Absolutely! I am pondering the same. It is all so cloak in dagger, we need to read between the lines. This bollocks of MPs quitting is leaving a very sour taste in my mouth, I wanted to open the discussion that is why I raise the question

Oh dear agreeing with Ann Widdecombe, OP! She was attempting to make excuses for him but I don't recall her saying he should be supported.

Yawn, when did I say I was? Why do staunch anti Tory say this in a discussion rather than contribute? I dislike both parties. I wish a new party would form but it doesn't seem likely.

I'm so sick of reading Boris apologists pieces. Sorry, op, nothing personal but I couldn't disagree more.

He is utterly amoral.

Don't mistake his refusal to give in as anything more than selfish arrogance, a deeply embedded entitlement and fury at being beaten.

He doesn't give a sh*t for anyone or anything but his own ambition.

Ted27 · 09/07/2022 01:34

@QueenOfHiraeth

this is not the fault of the civil service.
The CS is there to implement the policies of the government of the day. Yes it advises but it is up to Ministers to take decisions.

Its been well publicised recently that Home Office staff are vehementally opposed to the Rwanda policy. It’s being implemented. If the Secretary of State orders a policy to be implemented there is nothing a civil servant can do except resign.
Yes of course government meetings are recorded. However, the Civil service is not there to record or advise on Party matters.
