Do you get your boiler serviced annually?

Just that really. If you own your home do you get an annual service?

We didn't last year, just wondering if it's one of those things people never miss like a car service or if people don't bother.

Absolutely always. We pay for a package with a local company who service annually and deal with any issues throughout the year.

NannyR · 07/07/2022 21:13

Yes, because otherwise the 10 year warranty isn't valid.

LubaLuca · 07/07/2022 21:14

Yes, without fail. It costs about £50, probably will be a bit more this year like everything else.

dementedpixie · 07/07/2022 21:14

Yes. I have boiler cover with British gas and it offers an annual service as part of it

cloverleafy · 07/07/2022 21:14

Yes

User74936782 · 07/07/2022 21:14

We do but we have a package, people that don't have a package probably don't as often, simply because you are not reminded and it is easy to put off.

dudsville · 07/07/2022 21:15

We do, i can't recall if the warranty is linked, we just always have.

Isleoftights · 07/07/2022 21:18

No.....boiler is over 25 years old, never been 'serviced'. As there are no moving parts in a gas boiler, what is there to service ? Total con, save your money, and if and when it breaks down, then you call in someone to fix it.

Aposterhasnoname · 07/07/2022 21:19

Yes, it’s part of the package we pay for, and the guarantee would be invalid if we didn’t.

SpottyStripyDuvet · 07/07/2022 21:22

Yes as part of a package. Mine was done yesterday. I pay for peace of mind that I just ring a number if something goes wrong.

Yup we’re the same. Plumber contacts me each year who installed it and just books it in

I kind of agree. The guy who came to "service" my boiler literally plugged in his Henry hover, gave it a whiz round and charged £65.

QuebecBagnet · 07/07/2022 21:26

Haven’t had it serviced in over 20 years. It’s still working. 🤷‍♀️ It stopped working once, dh googled the fault code, ordered a new part and fitted it. It worked again.

Dh says the same. Says boiler services are a big con.

gingercat02 · 07/07/2022 21:28

Nope. Never have unless we are selling

ReeseWitherfork · 07/07/2022 21:28

9/10 years. Seem to forget every now and again. It’s cost £50 for as long as I can remember. We forgot to get it serviced last winter so did it last week and it was £75 😱 that’s some serious increase!

twinsufficient · 07/07/2022 21:28

People who aren't getting their boiler serviced, don't you worry about potential carbon monoxide leaks that could be missed?

NothingIsWrong · 07/07/2022 21:30

Yes. Costa £90. He spends about an hour cleaning bits, we have a filter as very hard water and he rinses it out etc.

Nope. We have alarms.

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 07/07/2022 21:33

I try to get it serviced every other year but I have CO detectors by the boiler and in our bedroom.

Margo34 · 07/07/2022 21:33

Yes, because otherwise our warranty is invalid.

Yes, because we live in a hard water area and the boiler gets clogged with limescale and dirt otherwise.

Yes, because I don't want carbon monoxide poisoning.

EncroachingLoaf · 07/07/2022 21:34

Usually yes but last year I forgot 😳 it was the last year of the warranty so I suppose it doesn't matter really. It is relatively new and we have a carbon monoxide detector.

I will probably try to get it serviced this winter, providing I have any money left after energy bills 🙄

user1487194234 · 07/07/2022 21:35

Yes
It’ s a safety issue I think

minuette1 · 07/07/2022 21:38

Yes we do, every year. We are with British Gas homecare and they remind us when it needs doing.

Yorshiregass32 · 07/07/2022 21:41

Thanks everyone.
