That's going above and beyond newname ! - maybe the ride has turned.

I occasionally venture into Mail comments if only to see how many red downvotes I can accumulate. I have noticed recently that most BTL comments are quite heavily against both Johnson and most of the current government, although it has to be said that a fairly large proportion loved the Rwanda policy.

I am quite proud of having been the most downvoted on the Mail on one article and also the most upvoted on another article. It might have been something about WW2 that got me upvoted. But most of mine regularly get downvotes.

How do you even see the comments? I couldn't see any when I clicked on the article link.

AmaryIlis · 04/07/2022 07:28

They don't always have comments, but when they do they are at the foot of the article. There is usually also a link at the top saying something like "649 comments" that you can click on to take you straight there.

Zonder · 04/07/2022 07:39

I can't see any comment number at the top or comments at the bottom. Maybe it's my phone?

No idea about the phone app, I only access it via my laptop.

Zonder · 04/07/2022 08:09

Not a phone app - just opened the website on my phone.

DuncinToffee · 04/07/2022 08:15

I couldn't find the comments on that piece either Zonder

DuncinToffee · 04/07/2022 08:17

Just don't ask questions if you don't wanr to know the answer

Sally Nugent - How much did Boris Johnson know about Chris Pincher & at what point?

Will Quince - I asked No.10 firmly & clearly... & the PM wasn't aware of any specific allegations

SN - Was he aware of general allegations?

WQ - I haven't asked those questions

Notonthestairs · 04/07/2022 08:21

I haven't seen anything of Quince before - maybe they are running out of MPs willing to go in front of the cameras for Johnson.

Either way nobody is listening to their carefully worded answers any more.

“The dogs on the street in Westminster knew what Chris Pincher’s behaviour was like…” says @bbcnickrobinson

Downing Street first said the Prime Minister wasn't aware of "any allegation" against Chris Pincher, then said he wasn't aware of any "specific allegation" against him. Now we're told the PM wasn't aware of any "serious specific allegation."

no, because it’s like watching a badly written courtroom drama. It’s all smoke and mirrors instead of just a straight answer and it’s boring being constantly lied to by omission.

Cornettoninja · 04/07/2022 08:48

It all very Jimmy Saville-esq.

schrodinger's politician - he both is and isn’t inappropriate but nobody knows for sure until they look.

Yes! I've been noticing more and more lately they play politics on semantics rather than actual fact and substance.

newnamethanks · 04/07/2022 08:49

Oh Susanna Reid! I feel a bit sorry for this poor sap, Quince. Not that sorry though. He's taking a battering but, frankly, lie down with dogs, get up with fleas, etc. No wonder the rest of them are cowering out of sight, I expect they have 'urgent constituency business' to attend to, mostly comprising trying to hang onto their seat.

There are reports that junior ministers are being sent onto the airwaves to defend the PM over the Pincher controversy instead of reluctant Cabinet ministers

It's also that the answers aren't really the point? It's more interesting who is and isn't being trotted out to give them.

Cornettoninja · 04/07/2022 10:07

@ApplesandBunions it is but I don’t like this kind of politicking. I think if an MP is trotted out to say something there should be some substance behind it iyswim.

I suppose I see it as more evidence of the preposterous place our country is in. It’s more blustering taking up time and space that should be spent on actual issues we’re facing. And it all traces back to that lump of Eton mess who just can’t deal with anything decisively or admit he’s capable of making an error of judgement.

Agree. We'll have Larry the Cat sat on a chair soon.

Who has heard of Quince? I certainly haven't. BBC's Sally said that cabinet Ministers are banding together to refuse to go out and Quince denied that.

So... in 2017 he referred himself to the Police for groping/assaulting an Olympic rower, it was in the MSM, but BJ didn't know? Come off of it, we're not stupid.

WaitroseWoman · 04/07/2022 10:09

but, frankly, lie down with dogs, get up with fleas, etc.
I think it has got to the point where we are all getting fleas from Big Dog and his mangy pack. The whole country is being tainted.

vera99 · 04/07/2022 10:14

It's no stretch of the imagination that Johnson's Brexit omnishambles has had the greatest part in breaking our great country. The real traitors are in government and in power - they belong in prison, not parliament.

No, Larry the Cat would have too much self respect. Either he would refuse to sit on the chair at all or he would sit there washing his bum, which would say it all really.

itsgettingweird · 04/07/2022 10:25

Lump of Eton mess just had me laughing so much ds came off his PC to check on me.

He is now also laughing and probably texting it to his friends 🤣🤣
