Favourite Beatles song

This is off the back of a baby name thread. Someone said prudence and a poster said dear prudence is their favourite Beatles song. I've had it on repeat since, it's not one I'd listened to much before.

I'd normally say here there and everywhere is my favourite.

For No One
And Your Bird Can Sing
Things We Said Today
Here There and Everywhere

The above are just songs I love but I would say objectively speaking, the best Beatles song, just in terms of lyrics, composition, everything is Whilst My Guitar Gently Weeps. It's sublime, just a cut above their other songs.

mcplant · 27/06/2022 21:16

Blackbird

In My Life is just perfect
When I'm 64

HeyMicky · 27/06/2022 21:32

The harmonies on If I Fell are my favourite.

Otherwise I was going to say Dear Prudence!

Itwasntmeright · 27/06/2022 21:44

Mother Nature’s Son for the guitar. It’s bloody hard to play, far more difficult than Blackbird.

A Day In The Life

Eleanor Rigby

Side 2 of Abbey Road

IWanderedLonely · 27/06/2022 21:51

She's Leaving Home
Norwegian Wood
Eleanor Rigby

This thread's reminded me that I have an LP of Beatles Ballads somewhere . . .

Ginajo · 27/06/2022 22:08

So hard to choose....So i will choose 5

I'll follow the sun
Hey Jude
Here, there and everywhere
Golden slumbers
Twist and Shout

If I had to choose one it would be I'll follow the sun. Simple and beautiful.

ALongHardWinter · 27/06/2022 22:12

Oh so difficult to choose! I love 'If I fell'. The way Paul and John's voices harmonise is just beautiful. I also love 'She came in through the bathroom window'. Like a previous poster, the words 'So I quit the Police Department, and got myself a steady job',always make me smile.

We had I Will played during the signing of the register at our wedding. Short but lovely

yesterdaytoday · 27/06/2022 22:17

I think Here, There and Everywhere is a perfect song. It’s just sublime. But I still couldn’t choose one favourite Beatles song.

I loved Macca’s Glastonbury performance, especially the bit where he was singing with John. How amazing were those two boys? We’ll never see the like again.

Picksomethingatrandom · 27/06/2022 22:27

My first dance when I got married was Something.

SisterRuth · 27/06/2022 22:33

There's A Place on the Please Please Me album. It makes me very nearly scream!

I've got about 200 second favourites including: No Reply, Ticket to Ride, Another Girl, This Boy, Til There Was You, Fool on the Hill, Help, Yesterday, Hard Day's Night, She Loves You, You're Going to Lose That Girl, Nowhere Man, Girl .......

I really need to discover more Beatles songs. I only know the famous ones. My faves are Here Comes The Sun and Something.

Whenever I ask Alexa to play an artist they always play the obvious songs whereas if like to hear ones I've never heard before! I have to skip about 20!

If you keep going you'll eventually get to Glass Onion and Bungalow Bill!

I've just listened to Everybody's got something to hide except me and my monkey, which makes me smile, and discovered Polythene Pam which is just brilliant.

LethargeMarg · 27/06/2022 22:37

Can't pick one but some of my favourites:
In my life
Blackbird
Tomorrow never knows - to be honest it was when it was played in mad men to signify the start of the swinging sixties when I fell in love with this song

Fancydancer1934 · 27/06/2022 22:48

Saw her standing there! Saw Paul McCartney play it at the NEC with Linda about b30!years ago. Great concert

Meandyouandyouandme · 27/06/2022 22:50

Also would struggle to pick one but I was in the crowd on Saturday singing along to Blackbird and it was amazing, what a fantastic performance Paul gave, completely blown away, and I was crying several times it was so overwhelming!

easyday · 27/06/2022 22:57

Have you watched Get Back? Omg these guys were so talented. They could play just about anything by anybody and they were so young!! George Harrison was only 26 when he wrote Something and Here Comes the Sun and wrote While My Guitar Gently Weeps at 25! Paul was a year older and only 20 when their first album was released.
I couldn't possibly name a favourite song or even album.

yesterdaytoday · 27/06/2022 23:01

How lucky are you, @Meandyouandyouandme ? I’ve seen Paul in concert three times, once with Wings when I was a kid, but what you saw on Saturday was one for the history books. Realistically, it was probably his last UK concert. Treasure your memories of it forever - there will never be another Paul.

elp30 · 27/06/2022 23:51

Don't Let Me Down
Got to Get You Into My Life
A Day in the Life
Dig a Pony
Oh! Darling
Something
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Why Don't We Do it on the Road
I've Got a Feeling

elp30 · 27/06/2022 23:55

I cannot believe I forgot to add:

Eleanor Rigby
Here Comes the Sun
Hey Bulldog

augustusglupe · 27/06/2022 23:59

The long and winding road
Let it be

Colouringaddict · 28/06/2022 00:05

In My Life which I had played at my DF funeral whilst a photo album was shown on the screens.

Something still sends shivers

hazandduck · 28/06/2022 00:05

Didn’t one of the Gallagher brothers once say, in answer to this question, “your favourite Beatle song is whichever one you’re listening to.” Pretty accurate!

Let it be, as someone else said, is always a stop
me in my tracks song. I also love Aretha Franklin’s version 😍

Ah, my mum had that album when I was growing up. It's very lovely and often quite melancholy.
I love "For No One"
