What's in your dream full/cooked breakfast?

AlpacaTheBags · 26/06/2022 16:06

For me

Fried or grilled mushrooms. Never tinned
A fried egg
Potato scone
Crispy bacon
A square sausage might be nice
A piece of black pudding or haggis

With tea but I wouldn't say no to coffee instead. And preferably also a small glass of fruit juice.

On occasion I like some fried cubes of potato with rosemary and sometimes tofu scramble if I want a vegetarian breakfast.

Also it must be served for lunch or dinner as I don't eat breakfast.

What's on yours?

I love Kedgeree for a full breakfast. Many decades ago it was always served as a hot breakfast option. About 20 years ago it stopped, I really miss it.

Ooh kedgeree!!!

midsomermurderess · 27/06/2022 00:24

I have really enjoyed stuffed paratha with lime pickle and a cup of chai after long overnight bus journeys in India. Here, soft-boiled eggs on toast, perhaps with crispy bacon, and tea.

Fried egg
Really crispy bacon
Square sausage
Potato cake
Fried bread
Beans
Brown sauce
Toast and endless cups of tea

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/06/2022 01:03

Fried or occasionally scrambled eggs
Back Bacon, crispy
A sausage, posh
Black pudding
sourdough or wheaten toast, butter
Slow cooked cherry tomatoes
Field mushrooms, fried (not essential)
Tea, never coffee

Happy to take orange juice if offered

I like the idea of potatoes in principle but never have enough room

Baked beans, button mushrooms, tinned tomatoes, streaky bacon, and coffee,
all come under the ‘evil and wrong in this context’ category

Furries · 27/06/2022 01:56

Ooh, salivating at these!

One or two smoked bacon medallions (I’m a weirdo, hate fat on meat)
Scrambled egg - no butter/milk - and cooked so it’s “dry” rather than runny
A decent sausage, maybe with caramelised red-onion
A large portobello mushroom (maybe with a bit of rosemary sprinkled over)
Small cubes of sautéed potatoes
Couple of slices of thick white toast with butter
Glass of freshly squeezed orange juice

Obviously, all of the above is a complete fantasy, I’d never be arsed to prepare it myself!

caringcarer · 27/06/2022 02:35

2 Sausages, 2 bacon, 2 fried eggs, 2 hash brown, baked beans and toast soldiers to dip into eggs. A pot of tea to wash it down.

PicklePastry · 27/06/2022 02:46

mjf981 · 27/06/2022 02:51

Terribly unhealthy but...American fried waffles topped with marscapone cream, maple syrup, blueberries, strawberries, cinnamon.
And a large steaming strong properly made coffee on the side.
😋

sashh · 27/06/2022 03:46

Oh for me it has to be delivered from Evie's. Their Buster's special - 2 bacon , 2 sausage , 1 egg,1 toast , slice of fried bread , choice of beans or tomatoes

And a sandwich and a piece of cake for tea.

If I'm cooking then

Smoked bacon
Mushrooms fried in butter - even better if they are Portobello
Lincolnshire sausages
Baked beans
Potato cake
Eggs fried in dripping / lard which is hot enough to make the white crispy at the edges
I might do some bubble and squeak if there are left over vegies
Toast

A large glass of orange juice on the side

Coffee to sip after

WibbleBibble · 27/06/2022 19:07

Omg I'd forgotten about fried bread...Im not sure if it is a good thing I've found it again!

My brekkie:

Crispy rashers x3
Runny eggs but no white gloopy icky stuff x2
Fried mushrooms
Hash browns x3
Fried bread x1

I need to have this for dinner one day this week

Madcats · 27/06/2022 19:23

Stealth boast(ish), but my favourite hotel breakfasts was dhal, chapatis and crispy bacon.

I can't cope with the consistency of eggs unless buried deeply into carbs (or lots of cream for some reason) so my full English would be:

Streaky bacon (fat almost rendered out), sausage, black pudding (but can cope with a bit of haggis or white pudding), garlicy mushrooms, baked tomato (grilled are a bit tough)...hash brown/cubed potato (or bubble and squeak) in preference to fried bread, but I do sometimes cook a few extra spuds the night before to slice and fry.

Baked beans are optional. We then need orange juice to cut through that lot and ketchup/mustard.

Shade17 · 27/06/2022 19:29

I tend to have:
3 thick butcher’s sausages
4 rashers of smoked back bacon
3 fried eggs
2 toast
1 fried bread
4 hash browns
Fried button mushrooms
Baked beans
Black pudding

OR

12oz sirloin steak
3 fried eggs

Doubleraspberry · 27/06/2022 19:44

The demise of fried bread in favour of hash browns saddens me. I'm not anti-hash browns as a thing, but I don't want onion on my breakfast if I can avoid it.

thefirstmrsrochester · 27/06/2022 19:53

Eggs royale, side of wilted spinach. with sourdough toast and Brittany butter. Blood orange mimosa. Custard tart and espresso.

Stornoway black pudding with poached duck egg, crisp streaky bacon on top. Sourdough toast with manchego and quince jam. Mug of really nice coffee.

What I’m making later in the week as DH and I have a few days off: Turkish eggs, cranachan, orange and mango juice, with some pastries from Lidl bakery.

Madcats · 27/06/2022 21:01

I don't understand the love for back bacon. If the meat isn't tough, how do you render the fat?

QuizzlyBears · 27/06/2022 22:07

The Dishoom breakfast naan is in my top tier breakfasts ever and something I would love to recreate properly at home.

Otherwise -

Scrambled eggs done with butter
Overcooked baked beans
Hash browns
Richmond veggie sausages
Roasted vine tomatoes
Mushrooms done in garlic/butter
Sourdough toast with salted butter and marmalade
Tea and orange juice please!

Shoxfordian · 27/06/2022 22:17

I like Eggs Royale: poached eggs, hollandaise, smoked salmon, spinach on toasted muffins

Also I like American style pancakes but only with incinerated streaky bacon and maple syrup- don’t usually order them because you can’t trust the bacon here

I like an apple juice and a flat white

Yes!! I’ve made a version of this at home and it’s so much better than a regular bacon sarnie, but the Dishoom one was amazing.

Scrambled egg made with lots of butter
Toasted wheaten bread
