What's in your dream full/cooked breakfast?

For me

Fried or grilled mushrooms. Never tinned
A fried egg
Potato scone
Crispy bacon
A square sausage might be nice
A piece of black pudding or haggis

With tea but I wouldn't say no to coffee instead. And preferably also a small glass of fruit juice.

On occasion I like some fried cubes of potato with rosemary and sometimes tofu scramble if I want a vegetarian breakfast.

Also it must be served for lunch or dinner as I don't eat breakfast.

What's on yours?

Traditional:

Sausages (as long as not too coarse/gristly)
Crispy streaky bacon, American style
Beans
Poached egg
Mushrooms
Hash browns
Fried bread
Brown sauce and a cup of tea

Non-traditional:

Toasted English muffin topped with avocado, chilli jam, chorizo, halloumi and a poached egg.
With a latte and a glass of orange juice.

Being in a Scottish household a full Scottish breakfast is an absolute must. I give you square sausage (slice for those of you who know Wink fried eggs, tattie scones, smoked bacon, toast and beans. Keeps us going all day until lunch Halo

Lillipops · 26/06/2022 19:52

Forgot to add a slice of haggis Grin

A proper full English breakfast is usually a miss for me, but give me crispy bacon,
sourdough toast with real butter
baked beans, button mushrooms ( not the massive slimy mushrooms you usually get with a cooked breakfast )
2 poached eggs, maybe some salty spinach, and I’m happy

or

Poached eggs with smoked salmon on a toasted breakfast muffin

fresh oj and a latte

I do love a cooked English breakfast, but today I made a really good brunch at home.

I had managed to double book myself with a delivery today so had to cancel brunch out with friends and promised them restaurant quality brunch at home.

I did vanilla french toast made with creme fraîche and eggs, with crispy bacon and maple syrup, and then (sounds random but it really does work) with raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, toasted chopped hazelnuts and strawberry puree. Bit faffy but a great success.

I quite often do an English breakfast for dinner if I want something comforting.

iklboo · 26/06/2022 22:45

@ilovepixie - what's fadge? It's a euphemism where I come from 😄

Lol. It's potato bread. Called fadge in some parts of Northern Ireland

Derbyshire oatcake
sausages
baked beans
fried mushrooms
black pudding
Grilled cherry tomatoes, not tinned tomato
fried egg
apple juice (why do places only usually offer orange juice or tea in the price ?! I don't like either)

Has to be a spongy Derbyshire oatcake fried in butter 😜

ilovepixie · 26/06/2022 22:56

Like soda bread and pancake fried in the pan. Ma get the pan on is a well heard cry from hungry travellers lol.

Coffee.

toooldtocarewhoknows · 26/06/2022 23:29

I love Kedgeree for a full breakfast. Many decades ago it was always served as a hot breakfast option. About 20 years ago it stopped, I really miss it.

tobee · 27/06/2022 00:21

Ooh love fried bread! Find I'm not very good at doing it though.

We had breakfast for dinner last night. Beans, scrambled egg, mushrooms, smoked bacon, sausage, fried tomatoes, black pudding, hash brown. Lots of toast to add marmite and/or marmalade, butter of course. Plenty of tea followed by fresh coffee and orange juice. Happy to sub poached/fried eggs for scrambled eggs. And lose the hash brown for fried bread! Grin
