Any fellow coeliacs want to wallow in self pity with me about discontinued products

I don't buy a lot of specific gluten free products, mostly as a lot aren't worth the expense. But through trial and error there are a few things I'd get so I'm especially sad that my favourite gluten free pizza that I used to get for the freezer for a quick meal when I'm feeling lazy has been discontinued.

Gone the same way as Genius Pain Au Chocolat, Costa gluten free wraps and countless others

M&S did an amazing gluten free millionaires shortbread, which they've stopped doing.

And years ago I used to be able to get gf pink wafer biscuits, but I can't find them now?

SweetPetrichor · 25/06/2022 21:21

I’ve not noticed the loss of any particular products I frequent but the freezer section in most supermarkets seems to be shrinking massively with space being taken over by the meat free stuff.

Maidofdishonour · 25/06/2022 21:25

Amy’s kitchen no longer export to the UK. Their Rice Mac and Cheese was my guilty pleasure!

Coop do a pretty good chocolate tiffin and I live in slight fear it will be discontinued.

I also loved the pizza above - I struggle to find a good one which isn’t also vegan.

QuebecBagnet · 25/06/2022 21:30

Like Meat products, stopped coming to the uk.

didnt realise Amy’s kitchen had also stopped.

the M&S vegi chicken nuggets.

tesco choclate chip mini muffins

the Morrisons pizza bases (stopped at my local one but available at others)

jd88123 · 25/06/2022 21:32

Tescos triple chocolate cookies. Amazingly chocolatey. Rip

Mariposa80 · 25/06/2022 21:34

Tescos triple chocolate cookies

If they're the ones I'm thinking of Lidl do some very similar ones

The pink wafers, I'd forgotten about them .......

Kendrickspenguin · 25/06/2022 21:40

Tesco used to do gluten free fishcakes, but have recently stopped selling them.

TrainspottingWelsh · 25/06/2022 21:42

I’m not, but sil is.
Worst are pizza bases and m&s millionaires shortbread.
Just from my occasional experience catering for her, the core range has shrank. Or are also vegan. And when you look closely at many products supposedly suitable elsewhere, they might not have actual wheat in as an ingredient but still aren’t suitable. Eg we found an independent bakery, the gluten free options were only suitable for someone choosing to avoid it/ mild intolerance, not coeliac’s.

This. Oh so much this. If id have known I'd have made a whole drawer free in the freezer 😭

Also Amy's veg lasagne

FinallyGotAnIPhone · 25/06/2022 21:43

I used to like the fresh baked loaves from Sainsbury’s that mysteriously disappeared a few years ago.

CMOTDibbler · 25/06/2022 21:45

Not being able to get a cake in Starbucks is my current sulk. I'm very happy with their GF panini thing, but when I'm driving for work I often need something to keep me going that isn't a 1000 degrees and needs special handling. I don't like Costa coffee as much, but they do have a great gf range, so am conflicted.
White Rabbit do a lovely GF pizza that isn't vegan, but my Ocado delivery decided to give me the vegan one with kale on it instead this week which was annoying, but at least you can pick the kale off and add cheese, unlike the one with jackfruit on (which is the only GF pizza stocked in my local CoOp) which makes the base soggy.

Haudyourwheesht · 25/06/2022 21:47

Loads of GF stuff is becoming dairy free too. I can't eat gluten; I still want bloody cheese!

Vwswimmer1 · 25/06/2022 21:49

Mine too 😭 I stocked up a few but have eaten them all

QuebecBagnet · 25/06/2022 21:50

Available products are definitely getting less. I’ve resorted to making my own pizzas with caputo flour.

This!!

I make my own flatbread pizzas sometimes but there are days when you just want something that requires near zero effort

M and S used to do amazing GF Scotch Eggs. I still look every week, just incase.

Frenchyq25 · 25/06/2022 21:59

My husband misses the pink wafers too.
We'd stopped buying the Amys kitchen range as there employment practices are not great, so hadn't noticed them missing from the shelves (the rice and cheese was his favourite at one point).

Nottheshrinkingcapgrandpa · 25/06/2022 22:02

M&S cheesecake, not seen it since the first lockdown happened

Neither of those coffee shops are actually gluten free - the drinks containing steamed milk are at risk of cross contamination. So if they can't do GF coffee they're not going to put effort into other GF products

TitoMojito · 25/06/2022 22:04

Oh no! I loved that pizza ☹️ I preferred the fridge one but the freezer one was good too. I hate when GF food is discontinued 🙄

@TrainspottingWelsh Morrisons do great gluten free millionaires shortbread

Sadly they seem to have stopped doing their enrobed chocolate orange biscuits.

@Mariposa80 If your morrisons has a pizza counter they will do any pizza toppings you like on their gluten free bases.

My biggest loss has been the spring rolls at co-op. They were only a christmas thing anyway but this Christmas they just... weren't there.
