Wow Silkie that looks lovely. Enjoy your break away.

Hectic end to term. Chicken Pox is doing the rounds. Staff off Ill.

DH tooth extraction is today.

Good Luck with your decision making Helena it’s really tough making big choices sometimes isn’t it?

DS had first shoes he isn’t keen on them yet.

Plastichanger · 06/07/2022 14:08

Lovely photos Iwandered and Silkies. Your stopover apartment with a pool looks gorgeous, Silkies and I too hope you have a wonderful break.

I have been feeling really unwell for the last couple of days - really bad sore throat and just exhausted yesterday - a little better today so I am hoping I am on the road to recovery.

yellowsmileyface · 06/07/2022 16:51

Iwandered you must have a lovely little garden! Impressive crop and very pretty flowers.

Silkie that place looks stunning! Hope you have a fab holiday.

Plastic sorry to hear you're feeling unwell. There seems to be something going round. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I had a lovely long walk today and met perhaps the friendliest squirrel ever.

yellow - Looks interesting on its fence, your squirrel. My closest encounter with a squirrel was at a local park. It came close, looked me up and down expecting food. I had none, so it gave me a disgusted look, turned round and left a "pebble" on my shoe, before it marched off. Grin

IWanderedLonely · 06/07/2022 21:58

Yellowsmileyface thank you. I used to spend hours in it, but the past year I've really struggled with mental health/menopause & done next to nothing, lo and behold it looks better if a little wild than ever.

Silkies that looks amazing, just the kind of thing I dream of, enjoy it & your lovely family too.
I made a blueberry & rhubarb crumble for pudding. None of the grandchildren liked it.Sad

Hope you have a fantastic break silkie !

I can’t believe it is only Wednesday, this week feels like it is lasting forever.

I need to decide whether to apply for a new job. And/or move DC4 for their last two years of primary.

They are big decisions Helena.

I find writing a list of pros and cons helps me with big decisions.
Good luck!

mathanxiety · 07/07/2022 16:50

Possibly a little too exciting for the thread, but I am currently watching a man in high viz in a cherry picker doing a little tree trimming in the alley behind my apartment.

It's too late to move my car, which is blocked in by the truck. Fingers crossed it won't end up mashed by falling branches or coated with sawdust.

From my seat on the deck I can hear the high viz man singing.

MissConductUS · 07/07/2022 19:30

Sorry I've been AWOL for a bit. Things have been busy at work.

Silkie, I hope you're having a wonderful holiday. If Mr Floof likes to play football he will love these spring toys:

www.chewy.com/frisco-colorful-springs-cat-toy/dp/188521

You may be able to get them on Amazon or a pet supplies site. One of our cats loves to bat them around and watch them roll. They often wind up under the fridge or the furniture.

Math, I have about a dozen men in high viz in view of my window, doing road work. There is a lot of noise as well, which is to be expected with road work.

Helena, apply for the job. You can always turn it down if they offer it to you and you decide you don't want it. It's good to keep your CV and interviewing skills sharp too.

I have just had a telehealth visit with the pain management specialist to discuss the fact that the steroid injection she gave me worked a treat, but only for 7-10 days. She's offered another one, which I booked, but she told me that the effect of that will probably be temporary as well, but may last longer than the first. I'm booking a telehealth visit with the orthopedic surgeon to discuss booking the surgery, probably in mid-August.

What a beautiful picture Prok.

DS has done amazing walking this week.

tomorrow promises to be a hot day

MissConductUS · 08/07/2022 19:46

Lovely picture, Prok. What is the crop in the foreground? It looks like corn/maize.

Lemons, once they get the hang of walking you have entered a whole new phase of parenthood. How did your DH's tooth extraction go? I'm usually sore for a couple of days after having one pulled.

I canceled the second steroid injection. It's too much bother for a temporary reduction in the pain, and the steroid used is not something to be used unnecessarily. I booked the telemedicine visit with the surgeon for next Friday and have started researching the procedure. It's called a micro hemilaminectomy. It's not quite as grim as I thought. We got the bill for DD's fall uni tuition and fees. That was grim, but DH deals with it.

The men are making pizza tonight and we are going blueberry picking again on Sunday.

We've been for a wander round our funfair. It's here for 5 days, and it's not been since 2019. I love it! The noise, the smells, the screaming. Tomorrow is carnival day, my best day of the year apart from Christmas Day.
Last Sunday we had the Wells dressed and blessed, mainly a Derbyshire custom.

Silkierabbit · 08/07/2022 23:41

Thanks everyone. It was so lovely to swim in that pool. Wed am had English breakfast then onto Cornwall to the lovely cottage by Lands End and lots of lovely scones, cream and jam left for us.

Thursday I felt unwell, shaky and sick, maybe steroid withdrawal, not sure but in bed all day. Dh and kids went to St Michaels Mount. Today feeling much better and went to Minack theatre, pic below.

Mr Floof has been pictured sitting on the lap of friend looking after him with friend looking very happy. Thanks for toy recommendation MissC

Love to everyone. Quite tired now and booked a surfing lesson tomorrow, think I overestimated energy levels 3 days or so post last chemo but so lovely to get out. Oh and a miracle happened today, dd and her friend cooked, washed up and cleaned kitchen. Friend is clearly very well brought up. 🤣

Miss Yes, it is Mais. Organic. Like the wheat 'next field'. They made a hike through a region of "Biohöfe". There are pictures of happy cows, too. 😀
On my walks along the Landwehrkanal I see little landscape and lots of people.

HildaTablet · 09/07/2022 07:32

Another beautiful pic, Silkie, the Minack theatre looks spectacular.

IWandered, are you in Buxton? My mum's side of the family all came from there so I feel a little part of me belongs there too.

Aargh, the MN double-post gremlin strikes again. Sorry!

IWanderedLonely · 09/07/2022 09:07

Hilda yes, born & bred 😁
Silkies enjoy, looks magical.

Silkierabbit · 09/07/2022 10:22

Thanks Iwandered have a lovely time at Carnival day

Thanks Hilda I am impressed you get double posts, mine normally delete just after I have typed a long reply. Still it saves people from my waffle. 😂

nova99 · 09/07/2022 16:20

@Silkierabbit your pics are stunning. I've added the Minak Theatre to my ever growing travel list.

Would you mind sharing where that apartment is? It looks heavenly Grin

HildaTablet · 09/07/2022 17:20

We may be related somewhere down the line @IWanderedLonely Wink

Silkierabbit · 09/07/2022 18:12

Thanks Nova We are staying here which is a wonderful place but tha man and his wife who own it pretty much give it away most of the year to people with cancer and that is how I got it from a charity SomethingToLookForwardTo

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/07/2022 18:42

Silkie Lovely place!

The job center responded to DS's request for an appointment, the 'Kindergeldstelle' requested information on DS intentions (Kindergeld naturally stops when DC start earning). I gave DS links about his possibilites, but I do not think he has looked at them yet. I can see my annual leave being spent on DS.

Lemonsandlemonade · 09/07/2022 18:44

MissC yeah DS is really getting hang of it. DH’s tooth extraction went badly. 10 injections stitches and the procedure should have been stopped.

Today has been a hot one here spent lots of time inside but enjoyed time with DS in paddling pool.

MissConductUS · 09/07/2022 18:51

Welcome, @nova99, and thanks for sharing your travel planning news.

Prok, you have entered a difficult phase of parenting. I hope it doesn't take your entire annual leave to get your DS on a good path.

It's a lovely summer day here. The deck garden continues to flourish. If you look at the chair in the first photo you'll see that there is a purrito on the deck. Shortly after I took this picture a hummingbird arrived. He got out of the chair shelter, but the hummingbird was too fast for him and flew away. We now have lots of hummingbirds, so summer is truly with us.
