Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

Well done on the allotment plot lurchers. Our children in work grew carrots potatoes beetroot peas onions and herbs this year which they enjoyed.

We had a stay and play session in work today For our new starters hard but good to see newbies.

would she notice a few less toys rhubarb?

KissThaRain · 29/06/2022 17:28

I’m having a banana milkshake from McDonalds

Plastichanger · 29/06/2022 17:31

MissConductUS · 29/06/2022 15:11

Plastichanger, I looked at the Superbloom website. They planted 20 million seeds! What do you get to see if you buy a ticket? The flowers are all out in the moat, correct?

Dinner last night was lovely. The restaurant is in a marina on the Hudson River, so nice views. I had clam chowder and lobster roll and then we went home and had chocolate mousse cake for dessert. I'm glad we took DS with us.

I’m so glad you had a lovely anniversary meal, Miss.

As to what people get for the entrance to Superbloom that they don’t get by walking around the outside, apart from seeing the flowers up close, I’m not really sure either. There were a few boards with, presumably, some information about the plants and their pulling power to bees and other insects and we could hear some music so I expect you get the music more loudly to make it a more ‘immersive’ experience. Everything seems to be about having an immersive experience these days which, I think, means more than one or two of your senses being active but I don’t know for sure.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/06/2022 21:05

Ilovelurchers Lovely - we need fotos and a map, to see where things are. (No chance of an alottement here.)

MissConductUS · 29/06/2022 21:14

Kiss, how was the milkshake? I'd go for chocolate personally.

Welcome back Rhubarb I have to admit that DS was a soft toy hoarder and I also used to go for the not telling him.

Welcome Ilovelurchers and congrats on the allotment.

Glad you had a lovely meal MissC

Thanks Half and well done on getting so much done in one morning.

DH is just back from collecting shopping orders, I have one new fitted sheet for our bed, some curtains, a swim set for Cornwall, a hat, the frozen peas kept half my hair from chemo but still looks a bit silly and some cheap shoes for Cornwall. Had a Papa Johns pizza at lunch (DDs choice) and told DS it was to celebrate end of my chemotherapy and it had worked (we don't know if it has or not as surgery first but its done) and he smiled. Still no education at all for him so filling in legal forms and lots of e-mailing today.

Floof has been acting like he is starving all day and has being doing the head tilt poor starving cute cat look a lot including 30 secs after he has just finished a bowl of food. He is growing so rapidly.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/06/2022 03:10

Mr Fluff is practicing his cat powers, I see.

4 o"clock and I cannot sleep. I sit on the terasse listening to the blackbird

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/06/2022 03:11

am sitting

mathanxiety · 30/06/2022 04:51

Sometimes it's nice to sit on your own and listen to the birds, Prok, though possibly not in the wee small hours of the morning in lieu of sleep.

Your anniversary dinner sounds lovely, MissC.

Great news about the allotment, Ilovelurchers. Do you have any gardening experience or plans for your patch? I remember watching what I think was a Monty Don programme in which a woman found herself with an overgrown disaster of an allotment and cleared it all up.

Silkies is it possible to engage a solicitor to fight on behalf of your DS?

In very dull and unexciting news, I decided to clear out a lot of old photos and then moved on to my 10,000+ emails and got rid of half of them. I made a resolution to keep up with my deletions from now on.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/06/2022 05:28

I remember the show. It was on German Netflix a couple of years ago. I loved it.

IWanderedLonely · 30/06/2022 21:10

I've had a lovely day off work, taking 2 eldest granddaughters on a day out for their birthdays. Only spoiled by a flurry of phone calls & texts about a crisis at workHmm

My hydrangea is full of buds; last year it was very poor. Once they're out I'll take a photo..

MissConductUS · 30/06/2022 21:39

That sounds lovely, Iwandered. Do both granddaughters have the same birthday?

I took a few hours of annual leave this afternoon to get some errands done. No crisis phone calls from work, fortunately.

One of the cats is trying to trick me into opening a new can of food rather than eating the leftovers from breakfast. If I wait her out she'll give up and eat it.

Monday is a national holiday here. We celebrate our separation from King George III, who was by all accounts a bit of a nutter.

IWanderedLonely · 30/06/2022 22:02

No Miss they're 6 weeks (& 2 years) apart, so we go between the 2.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/07/2022 08:14

Off work again, as it is Friday. It is warm and very humid here, but still no rain.
DH has persuaded DS to get a decent haircut for the Abi-pictures. ABI certificates are handed out tomorrow.
And in the evening there is Science Night in Berlin. I will probably go with DD, only, she is HU (Berlin center), I was FU (Dahlem), though they provide shuttle transport.

Lemonsandlemonade · 02/07/2022 07:06

DS is wide awake in his cot and blowing raspberries.
DH is in agony with two abscesses. I’m not a good nurse.

ilovelurchers · 02/07/2022 09:06

Happy Calm Saturday everybody! Hope you all have a relaxing one planned. I have absolutely nothing to do today, and DH is currently making breakfast while I am still in bed. Perfect!

Sorry to hear about the abcesses Lemons - nasty things. Is he a very good patient?

MissConductUS · 02/07/2022 11:56

Happy Caturday everyone. 🐱

Lemons, where are the abscesses and is there an urgent care office he can go to for treatment?

Lurchers, that sounds fab! What's he making for breakfast?

DH had the day off yesterday, so he and DS went cherry picking, then made pizza last night. Both were really good. They also picked a quart of blueberries, so I'll have to make blueberry bread this weekend.

Happy Caturday everyone. DD and Mr Floof are still together sleeping I think at 1.10pm!! Nice fruit and abking MissC

Hope your DH can get that seen to Lemons

Glad you had a nice day out Iwandered

Hope yesterday evening was good Prok

We can get lawyers Math but its a bit complicated and the legal route is very slow and too slow to get a solution for gcses. But its worth filling in legal forms. I did meet with LA yesterday and they said school are acting illegally and any agreement can only be voluntary and they said they can't advise but we could send him back to school. I have bits of education finally coming through, none of it accessible to him but its a start.

DH has gone to barbers to get hair cut and we will start getting more ready for Cornwall trip. We had a takeaway last night from the village pub which was nice.

KittyCatsby · 02/07/2022 13:25

Decided last week that the carrier bag full of my parents photos ( now both no longer here ) should really be put in an album ( remember them !) So one duly purchased via Amazon and spent first few hours filling it up ( still haven't finished )
Went to the post office to renew my licence.
Swept up some pine cones they have fallen onto the path / road .
Making a concerted effort to drink more water , starting today.

ilovelurchers · 02/07/2022 14:55

DH isn't much of a cook, bless him, so the breakfast was pretty straightforward, but did involve scrambled duck eggs which was nice.

He then took me charity shopping and I got:
A hoodie for DD
Denim shorts and leather-look leggings for me
A book I wanted
Fur-Real pug (DD always wanted one and I could never afford a new one)
Two Best Teacher mugs for teacher friends who are leaving this year.

All for £10! So happy!

MissC the pizza looks brilliant! Homemade pizza is the best - sometimes make it with DD. Homemade burgers for us tonight tho....

MissConductUS · 02/07/2022 17:12

Welcome, @KittyCatsby, and thanks for sharing your photo organizing, sweeping up and hydration news. I just treated myself to a new insulated water bottle I keep in the fridge. The old one stopped drawing air in from the top, so was very hard to drink from.

Lurchers, the pizza was excellent. We started making it at home when covid started and we didn't want to eat out. We buy the pizza dough premade, so it's a very quick and easy meal. My DH is an excellent cook and likes doing it more than I do. He's also taught DS to cook, so between the two of them they spoil me by doing almost all of the cooking. They do burgers on the grill most Saturdays for dinner. There are thunderstorms in the forecast, so we will see it that works out tonight.

We've had some hot, humid weather which has been great for the plants on the deck. I can't believe how everything has shot up just since last weekend. Some of the credit goes to the potting soil I use, which comes premixed with a bit of fertilizer. It's called MiracleGro. Do you have it in the UK or something similar?

I am glad to say DS managed the handing out very well, in spite of the people and the noise. And he was complimented on his hair cut, too. And he went to say good bye to his mentor of his own accord, but avoided the fotos.
After 12 years of school without having to think about the right colour of socks, some of the young men came in suits, but all in all it was a very relaxed affair. Year 11 is traditionally responsible for the catering and there were masses of lovely starters from the local Indian restaurant. Smile

Prok, congratulations to your DS on his graduation and for handling the day so well. It is an accomplishment to be proud of. And your flowers are lovely!

A loaf of blueberry bread using the very fresh berries picked yesterday is in the oven.

So good to hear your DS's graduation went well, Prok. All credit to him.

Lovely pictures of the fruit, pizza and assorted flowers/plants (we do have MiracleGro here too, MissC, it works wonders). I’ve spent far too much time watching Wimbledon, in between getting ready for a long trip tomorrow. It’s been pouring with rain (where I live, I mean, not at Wimbledon).
