Thanks Helena and MissC Final chemo done, very glad that is over and got through to end.

Been trying to sort DS again, looks like its not been done legally atm, had a week of them refusing to say on what grounds being done. Now they are trying to get parental consent for it and still no education. Latest is saying all next year at home with a very restricted curriculum against his and our wishes. Someone said to say its illegal and make it legal or sending him back to school so did that and finally got reply meeting at 10am with la though still no one answering how they are doing this. Seems they dont want to say in writing.

At least cancer charities are helpful and we have week in Cornwall soon.

stayingpositiveifpossible · 27/06/2022 19:45

I have loaded our slimline dishwasher TWICE today rather than the usual TEN times when DD was studying for her exams. Reason being she has gone to uni summer school.

The trains were fine on the Sunday despite the strike.

I have cleaned the fridge and put the bins out for tomorrow morning. Highlight of my day was not cooking and getting a subway instead.

DogsAndGin · 27/06/2022 19:56

Monday is done, 3 weeks left til summer hols!
I cooked a nice Chinese meal with a new recipe and DH walked in just as it was ready.
Picked up my new nursing chair and had a go in it; it’s very comfy!
My book came in the post 😊

HildaTablet · 27/06/2022 20:05

Congratulations on completing the chemo, Silkie. What a marathon, you’ve been through the mill, all right. Hopefully things will get resolved with DS’s school situation and you’ll all really deserve that break.

Plastichanger · 27/06/2022 20:08

Congratulations on the final chemo Silkies and good luck with the LA meeting. I had some Summer fruit drizzle cake in honour of the end of your chemo.

Did you do a search for @MissConductUS like I did, Helena?

I hope you feel better soon Lemons and halfpast.

@echt, are you the echt from way back when all this was all green fields?

In dull news, I am trying to wear in some new sandals.

MissConductUS · 27/06/2022 20:34

Welcome, @stayingpositiveifpossible, and thanks for sharing your dishwashing news. Our DS moved home a month ago after graduating from uni and the number of dirty dishes and amount of food consumed has increased exponentially. We also have a DD but she is spending the summer at her uni doing an internship. It feels a bit like the mom and dad hotel at times.

Welcome, @DogsAndGin, and thanks for sharing your culinary and furniture news. How old is your little one?

Silkie, it's hard to believe you're still struggling with your son's school placement. Did you speak to a lawyer about it?

We were supposed to have thunderstorms today but it's just been a bit of rain on and off, so I'll have to water the plants tonight.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 27/06/2022 21:06

Silkie Congratulations on getting through!

We, too, did not have the promised rain only the wind.
The place DD will do her obligatory internship in has unleashed their paperwork on her. They told her today she'll need a "Führungszeugnis" = DBS, but the appointments are booked out until September and she has to use other means to fullfill her obligations - her ADHD brain is going into panic and shut down mode right now.

Pinklimey · 27/06/2022 22:54

Since I had my surgery I have got through so many books. Currently on page 200 of Belching Out The Devil by Mark Thomas. Very dark book, but thankfully funny bits are dropped in here and there.

echt · 28/06/2022 00:29

@echt, are you the echt from way back when all this was all green fields?

Yes. I've kept the same username for years. Still in Australia, but now retired from teaching.

mathanxiety · 28/06/2022 04:50

In dull and unexciting news, I worked all day, came home, ate leftover turkey chili on the deck, drank the last fizzy water, went for a walk with DD3, did a load of towels plus DD3's new jeans because she dropped chili onto them, combed Dcat, and am finally about to hit the hay. Nice weather here at the moment - warm and not humid, so hopefully you'll have a nice few days at the end of the week, MissC.

MissConductUS · 28/06/2022 16:34

echt, it's nice to have someone from the southern hemisphere on the thread. DH visited Syndey once for work but refuses to discuss his time there, so I assume that much partying was involved.

Math, it is lovely here today and should stay that way for the rest of the week. Thanks for sending us this nice weather.

Prok, google translate is giving me "criminal record" for Führungszeugnis, which I hope your DD does not need to acquire.

Today is my 25th wedding anniversary. DH gave me flowers last night and a card, and we're going out to dinner tonight at a place on the river I've wanted to try. DS will accompany us, as it wouldn't seem fair to leave him out.

Congratulations on finishing your chemo Silkies. Now to beat the LA.
Happy Silver Anniversary Miss
In dull news here I've spent the afternoon at work doing DBS application sorting ( it is about as dull as you can get)
I've collected my new HRT prescription today more oestrogen than the 1st attempt -Fingers crossed.

Pinklimey · 28/06/2022 18:19

I have the strangest radio in my head. RESPECT has just started. Some of the music I hear is my kind of music, some makes me wonder why on earth it is going through my head.

Lemonsandlemonade · 28/06/2022 19:16

So sorry your DS is having such a hard time Silkie it’s so unfair.

MissC I dunno so many bugs in work I feel better today but felt very weak in work.

Cant wait for end of term now. Have new starters coming for stay and play session.

Silkierabbit · 28/06/2022 19:44

Thanks so much Iwandered and Hilda I am so glad to have finished chemo and making a bit of progress on the school as Dept for Education has agreed to investigate. But still no education for DS, well on online English lesson which I did. DS is laughing at Mr Floof and DD though so a bit more cheerful. Meeting with LA today but did not achieve anything really but laid out complaint. Another meeting on Thursday.

Happy anniversary MissC have a lovely meal out.

Hope you get the police clearance checks done OK Prok and Iwandered

Thanks Plastic hope the sandals are nice and wearing in fine.

Glad you have nice weather Maths I looked up weather for our Cornish trip and everyday says sunny so far and around 19C so not bad for England.

ilovelurchers · 28/06/2022 20:08

This is a nice idea for a thread and you all sound lovely! Please can I join in?

My most interesting news today is that I went to a new place shopping but failed to find any shops. The buses there and back arrived quickly though, and I got a seat both times, so that was nice.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/06/2022 20:17

Miss Congratulations to you and your DH - have a lovely time!
Silkie 🍾🍰 Flowers

DD has found a way around the appointment problem and can now show that she has applied, which in this case is enough. It is a "simple certificate of conduct", you need when your work involves people.
When she is stressed she dreams - vividly - last night she dreamed her bed was infested by platypusses (Entenschnabeltiere) Grin

MissConductUS · 28/06/2022 20:48

Welcome, @ilovelurchers, and thanks for sharing your somewhat disappointing shopping news. Of course you can join in. Might I ask why you expected shops there when there were no shops?

It is a nice idea for a thread, and a nice change from AIBU, parking wars, and CF neighbors and relatives. This is more like having a cuppa with friends.

halfpasteleven · 28/06/2022 21:41

Congratulations on your anniversary Miss C and I hope the three of you have a lovely time celebrating.

Silkie, good luck with the next meeting and I'm glad to hear your DS was enjoying the company of Mr Floof.

I brought DD for her speech and language appointment this morning, then we went to the post office and then for the groceries. Got home just before the rain so we were happy with our mornings activities.

Plastichanger · 28/06/2022 22:55

I was in the area today so looked at the Superbloom flowers in the moat at the Tower of London. They were very pretty but my friend and I agreed to walk around outside and look at the flowers - we are too cheap to pay to go inside and amongst the flowers.

Thanks for clarifying that you are echt from way back when, echt.

I am glad your DS was laughing a bit today, Silkies he deserves happiness after everything he is going through.

Congratulations on your anniversary Miss. I hope you enjoy the celebratory meal.

MissConductUS · 29/06/2022 15:11

Plastichanger, I looked at the Superbloom website. They planted 20 million seeds! What do you get to see if you buy a ticket? The flowers are all out in the moat, correct?

Dinner last night was lovely. The restaurant is in a marina on the Hudson River, so nice views. I had clam chowder and lobster roll and then we went home and had chocolate mousse cake for dessert. I'm glad we took DS with us.

RhubarbFairy · 29/06/2022 15:14

Afternoon all.

I've done three loads of washing today plus an additional load full of cuddly toys ready to donate to the school fayre. I have smuggled these out of DS2s room to do this. DH thinks we should be more upfront about it. I disagree. DS2 is a hoarder.

RhubarbFairy · 29/06/2022 15:35

Such a lot to catch up on.

Congratulations on finishing your course Silkie and I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing such a farce with the LA.

Congratulations on your Silver Anniversary MissC

MissConductUS · 29/06/2022 16:03

Hi Rhubarb, lovely to see you again. Thanks for rejoining us and sharing your decluttering news. DD went through a phase where she collect plush animal toys and wound up with dozens of them. We gave most of them away to family members with young children.

Happy calm Wednesday everybody!

I had expected shops yesterday because my students had told me it was a lovely place to go shopping. I suspect I maybe just didn't find the main shopping section, as all I did see were some convenience stores and the odd takeaway place. But I learnt a bit about bus routes, so it wasn't all bad.

Today, I have genuinely exciting news, which I hope is not too exciting for the thread - I put my name down for the local allotments when we moved here (less than a year ago) and was told today that there is a vacant half plot available! I have to meet with the allotment people on Sunday morning. Disproportionately thrilled, yet also strangely nervous .... .
