Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

Really hoping that today was a better day in some way for your DS Silkie.

MissConductUS · 05/10/2022 00:34

Silkie, that's awful. Is there a consultant responsible for his care that you can talk to? It doesn't sound like they have a treatment plan.

Lots of rain here today, which is good. I booked two work trips today, one by train to Philadelphia in December and the other by plane to Orlando in February. Both are annual trips for me. I hope we're back in the same hotel in Orlando as last year. The pool was fabulous. I posted pictures at the time.

Silkierabbit · 05/10/2022 01:17

Thanks all. Did manage to talk to consultant and helped a bit. But SS are doing child protection conference, 90% lies of which we have not been able to give our side, school basically trying to cover their arse by blaming us and cahms copied it.

HildaTablet · 05/10/2022 09:13

I really do feel you need someone else on your side, Silkie. Sorry to keep on about it but it sounds as though the authorities are just bulldozing over you and won’t listen. Is there anybody at all you could recruit? Even a legal person to help fight your corner?

Silkierabbit · 05/10/2022 09:28

I spoke to a friend who adopts and she was good on what to do but says they can be a nightmare. May try for a lawyer but we are on a very short timescale. What annoys me is we did not get chance to give our version of events.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/10/2022 10:37

About to start chemo 2, waiting in my 2 bed room. It is a "Station" dealing exclusively with chemo treatments.
They have examined and questioned me, taken lots and lots of blood.
Back pain is gone, no further weight loss, but my hair started to fall out.

Silkierabbit · 05/10/2022 12:26

Sorry you are losing hair Prok Hope the chemo isn't too bad.

I got an email from my German friend today and he wants to meet up at end of October.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/10/2022 15:01

Silkie Visiting you? I hope you have a great time!

The hair is not really a problem. My natural hair is not great anyway, and I am in Berlin, so noone cares.

Though I still have the wig from 20 years ago. It was great, but itchy.

Plastichanger · 05/10/2022 15:43

Good luck with second round of chemo, Prok.

Silkies, I hope that your DS is allowed home soon to the comfort of all things fluffy and lots of fruit to eat.

In dull news, I was supposed to go for a walk with a friend but she is unwell so walk is postponed. Stayed in to watch the rain this afternoon.

IWanderedLonely · 05/10/2022 21:48

Good luck Prok hope you feel OK afterwards.

Today I played hide & seek with one of my granddaughters and end up hiding behind an ironing board. I overhung the sides. Blush

Plastichanger · 05/10/2022 21:59

Oh That made me laugh, IWandered - thank you!

halfpasteleven · 05/10/2022 22:07

Best of luck with round 2 Prok.

Silkie, I hope a legal or other type of professional can be found to help you give your side of the story aka the truth sooner rather than later.

Miss, I remember those photos.. hope you get there again, it looked fab.

MissConductUS · 06/10/2022 22:37

Good luck with round two, Prok.

I'm taking a day of annual leave tomorrow. I have loads saved up and I have to use most of it by the end of the year. Monday is a holiday (Columbus Day), so I'll have a four day weekend.

Thursday is takeaway night, so I think we'll do tex/mex.

Halfpast, it was fab at that hotel. Everyone who was there for the meeting loved it, so I suspect it will be booked there again.

Thinking of you as you head into Round 2, Prok.

Silkies I do think a lawyer would be a good idea.

The temperature here dropped a good 20 degrees in the space of an hour this afternoon. I need to find warmer clothes to wear to work tomorrow. Hoping to get some vaccinations this weekend - covid, flu, pneumonia. My doctor wants me to get vaccinated against shingles too.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/10/2022 05:37

I spent a good 20 mins cleaning mould out of the washing machine last night. Didn't get it all. Will have to keep at it.

MissConductUS · 07/10/2022 16:10

Welcome, @Mumtobabyhavoc, and thanks for sharing your mundane washing machine news. Where did you find the mold? I may have to check my washing machine. I love your handle. When my daughter was a toddler we called her Meggie of mass destruction.

Since I had the day off I did the warehouse club shop this morning and have just made Death by Chocolate Brownies to take to the dentist's office this afternoon. I have had a huge amount of dental work done there and to be honest, I do it because I like baking and it keeps the staff sweet.

HelenaJustina · 07/10/2022 16:57

I’m sitting in the car at DC4’s football training. It is grey, wet and windy. I could really do with some brownie! Or maybe a nice hot chocolate…

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/10/2022 17:53

Hello to you. 😊
The mould is in the gasket and when pulled back I saw a lot of gunk and, naturally, attempted a clean there, too. It's a never-endung battle, really. I've found that if not thoroughly dried after each washing and then aired out at least 24 hours between washes, mould will grow. Once it has a hold it's impossible to remove completely. Currently contemplating a new washing machine.

I love sweets and brownies are a favourite of mine. I have a tried and true recipe that I use.

Meggie of Mass Destruction. I love that! It's quite unbelievable how much they can tear apart. 🤷‍♀️

I'm glad I found this thread. Thank you for making it. 😊

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/10/2022 19:34

I just noticed the trees across the street have grown so that I can no longer see the balconies of the apartments on the next street over.

mathanxiety · 07/10/2022 19:50

I just made my appointments for the shots I need. Saturday night is going to be rough.

MissConductUS · 07/10/2022 20:10

I'm back from the dentist's. The brownies in the middle of the pan were a bit softer than usual, but the edge pieces were fine, so that's what I took them. I don't know if I screwed up the recipe somehow or if my oven is cooking below the set temperature. I have an oven thermometer somewhere, so I"ll check it this weekend.

Mumto, I've checked my washing machine, and there's no mold around the seal. It's my much beloved Miele if you're looking for something new. The Germans really know how to make appliances. And you're welcome for the thread. It's very much a group effort. By the way, Meggie of MD is now at uni and has outgrown her nickname. Is the baby your first?

Math, are you getting covid and flu jabs?

OP posts:
Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/10/2022 21:26

Yes, my first. 😊
Great news about the brownies! Absolute highlight for the day.
Thanks for the tip about the washer. 👍
I'm getting the flu+covid shot next week, too.
Excited as one can be about it.

Lemonsandlemonade · 07/10/2022 22:41

Welcome Mumto enjoy this thread it’s great.

MissC I can’t help but see the irony in taking brownies to the dentist.😊

can’t wait for a weekend with my DH and DS.

All the children who had the flu spray in work have been quite poorly after it,

I signed up for free GCSE English class ( a bit late) but start next week. I want to improve thr grade I got at 16. I have a degree with a specialism in dyslexia but GCSE English scares me. I have Irlens Syndrome and Dyspraxia so I think I’ll find it hard!

Hope you’re doing ok Prok and Silkie!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/10/2022 03:50

Thank you for the welcome. 😊
I thought I'd share I had DC at the park and I saw the grass had been cut. Riveting, I know.

HelenaJustina · 08/10/2022 14:09

I’m avoiding getting ready for a party tonight by procrastinating household chores and Mumsnet
