I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

Thinking of you Prok hope the chemo kicks the cancer but is kind to the rest of you.

Glad you are healing well MissC

Thanks for all the thoughts re DS. Have covid now, urgh, trying to get anti-virals and on day 5.

MissConductUS · 21/09/2022 14:13

Silkie, you should have priority for the antivirals (I'm assuming it's Paxlovid) given your current condition. Are they hard to get in the UK?

DS's first day working in the city went well. He's doing training with his team this week and next and working from home today. The whole team works from home on certain days and is in the office on other days. i had made him a packed lunch but he didn't eat it, as they had a nice lunch catered in for everyone doing the training. Last but not least, they gave him an iPhone 14, which he was quite pleased about. I'd like one too, but my mobile provider won't have them available for another month or so.

I am supposed to be priority but about 10 phone calls later cannot get them.

And now SS have announced they are visiting us tomorrow whilst I have covid. Fucking hell. So now have to try and sort house whilst I have covid and have already collapsed once.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/09/2022 14:46

Bag 2 of 4 is running.
I can have one visitor for one hour per day with a negative test, as it is a hospital visit the tests are free.

DS had learned to clean: DD is a strict teacher.
Inside to outside

Up to down

Dry to wet

The flat is clean.

Silkie I genuinely do not know what to say! And just keep sending thought.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/09/2022 14:48

View from my floor.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 23: Calmly through the day
MissConductUS · 21/09/2022 16:25

Prok, are they doing a PCR test or the rapid, lateral flow test for your visitor? The view from your room is lovely.

I wish someone would teach my DS how to clean. He has gotten much better about not leaving his dirty dishes lying around.

@Silkierabbit and @Prokupatuscrakedatus

All my best wishes. I feel for you, both of you Flowers. Stay strong.

mathanxiety · 21/09/2022 16:29

Prok lovely photo. Is that a canal or a river?
Hope you're comfortable and not feeling side effects.

Silkies can you rope in DD to clean up? What's the SS visit in aid of?
I hope someone realises soon that you should be on antivirals.

Hoping your DS settles in and finds friends among his new colleagues, MissC. Also hope your recovery continues to bring positive news.

Today is the last of the current warm spell. We had a thunderstorm last evening and unsettled, breezy, but warm weather today, but tomorrow will see a temperature drop and it will finally feel like autumn.

As of last evening, there have been three car crashes in the block south of where I live in the last ten days. Last evening's crash took the police hours to investigate and then have the cars towed off. There's still a little broken glass on the street.

Silkierabbit · 21/09/2022 18:26

Hope you are Ok Prok

Feeling rough here and having to clean for SS who are coming to see what help they could offer and what level to put Nicholas on 0,1,2 or 3 they said. I probably didn't help our case by telling them where to go as its not helping whilst I have covid and cancer and a child in mental hospital to have people coming round to see our house. ARGH. Plus arranged 4pm and DD said I am not back until 5pm.

And there is a meeting now tomorrow to discuss him which have to go to. Life just gets better.

Silkierabbit · 21/09/2022 18:26

And we are back to only an autism assessment if he speaks, argh.

Lemonsandlemonade · 21/09/2022 19:39

Good god Silkie wish I could help you in some way. Sending strength.

Prok what a lovely picture. Hope your chemo has gone as well as it can.

IWanderedLonely · 21/09/2022 21:15

Prok hoping the chemo goes as well as possible for you.
Silkies just Flowers, beyond words (well polite ones).
Today I wore earrings for the first time in months, probably since Christmas. My ears itch now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/09/2022 01:17

Since when is speech mandatory for an autism assessment. Aaargh.

Math It is the Landwehrkanal. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landwehr_Canal

I am currently on the 24h infusion, should be finished at around 19:30 Berlin time.

Lemonsandlemonade · 22/09/2022 06:45

What the hell just re read about speech and ASD assessment. The children I have who are assessed for ASD are almost always non verbal and they manage just fine! What a piss poor excuse.

Plastichanger · 22/09/2022 16:48

All I have to offer are vibes of pure fury, Silkies. I hope they have the effect of kicking the right people in the right places to get them to do what is right by your poor DS.

The view looks lovely, Prok and I hope you are well enough to enjoy it.

I’m so glad it’s all going well for your son, Miss.

In not so dull news, DS lost his wallet on his way to work this morning but has quickly frozen all his cards and notified Transport for London in case someone hands it in. I assume he will not be joining colleagues for the planned drinks after work.

Silkie, I don't blame you for telling them where to go. (I'd have said a lot more at this stage... )

What a useless system.. they should feel privileged to have your DS to work with.

Keep going.. keep smiling, keep powering on through..

we are all behind you x

Prok, hope first dose went well for you.

Miss, continued well wishes to you for your recovery.

HelenaJustina · 23/09/2022 17:14

A lovely view Prok do you have to stay in hospital between infusions or do you go home? Your DD sounds a marvel, and it’s so nice knowing that home is clean and tidy for you to go back to.

Sikie I am beyond cross for you and desperately sad for your poor DS. Hang in there.

In dull news, I left work on time to get DC4 to football training. Which means I can take DC2 to Scout Camp. The result of that is that DH will have to pick up DC4 from football and take DC1 to Explorers.

MissConductUS · 23/09/2022 21:25

It's a lovely, cool fall day in New York. I'm thankful that DS seems to have transitioned into the world of work. I'm thankful that my leg feels so much better. My walking times are faster as the muscle tone comes back.

And I'm thankful for all of the lovely people I've met on MN.

I think we got 3 months worth of rain in one day yesterday! It was pouring down the pavements like a river, and I got drenched literally to the skin. I wouldn't have gone out, but I had a hair appointment; and had to pick up medicine for one of my dogs. Bright and cool today though.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/09/2022 13:34

Hello all, I am back home and can rest until the 4th when I am back in for 2-3 nights.
Feeling not too bad but 'fuzzy' (drömmelig).

MissConductUS · 24/09/2022 17:13

I'm so glad you're home, Prok and get a good break before you have to go back. The fuzzy feeling is very common with chemo therapy.

There's rain in the forecast tomorrow, which has been happening a lot on Sundays, leaving us unable to cook on the grill. DS has said he'd like a roast chicken dinner, so I bought a big roaster this morning, along with dinner rolls and green beans. I feel like a proper Brit doing a Sunday roast. 😃

In other dull news, I have treated myself to a new clock radio. My twenty-year-old Sony clock radio was acting dodgy after a certain cat knocked it on the floor. I am loving the sound quality of the new one, the fact that I can charge my phone from it, and the Bluetooth lets me listen to the audio from Netflix in good quality stereo.

sproutsandparsnips · 24/09/2022 19:48

Glad you're home Prok.
May I ask what a dinner roll is Miss?

MissConductUS · 24/09/2022 20:23

Cerainly! It's a soft, yeasty bread roll that's served warm with butter, usually with a fancy dinner.

Miss I loved your earlier post about being thankful. Made me think of my own list.
Prok glad you're home, hope you have a decent week.

In dull & calm news I looked after my little granddaughter this morning. She slept most of the time & was a smiley little soul when she was awake, bliss.
Also, I've begun taking pictures & ornaments out of the front room ready for decorating.
