Good morning, from hospital. They are testing and finding stuff.
CT is next.
The 'Station' is not full, so I've got a room to myself.

By the way, some vocab.
A Doktor has a phd, rankings among medicals is done via compund nouns:
Chefarzt, Assistenzarzt etc.

Miss All the best.

Silkierabbit · 02/09/2022 09:15

Have they kept you in overnight then Prok I am glad you have a room. Have they said anything about what they are seeing? We normally get no news until the end and its always scary when they run more tests but sometimes its to be absolutely certain. I hope they don't find anything bad. Sending lots of love.

MissConductUS · 02/09/2022 10:03

Good morning all. Prok, it sounds like they kept you overnight. I hope that wasn't too uncomfortable. Good luck with the CT scan, and fingers crossed that they don't find anything concerning.

I'm up early. They told me nothing to eat or drink after midnight, but I could take my blood pressure meds with a sip of water. I cheated and took them with a few sips of coffee.

I did all of my errands yesterday but had one inconvenience. I took the key fobs for all three cars to the dealership, had the batteries replaced on all of them and ordered a second key for DS's car. When I got home, DS's car's fob didn't work. Dead. Fortunately, it's old enough so that it starts with the physical key and all the fob does is lock and unlock the car. So I drove the car back to the dealership. They had put the new battery in the fob upside down. So annoying. It wasted about an hour of my time.

DS wanted to get a takeaway from a place in the next town over that we had never tried. They got our order wrong and the food was okay but not great. So that's the last time for them.

I will lift weights and ride the stationary bike for a bit. I won't be able to do that for a while after today. My apple watch will be very unhappy about the lack of exercise.

Sending best wishes to Miss and Prok.

At least you got the key situation sorted before today Miss, it's not hanging over you for when you get out.

Didn't sleep well and DD is at her granny's for a bit so contemplating mopping the floors or taking a nap - somehow I can't see the floors being mopped..yet

MissConductUS · 02/09/2022 14:42

I hope you took the nap, Half.

I'm in pre op waiting to speak to the surgeon and anesthesologist.

I’m so sorry to have missed your news earlier this week, Prok. I hope they didn’t find anything of concern. Sending good wishes to you and Miss.

Lemons I hope you find another job - your managers colleagues sound awful and ridiculous.

In full news, I think my stamina has returned to almost pre- covid levels at long last.

Plastichanger · 02/09/2022 20:32

#dull news

Lemonsandlemonade · 02/09/2022 21:20

Thanks all for your kind words . I’m actively looking for new job.

That is good to hear plastic that you’re feeling more normal after covid.

Hope all goes well MissC

sending 💐Prok.

a slightly amusing story - took DS out in push chair today went to local shop (small express supermarket) I got myself a drink and then payed got half way home and looked at DS who had a unopened chewing gum packet in his mouth. He must have swiped it as I was paying. I sent DH back to pay for them. 🙈

Silkierabbit · 02/09/2022 21:36

Hope it goes well MissC

Hope you are back home now Prok and they did not find anything bad.

Sorry about your job Lemons think you are right to look around.

Hope you had a good nap Half

Glad you are feeling good Plastic

About to have dinner here.

MissConductUS · 02/09/2022 21:53

I'm back home. The surgery went well. My lower back is really sore. They gave me oxycodone but I'm trying just ibuprofen to see how that is. Thanks for all of the good wishes.

I'm having a cookie from Trader Joe's, my first food of the day, so that feels pretty decadent.

halfpasteleven · 02/09/2022 21:55

There really is a lot to be said for naps...
Hope all goes well Miss and Prok.
Best of luck with the job hunt Lemons - life is too short to put up with that.
Glad you're feeling better Plastic.
Bon Appetite Silkie!

MissConductUS · 02/09/2022 22:01

Smart to look around Lemons. Set up a profile on indeed.com if you don't have one already.

Glad the procedure went well, MissC - don’t try to be too brave with pain relief though, will you?

Prok, I hope you’re doing OK.

MissConductUS · 03/09/2022 13:29

Thanks, Hilda. I couldn't get to sleep last night, so I took one of the tablets around 1:00 and then slept from 2 to 4 AM, so I'm pretty tired now. I am feeling somewhat less sore, so I'm hoping I can make do with ibuprofen from now on.

One annoying thing is that I can't bend over at the waist for the next few weeks. It puts too much stress on the lower spine. I had no idea how many things I pick up from the floor daily. I can bend at the knees and get close to the floor, but if that doesn't work, I have to get DS or DH to get it for me. It's hard just getting things out of the lower shelf of the fridge.

So just a quiet day for me, and hopefully, a nap later.

In other news, while I was under the knife, DS and DH went to a lovely shopping mall 10 minutes away, had a nice lunch, and bought DS some dress shirts and trousers at Banana Republic for when he starts his job in two weeks. Did they bring me a treat or a snack, knowing that I had not eaten all day? No.

Glad surgery is done MissC and take it easy.

Have you had any news Prok I really hope things are OK and sending love.

Still incredibly difficult re DS education and also coincides with my hormone tablets so been quite depressed but will see oncologist on 8th.

Can you buy or borrow a "grabber"? I wouldn't advise them for heavy items, but they're useful for light stuff. www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwi82pWP-_j5AhXGesAKHYy6Dr4QFnoECCYQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.abilitysuperstore.com%2Fcollections%2Freachers-grabbers&usg=AOvVaw0jtTijt3LWwnzzKwtT8g3B

MissConductUS · 03/09/2022 17:08

That's a great idea, Sue. I've just ordered one from Amazon and should have it tomorrow.

It's a lovely late summer day here. By the way, happy meteorological fall, everyone. It was officially 1/9.

Autumn is my favourite time of year. I love sunny September/October days. The new job started well, slowly as I was in pre-INSET and then we have two INSET days. Am hoping I can get up to speed quickly enough to be useful.

Hope you are holding up okay Prok thinking of and praying for you.

Glad the surgery went well Miss and hope the recovery goes smoothly.

All types of educational and childcare settings are desperately seeking staff (including managerial) round here Lemons perhaps it’s the same where you are?

mathanxiety · 04/09/2022 05:53

Sending best wishes for an uncomplicated recovery, MissC. I was going to suggest a grabber but Sueelleker beat me to it.

Prok I hope you're OK and that you'll hear hopeful news.

Weather here has been hot but it's summer's last hurrah I think. Cooler weather is forecast for the next week. The public pools were standing room only today.

The dryer in the basement seems to have packed it in. I'm going to try a load of laundry in it just to be sure. I can dry everything on my racks if it really has kicked the bucket.

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/09/2022 08:20

I too like crisp autumn days not like today which is wet and windy here!

Glad first couple of days went well Helena. Unfortunately in my area there are very few jobs! I want to get back into school. In the future would love to do a PGCE but need need my GCSE English up to a B first.

wow math a laundry space in a basement to me this is so cool, we were looking at a tumble drier but with energy bills as they are we won’t be getting one. 🙈

May take DS swimming and need things for work so will have to go to shops.

Hope your ok Prok and MissC.

MissConductUS · 04/09/2022 21:25

The grabber came today from Amazon, and it's brilliant! Thanks, Sue. So far, it has retrieved a tiny tablet, a bar of soap in the shower, and a piece of cling film I dropped in the kitchen.

I've been lying down most of the day. I have to lie on my side to avoid pressure on the surgical site. I did manage to get some sleep last night with the help of the pain medication. I'm going to make a small complaint to the surgical center. They sent me home with three EKG electrodes stuck to my back. I also bled through the bandage, and they neglected to give me another. Fortunately, I have a few I keep at home.

It's still fairly painful, but less so than yesterday, and the sciatic pain in my leg is mainly gone.

My next medical goal will be to get the new bivalent covid vaccine, but it's not in my local pharmacy yet. I'd like DS to get his before he starts working in NYC.

We were going to grill chicken for dinner, but it's raining, so Tex-Mex takeaway may be on the cards. We have our weekly family Zoom call coming up shortly.

Glad you're getting on well with the grabber Miss and hope the recovery continues to go well.

Thinking of you Prok and sending you good wishes.

I have a tough day re DS dad tomorrow - will be glad when it's tomorrow evening.

Silkierabbit · 05/09/2022 02:40

Wishing you strength and love to get through today Half

Hope things are OK Prok are you still in hospital hope you are back home.

Hope you continue to recover OK MissC

Glad job going well Helena

Did some cleaning of upstairs.

Silkierabbit · 05/09/2022 02:46

I made a joke Floof twitter about Floof wanting the new PM to address tabby cats needing more food and I have had a few US people not realise its a joke and offering where to get food from. So I had to post another pic of Floofs real bowls. So they could see Floof is just greedy.
