Just been called a fat bitch for no reason

I was walking to collect DS from school and whilst on my way some ‘man’ for absolutely no reason at all, decided to shout “fat bitch” at me out of his car window. What’s hurt me the most is that I’ve recently lost a bit of weight and am continuing doing so, which has sparked a little bit of confidence back in me. I’ve started making more of an effort with my hair and makeup and have bought myself some new clothes. How can I not let this arsehole get to me and make me not want to carry on losing weight😔 I don’t understand why you would do that to somebody!?

Yesterday as I was walking to my early evening supermarket shift in my uniform, with my name badge on, some men walked past on their way to the pub and started calling out my name and saying sexual things. I was so shocked. Just walking to work! These assholes are everywhere OP. I'm sorry it's upset you, it did me too. Try to forget it and don't let it knock you.

RevoltingHumanHead · 17/06/2022 20:02

And all these arseholes would loose their minds if a fellow knuckle dragger did the same to their beloved mum/sis/girlfriend.

RevoltingHumanHead · 17/06/2022 20:03

lose

curlymom · 17/06/2022 20:06

I would have shouted something back. About how small his bits are. He’s a nobody ignore him

CountTheStars · 17/06/2022 20:17

I was called a cunt last week by a man in a car driving past me (we both had our windows down, I was driving the other way.)

I honestly can’t understand where some people are coming from. I’d hate to be them

Maybe he was on the phone to his wife 😂

I've had this so many times, I'm subconsciously braced for it in public, it's so unfair. It's so frustrating that they are the ones in the wrong but we are the ones left feeling bad.

The tiny dick comments don't sit right with me, though. It's going to their level and in my depraved history there doesn't seem to be any correlation between size and dickheadedness. Effective if you can somehow retaliate to them with it because i guess, to them, a man having a small cock is the worst thing but not usually possible (or safe) to do. They aren't bad men because they have small dicks, they are just bad men.

And I don't know about them all having sad lives either - misogynist men are not rare, they aren't all incel basement dwellers - they are boyfriends, dads and husbands with friends they share this banter with.

I'm sorry - I know it's nice to think of them as sad, shrivelled willy tossers but they aren't - these are 'normal' men who walk among us and that is terrifying.

Solidarity all that have experienced this. It's took me to 40 to realise it's not 'personal' as whatever size/style i've been, i've still had it, but it still stings.

coffeeschmoffee · 17/06/2022 20:23

Agree, it's nothing to do with penis size! It's pure misogyny.

Northernsouloldies · 17/06/2022 20:27

I've been called a fat cunt, my stock in trade answer to this is, I can do something about being fat, but u will always be stupid now fuck off. It works a treat.

I just don't think ridiculing misogynists saying they have tiny dicks/ are short/ lonely/ are balding etc. is the 'gotcha' it's supposed to be. It's saying that if they're tall and gregarious with good hair and a big dick, then their misogyny is legitimate. And there are plenty that fit that description.

It's not just sad little fuckers who act like this, it's an epidemic.

How pathetic do you have to be to shout stuff at random people in the street? I know it's hard but try to see it as a reflection of how inadequate he is rather than anything to do with you.

Frazzledmummy123 · 17/06/2022 23:15

I am sorry this happened 💐.

As others have said, he more than likely would have shouted it to many other women too regardless of weight, he was probably acting up to show off to his mate(s) in the car (pathetic!), or was so deeply unhappy in himself he had to bring someone else down. All a reflection on him, nothing at all to do with you.

It is incredibly difficult when someone insults your appearance in a horrible way. I have had hang ups about my looks since I was a child. Then one time when I was about 14, my friend and I were sitting on the wall of her parents house waiting on a delivery and 2 boys roughly our own age walked past. One said (with full eye contact with me) "hi ugly" then sniggered and walked away. I felt numb and as though I'd been kicked in the stomach. I cried myself to sleep that night and that comment stayed with me for many years, even to this day it remains in my head. Over the years, I've had some positive male attention, and unbiased people have complimented me and I've been told many times I am pretty so I can't be all that bad lol.

The reason I told you this is because looking back from a bystander's perspective, it was probably some daft wee teen boy trying to act smart to big himself up to his mate, or just looking for attention and trying to be noticed. It was probably same with the guy in the car to you. Trying to act smart and show off or get attention.

LeaveIt · 18/06/2022 08:37

I remember about 43 years ago, when I was 8, some random man shouting out to my Mum “you ugly four-eyed cunt”. I was so angry and indignant on her behalf. What could possibly give any person the right just to insult someone for no reason? Says more about them than anything else but it still stings.

RooRem2 · 18/06/2022 09:38

@LeaveIt thats awful. There’s just no need for it is there😡 there’s some really strange people out there

It's not your weight OP, I've had this exact thing happen to me several times when out cycling or running (pre-kids size 8/10) . Guys slow down there car to drive alongside me while shouting abuse out the window inc fat/weight abuse even tho I wasn't overweight! It put me off running by myself but i think thats the point - These are the same men that would have us chained to the kitchen sink given half the chance, they dont think women should be out existing in the world independently so take it upon themselves to try and intimidate us. It's not you - it's them
