Just been called a fat bitch for no reason

I was walking to collect DS from school and whilst on my way some ‘man’ for absolutely no reason at all, decided to shout “fat bitch” at me out of his car window. What’s hurt me the most is that I’ve recently lost a bit of weight and am continuing doing so, which has sparked a little bit of confidence back in me. I’ve started making more of an effort with my hair and makeup and have bought myself some new clothes. How can I not let this arsehole get to me and make me not want to carry on losing weight😔 I don’t understand why you would do that to somebody!?

oh OP he’s a fuckwit. One of them yelled “fat cunt” from his car at me while I waddled across the road out of his way when 37 weeks pregnant with DS. I laughed in his face at the time - as in “no shit, I’m 9 months pregnant, prawn dick” - but still went home and had a good cry.

Gosh when I was younger and a size 6-8 men would shout at me from cars all the time
sometimes it was intended as a compliment
often it was to tell me I was a slag, or ugly, or fat. As a child, grown men would make rude comments and gestures at me, I certainly don’t think that was about me, anymore than this is about you.
I just think men like to put women down really. Or make them feel unsafe so the men feel powerful?

just imagine what sort of person does that, and why you would never do that to someone else. And you can probably work out what sort of person he was. Just feel sad for him that even as an adult that’s who he is.

Alternatively know you look good as you are. Personally I wouldn't let the judgement of this loser define me, and certainly wouldn't lose weight to make him feel attracted to me😩

No, I don't mean it's an excuse, but it's a possible explanation. Normal people from normal homes and with a healthy respect for other human beings generally don't go around shouting insults at people from their car window.

I wonder if he'd have done it if Op's dh (or any man) had been with her?

I agree with this. I was once memorably called a slag in broad daylight in Winchester. And a silly bitch in the checkout queue M&Co! I wasn't doing anything other than being a woman going about my day at the time.
