How many more ways to fuck up the country can this government invent?

I’m 58 and have never ever seen a government so full of lying, corrupt twats who just don’t give a shit.

And as l grew up under Thatchet l think that’s saying something! It’s like a horror show watching them.

If you can’t get a visa to work somewhere else that’s on you, not the government.

It very much is on the government that we now need a visa at all.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 15/06/2022 21:58

You could always go to Rwanda. Plenty of space on that plane.

No, it’s on the population, which voted to leave the EU.

It’s still really easy to work on the continent though if you have the skills.

Blaming outside factors rather than taking responsibility for your future is rarely the route to happiness.

balalake · 15/06/2022 22:05

Part of the reason I hated the policies of Mrs Thatcher was because of her ability to get them done, those I hated (most) and the few I agreed with.

If Mrs Thatcher had been PM in March 2020 there would have been no dithering, no missed meetings, the borders would have been closed to all but freight, and at least 20,000 people fewer would have died of Covid. There also would have been much fewer instances of breaches of Covid restrictions by everyone.

Shellsbelles · 15/06/2022 22:07

Serious question, do you think there is actually a master plan, with a small minority winning, or it is just bumbling from one incompetent decision to the next?

I'm not interested in rehashing these tedious Brexit arguments.

I didn't vote for any of this shit, or for any of the fuckers currently implementing this hideous car crash version of the referendum result. I never would.

User135644 · 15/06/2022 22:08

But the English love their Tories and persist in voting for them so we're stuck with them.

AStar98 · 15/06/2022 22:09

These people put who they think they are over any actual responsibility.

They are tax payer funded. They are public servants, not serving the public.

Imagine working in the public sector and breaking criminal law. You wouldn't have a job to come back to, so why does HE?!

HE needs to go. But he won't. He's clawed on throughout everything. He has no conscious, he thinks he answers to nobody. And you could see it coming when TM resigned.

I can never forgive Borus Johnson for making me think even Thatcher was better. But at least she had integrity and principles and a level of competence, even if her politics were awful.

But it was Thatcher that ushered in so many policies that have ruined the country and sold the family silver. 40 years of neoliberalism that she started, have wrecked this country, just as Reagan did in America.

So what though? The decision was based on the outcome of a referendum, of course not everyone got the outcome that they wanted.

Where is it that you want to live and work but currently can’t?

User135644 · 15/06/2022 22:15

The old school Conservatives were a totally different breed to this bunch of reprobates.

There hasn't been anything conservative about the conservatives for a long time. At least since the Eton restaurant trashers took over the party with Call Me Dave.

Yvette Cooper pretty was amazing today - taking apart the Rwanda Policy!

Sadly don't think it'll make a tuppence bit of difference though.

This lot are just basically a bunch of opportunist criminals who are getting away with it. And so carrying on to get away with it some more - scorched earth mentality.

Thatcher was, I think, a woman with a limited intelligence, unable to see things from the point of view of other peoples' lives. But she would have long ago resigned in Johnson's situation.

beguilingeyes · 15/06/2022 22:17

It still blows my mind that he put Lebedev in the House Of Lords without any scrutiny (or there was scrutiny but no one's allowed to see it).
And Jennifer Arcuri... giving his mistress our money and apparently he's done nothing wrong!?!
The Grenfell Inquiry is showing how no one is responsible for anything in this country any more. Endless buck-passing and it's all someone else's fault. Underlined by a callousness that takes my breath away.

beguilingeyes · 15/06/2022 22:19

Sarahcoggles · 15/06/2022 21:39

I'm not saying I disagree, because I don't - but if England is so awful, why do people want to come here?

The UK being a better bet than being blown up or tortured is a pretty low bar to set.

tobee · 15/06/2022 22:19

And it pisses me off so much when Johnson says other people are running down this country. If I didn't like this country I wouldn't give the shit that I do.

Who really is running down the country, Johnson? Look in the mirror.

Cuck00soup · 15/06/2022 22:20

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 15/06/2022 22:21

I completely agree, OP. This lot are trolling us. They genuinely don’t give a shit and you can feel the barely suppressed smirk.

1nsertusername · 15/06/2022 22:21

Maybe with the heatwave people will rise up.....

The real sadness is that we have no one better waiting or willing to take over regardless of political leaning.

At almost 40,my husband and I do not know anyone in politics. In the jobs we have done/do we really should do.

The people who should be politicians are not becoming them, its career politicians rather than people who have real world experience.

All integrity has gone, accountability is non existent and everyone is just looking towards the next election, not the long term future of the nation.

The truth is the UK is still better that most places in the world. I've just come back from living abroad for a few years and thought long and hard where I wanted to live.

In a world of musical chairs, the music is about to stop. With all the issues and shit politicians I would rather be stuck in the UK than any other country.

Thatcher and Johnson never had an ounce of empathy between them.

User135644 · 15/06/2022 22:24

Neither had empathy but Johnson is a narcissist and possible sociopath.

As in no master plan. Not even JRM

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 15/06/2022 22:28

I think people aren’t rising up because they’re kind of brow beaten by the daily grind.

Scrimp and scrape on minimum wage
Cant buy a house
No money for fun
Cant run a car.
Hungry kids
shit services

It grinds you down and becomes about surviving. No energy left to protest.

WishILivedInThrushGreen · 15/06/2022 22:30

I'm the same age as you OP.

Just watching the news now is making me want to hurl a brick at the screen.

Like her or loathe her, Thatcher had integrity.

I just cannot believe the scale of corruption among our elected elite.
Just a quick scan of Members' interests is too shocking to be believed.

Cronyism, backhanders, contracts awarded to relatives and mates , some of which were declared illegal.

And now... an agreement to send refugees and a shit ton of money to Rwanda in exchange for their refugees??

Total shitshow .

Cuck00soup · 15/06/2022 22:32

Thatcher believed she knew best and carried on her own sweet way regardless. Actually she thought she knew what people needed better than they did.

Boris only wants to do what's best for Boris so people don't matter at all.
