How many more ways to fuck up the country can this government invent?

I’m 58 and have never ever seen a government so full of lying, corrupt twats who just don’t give a shit.

And as l grew up under Thatchet l think that’s saying something! It’s like a horror show watching them.

My memories start with Wilson and Heath. Up until Blair (who, overall, was a good PM) politicians were judged on merit, policies and actions, not personality or media appeal.

Brown would have been a great PM in the 70's but the right wing press decreed that they would decide who should rule in the 21st century and the UK ended up with the political equivalent of princess Diana - it needs a princess Anne.

goodcall101 · 15/06/2022 21:26

It’s tragic, should be a good country, prosperous, fair, free, it should be thriving at least on a par with other mature democracies, instead it’s become so dystopian on every level. Every time you think they couldn’t possibly out do themselves with the horror, they go right ahead and prove you wrong.
To think everyone was fretting about what might happen if Corbyn got in?! Even if you hate his politics (I don’t personally, not all of it anyway) anyone can see he at least had integrity and some sense of purpose.

Blusteryday101 · 15/06/2022 21:27

I'm the same age as you op and totally agree! It's so utterly depressing and bleak given that a way out of the mire is not particularly clear currently.

I would add corruption, scandal and sleaze to your list from minor infractions such as failure to declare gifted holidays and interior decorating to major financial impropriety such as those dubious events involving PPE contracts, Robert Jenrick and Owen Patterson and of course Partygate.

GodneySaysWorkBitch · 15/06/2022 21:08

Who would I rather have? Anyone really. The 8 yo lad downstairs who spent 2020 saying "bye bye covid" in the hopes it would all be over soon. The bloke I used to work for who dissolved his business and instead set himself up as an exclusive potter for the emerging TOWIE market. The girl I went to school with who practiced writhing around on the playing field in the hope she would indeed grow up to be a dolphin. In fact pretty much every person I've ever met in my long long life including people now dead would make a better job of running the country than this sack full of lazy carcinogenic spivs.

Legend. That is all.

LizzieSiddal · 15/06/2022 21:32

Agree with you, it’s depressing and scary. What the heck will he do next? He’s lied, lied and lied again and he gets away with it every single time.

beguilingeyes · 15/06/2022 21:32

The worst part is that they seem utterly unaccountable. Johnson is his own judge and jury and tells tells us to 'move on' all the time. They have such obvious contempt for us all.
And without wanting to sound like my nan..and I know the world's in crisis etc...but does he have to look like an unmade bed all the time.
He's a multi millionaire FFS...he can afford handmade suits. I think he even got married in that rumpled navy thing he's always wearing.

Toohottt · 15/06/2022 21:34

it feels like there aren’t any adults in charge. Hasn’t done since Brexit really

I can never forgive Borus Johnson for making me think even Thatcher was better. But at least she had integrity and principles and a level of competence, even if her politics were awful.

DH and I were saying exactly the same the other day. At least Thatcher had integrity, principles and morals, unlike this shower of utterly appalling, amoral, venal, craven arseholes.

I agree that it feels as if the country is being slapped in the face constantly, staggers to get up and just gets slapped back down again. I'm worried that sooner or later we're not going to get back up. I think that's what this government is hoping for.

Fucking bastards. I loathe them all.

FrasierCraneDay · 15/06/2022 21:37

This country is an absolute shit show of embarrassment. Calling Johnson a clown is an insult to clowns. Patel is pure evil, if anyone had any sense they'd ship that bitch off to a barren island and leave her there. I genuinely can not understand the mind of people that continue to vote for this. We have mp's telling the users if foodbanks they simply don't know how to cook?! Give me strength, Johnson was asked about the price of a loaf of bread and he didn't have a damn clue. Sunak took a stab in the dark about the amount of healthy start vouchers people were entitled too.

Sarahcoggles · 15/06/2022 21:39

I'm not saying I disagree, because I don't - but if England is so awful, why do people want to come here?

AmaryIlis · 15/06/2022 21:40

The sheer arrogance and nastiness of so many of their defenders on here is pretty revealing. And they keep displaying similar techniques of trying to distract everyone, ignoring any inconvenient facts, and repeating argument that they know perfectly well have been thoroughly debunked several times over.

I would like to emphasise that there are honourable exceptions, but they tend not to be the more vocal posters.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/06/2022 21:41

Neverendingdust · 15/06/2022 21:22

Vote for a clown, you get a circus. What did everyone expect?

The sad absurdity is there’s still support from a large chunk of the electorate for this utterly useless sham government. AND!!! The outlook is it’s only going to get much worse!

🤣😂 Great Britain.
LOL.

My fucking mother is on that bench. Honestly, words fail me. We silently agreed not to mention it again after I told her that BoZo is a disgrace to the role of PM!

Thatcher may not have been many people's ideal PM, but she would never have lied and would never have tolerated rule-breaking by her staff. The old school Conservatives were a totally different breed to this bunch of reprobates.

And then there's the utter incompetence of people like Raab, Braverman and Dorries.

OrangeNeon · 15/06/2022 21:43

I agree it's about time we took to the streets. Although, nothing I've ever marched for has actually happened and this bunch of fuckers wouldn't care anyway.

Maybe a general strike...?

I'm not saying I disagree, because I don't - but if England is so awful, why do people want to come here?

Are you seriously asking that or trying to be goady? Do you mean asylum seekers? Those who relocate here for work?

NotKevinTurvey · 15/06/2022 21:44

leotardrock · 15/06/2022 21:05

I'd be looking to get out & live somewhere else but the bastards have taken free movement away! 😕

If you can’t get a visa to work somewhere else that’s on you, not the government.

Escarpahell · 15/06/2022 21:45

Sarahcoggles · 15/06/2022 21:39

I'm not saying I disagree, because I don't - but if England is so awful, why do people want to come here?

Because English is an international language that most asylum seekers will have at least a rudimentary knowledge of and they may well have family, friends or a settled community here who they can contact.

Arnaquer · 15/06/2022 21:45

I agree OP.
I am 50 and I feel constant anger towards BJ and his cronies.

Thatcher had her faults but at least her vision was for everyone that worked hard in life they could have a go and make something of themselves. Today it is just the rich getting richer.
The amount of people having to use Food banks is shameful.
The Rwanda policy is callous.

I am politically slightly left of centre but have voted for the Tories and Labour in the past but I can tell you now I will never vote Tory until the likes of BJ and JRM are long gone.

AmaryIlis · 15/06/2022 21:47

My father is a rabid right winger and Thatcher supporter. Her only problem in his eyes is that she was a bit of a wet lefty. He utterly despises Johnson - and formed that opinion within a few months of his becoming PM, so well before some of his most egregious activities.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 15/06/2022 21:48

I haven’t voted Tory, but l accept they have to exist and we have to have governments with them. But how did it go from John Major to this?

OP posts:
DowningStreetParty · 15/06/2022 21:49

You’re absolutely right OP, they’re shocking me daily, and every time I think they surely can’t be any more appalling, they soon are.
They’re probably going to take down the Human Rights Act next. Sickening. Boris Johnson and his crew of Brexiteer yes-people are beyond shameful.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 15/06/2022 21:49

@GodneySaysWorkBitch pockets you say ? I love a pocket , although with brain fog, I always end up patting myself down looking for stuff, like a slowed down Steps dance routine, with less glitter and more thread veins and grey hair.

What can we actually do though ? I am happy to email my MP, rarely does he vote the way I would like him to, but he always sends a reply using quality note paper which is a nice distraction from the endless increasing bills.
I would strike but as a nurse they have me by the short and curlies because I do actually care about the people under my care, unlike them.
Not mad keen on violence, I don't have much stamina when it comes to running, and my aim is poor when it comes to throwing stuff, as the bin at work will testify, so count me out of any molotov cocktail action.
Happy to parcipate in anything legal, that doesn't involve running, violence or chucking stuff.

Daftasabroom · 15/06/2022 21:50

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow I didn't like Thatcher either but if she'd had to deal with COVID I can well imagine her and Dennis sitting down on their own to a hard boiled egg with toast.

leotardrock · 15/06/2022 21:52

Notkevin if they do visa's for retirement I'll apply for one! 🙄

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 15/06/2022 21:55

‘Levelling up’

l live in Sheffield. We were one of the first to receive the ‘grant’ Except it was less than the cut the implemented on the council the year before.🙄
