I wondered why my niece (19) was asking me about seeing Kate Bush at Hammersmith afew years as she’d never mentioned her before. Ive never watched Stranger Things but how lovely that a new generation is listening to her www.theguardian.com/music/2022/jun/10/kate-bushs-running-up-that-hill-climbs-higher-than-ever-to-no-2-in-charts i was 8 in 1979 but can still remember being hypnotised by her. And then after that she was the soundtrack to my uni days.

I love Sensual World and Army Dreamers her videos were bizarre😃

So hard to choose. She is wonderful!

Hello Earth
Jig of Life
Rocket's Tail

The kick inside

bramblebot · 18/06/2022 21:26

Love the Alan partridge tribute to Kate Bush , especially the "rolling the ball"

SaintCethleann · 18/06/2022 21:27

Hammer Horror and Rubber-band Girl, plus Wuthering Heights... Everything else she's ever recorded...

Great news that she's no 1 again - I wondered why everyone was suddenly talking about Running! 😄

BracedlnEndIessJanuary · 18/06/2022 21:28

Cloudbusting
It was used at the end of Palm Springs and my heart exploded hearing it again.
I also love Be Kind to my mistakes (Castaway ost)
This woman's work is beautiful as is Moments of pleasure. When she speaks to those she lost, I always cry.

Admire her enormously. Sad we will never see footage from her last live performances as they were filmed I believe but she was unhappy with it (admirable as she would have cleared up £££ but has always put product over profit).

bramblebot · 18/06/2022 21:31

The kick inside album is one of the most amazing works of art ever.
She is a genius

I am curious as to how the orchestral arrangement on top came about - was it the director Levy himself then (as the above article implies) the musical director or another technician?
I love the original, listened to the 2012 Olympics version (could not see much difference), like the Placebo cover and have seen the Stranger Things scene and various orchestral versions on youtube.
Can anyone tell me who performed the orchestral user on top of Kate's vocals? I like the drama of it but am surprised she agreed, given how usually she has control over all of her music and use. I assume she must have consented but wondered who did the final mix?
Anyone know?

This is so lovely! And nostalgic (Swap Shop!)
in line with this thread, Kate tells the viewers what HER favourite Kate Bush song is (right at the end) Smile

HeyDelRey · 19/06/2022 15:46

It has to be 'Oh To Be In Love"

It's such odd behaviour. If the thread title was "Do you think Kate Bush has a good voice?" fair enough. I wouldn't dream of going on a thread asking people to name their favourite One Direction song (for eg) to bitchplop people who love them.

Anyway, so pleased about the number 1. Go Kate!

I once got absolutely slated for daring to post an opposing opinion on a thread in AIBU. Where you are post specifically asking for an opinion.
This thread is asking for KB lovers to name a favourite song.
HATERS BACK OFF!!!

None.

She is extremely cringeworthy. I physically can't watch or listen to her.

That's a shame because she speaks very highly of you 🙄

This is why I can't listen to Them Heavy People without thinking of Steve Coogan 😂

I had a 5 hour car journey on Friday and mainly listened to Kate. Forgot how much I loved King of the Mountain and Experiment IV. My voice was hoarse by the time I reached my destination.

Never seem that, very funny.

Annabelle69 · 20/06/2022 23:17

The Dreaming is her album of genius for me. Of the top of my head...

The Night of the Swallow
This Woman's Work
Moments of Pleasure
Oh to be in love
Leave it open

It's hard to chose only a few.

Inkanta · 21/06/2022 05:58

The whole album Hounds of Love is a masterpiece - and with the track Running up that Hill. So glad Kate's genius is being appreciated some more.

Xmas1Xmas2Xmas3 · 21/06/2022 06:19

I'm loving that my 13yo is happily singing along to KB tunes. She's added loads to my Spotify! My fave is Breathing . There's nobody quite like Kate Bush. Dd loves Army dreamers.

This Woman's Work- as others have said it was so well placed in the clean up scene of the Handmaids Tale.
And cloud busting.
I can't think of a song of hers I don't like

That was cloudbusting
womans work was in the fake hanging scene I think

ClinkeyMonkey · 21/06/2022 08:34

Never saw that Steve Coogan video before. Absolutely brilliant!!

TanteRose · 22/06/2022 10:12

Without a doubt.. don't give up .. with Peter Gabrielle

Yes - spellbinding.

The saxophone song
James and the cold fun

Don't really know her later works

Pedallleur · 22/06/2022 10:20

her later works become works of art (imo). hounds of love, The Dreaming etc. just recorded with her usual attention to detail and no time limit. On the radio? That should be headline news - reclusive artist emerges (briefly). if she is selling her catalogue now is when the price will be at its highest
