What is your favourite Kate Bush song?

I wondered why my niece (19) was asking me about seeing Kate Bush at Hammersmith afew years as she’d never mentioned her before. Ive never watched Stranger Things but how lovely that a new generation is listening to her www.theguardian.com/music/2022/jun/10/kate-bushs-running-up-that-hill-climbs-higher-than-ever-to-no-2-in-charts i was 8 in 1979 but can still remember being hypnotised by her. And then after that she was the soundtrack to my uni days.

Kate sang Cloudbusting as her final song at the 2014 Hammersmith concert and we all joined in … it was absolutely mind blowing

I can't chose a favourite - she's written so many beautiful extraordinary songs and I'm so pleased she's back at no 1. Need to watch this Stranger Things.

Amazing how these things happen, it’s her first number one single in over 44 years. I always thought Running Up That Hill was one of her best songs.

It’s a bit Partridge but I have always really liked Babooshka.

So glad she’s having a resurgence- that Stranger Things episode was absolute genius.
i have so many - I get goosebumps hearing the intro to Babushka, Running Up That Hill (obviously), and Cloudbusting.

But my absolute favourite is The Man with the Child in his Eyes. I clearly remember hearing it for the first time when I was about 8, going through my Mum’s tapes. I rewound it and listened to it over and over until I knew it off by heart. The melody and the lyrics just speak to me.

there was an hour of her on R2 last night. Forgot about Experiment 4 and Big Sky. This Womans Work or Cloudbusting are exceptional but her output rose in quality as she progressed and her whole catalogue is a cut above so many others. She was/is unique. The fact she chose to step away from everything, not even releasing the film of the 2014 shows makes her more enigmatic.

And Dream of Sheep and A Coral Room. A Coral Room is so, so beautiful. Only Kate could sing about a little brown jug and reduce the listener to tears. She is a genius.

It’s not my most favourite song but I have a special place in my heart for Among Angels - remember how she sang it, just her at the piano, just before that Cloudbusting encore.
Her voice was pitch perfect and you could hear a pin drop! I actually recorded that song on my iPhone (under my seat! Remember how she didn’t want anyone to use their phone at the concert - and it seems we all (mostly) stuck to the rule because there are VERY few videos of her Hammersmith performances)

It's such odd behaviour. If the thread title was "Do you think Kate Bush has a good voice?" fair enough. I wouldn't dream of going on a thread asking people to name their favourite One Direction song (for eg) to bitchplop people who love them.

We had an amazing discussion about Wuthering Heights the book, and she is now going to read. No interest before.
