I wondered why my niece (19) was asking me about seeing Kate Bush at Hammersmith afew years as she’d never mentioned her before. Ive never watched Stranger Things but how lovely that a new generation is listening to her www.theguardian.com/music/2022/jun/10/kate-bushs-running-up-that-hill-climbs-higher-than-ever-to-no-2-in-charts i was 8 in 1979 but can still remember being hypnotised by her. And then after that she was the soundtrack to my uni days.

I love Sensual World and Army Dreamers her videos were bizarre😃

All. Of. Them.

I've been in love with her for 42 years. Her music is the soundtrack to my life.

I was never a particular fan, until I saw Kate and her band performing Running up That Hill on the Wogan show when it first came out in 85. I just couldn’t believe how brilliant the song was, musically rhythmically & lyrically. We have all thought ‘If I only could, I’d make a deal with God’ at some point, haven’t we? I bought Hounds of Love as soon as I could and I still have my copy today.

Under The Ivy , so delicate & haunting, same with This Woman’s Work.
You Want Alchemy “ they turn the roses into gold” 🐝
An Architect’s Dream, it’s full of sunshine.
Hounds of Love
It’s impossible to pick, she is incredible & her videos are stunning.
I was fortunate to see Kate at Hammersmith in 2014 absolutely amazing and unforgettable.

In search of Peter Pan

Hermione101 · 10/06/2022 22:50

Hammer horror, Babooshka, the sensual world, all of the ninth wave. Love it all.

Hermione101 · 10/06/2022 22:52

@RhannionKPSS I saw her there too. Unbelievable show, I had tears through the entire show.

Kashka from Baghdad is good.
James and the Cold Gun
Moving

As others have said, all of 'Kick Inside '. Think she writes brilliantly about love. She's a genius.

Went to see Cloudbusting after it was postponed by COVID. Almost as good as the real thing.

They're all unique and it's hard to choose just one. She is a one of a kind artist. I have a soft spot for Babushka and Running up that hill as those are the first couple of hers I heard as a 6 year old.

Some pps have already mentioned Don't give up with Peter Gabriel which I also like. Games without Frontiers wouldn't be the same without her whispering "Jeux sans frontiers".

Badlifeday · 10/06/2022 22:59

thank you @pointythings
Don't think it was 10cc though?
I will stop cluttering the thread with mentions of less-impressive (albeit ridiculously catchy Grin) songs

Diverseopinions · 10/06/2022 22:59

In 'Moving'' voice, lyrics, and melody all seem to swim together perfectly - and it's a universal theme of love everyone can relate to.

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 10/06/2022 23:00

This woman's work
Running up that hill
Wuthering heights

CPL593H · 10/06/2022 23:00

Love so many but

  1. This Woman's Work (one of the greatest songs every written, IMHO)

  2. Oh England My Lionheart.

  3. The Man With the Child In His Eyes

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 10/06/2022 23:02

I love running up that hill (80’s baby here) I knew as soon as I watched stranger things that it would go in the chart. I called it straight away.

CPL593H · 10/06/2022 23:03

Oh and Hell yes, Under the Ivy (thanks @RhannionKPSS)

How could anyone choose one?!
