I wondered why my niece (19) was asking me about seeing Kate Bush at Hammersmith afew years as she’d never mentioned her before. Ive never watched Stranger Things but how lovely that a new generation is listening to her www.theguardian.com/music/2022/jun/10/kate-bushs-running-up-that-hill-climbs-higher-than-ever-to-no-2-in-charts i was 8 in 1979 but can still remember being hypnotised by her. And then after that she was the soundtrack to my uni days.

I love Sensual World and Army Dreamers her videos were bizarre😃

We can now all take our DC with us if she tours around the UK

God I hope she she does

Sqeebling · 10/06/2022 21:55

Kate Bush The Whole Story was the cassette I had

whenwillthemadnessend · 10/06/2022 21:57

Cloudbusting is lovely. Probably my favourite. It's such a sad story but sounds so joyful in the chorus I find it really uplifting.

Also love wuthering heights
Baboska
Woman's work
Wow
The man with the child in his eyes.

This Woman's Work. Although it might not be her best song but I think it is wonderful, I could listen to it over and over.

dolphinsarentcommon · 10/06/2022 22:10

The man with the child in his eyes.

No contest

flashheartsmoustache · 10/06/2022 22:23

Cloudbusting. Every time.

Makes me feel euphoric when I'm happy and cry when I'm sad. Amazing song.

I love Kate.

Confuseddotcom12345 · 10/06/2022 22:26

Well she sings very clearly so yes, I'd imagine most of us know what the song is about!
It's like the Pina Colada song, without the happy ending.

I'm loving this thread, lots of great songs and they all being back memories. The first time I ever heard of her was when she did Them Heavy People on Saturday Night Live.. I was living in a rural southern town in the USA and I'd never seen it heard anything like her before, the movements and the sound, and I was instantly mesmerized. Now I've lived in the UK for 30 years. I managed to find that clip after a bit of searching.. it's near the end but still makes me remember why I wanted to come to England!

It's so hard to choose as I love so many of her songs. But it always comes back to Wuthering Heights, for me. It's an obvious choice of course, but it's just so magical!

The2Omicronnies · 10/06/2022 22:31

My absolute favourite is December Will Be Magic Again. It was on a Christmas compilation tape my grandparents had in the late 80s and I remember being utterly mesmerised by it. For some reason, I cannot find it on any streaming services, but I found an obscure Christmas CD with it on, and I always have it in my car.

She performed it for a TOTP Christmas special, so it is usually televised annually. Utterly beautiful.

James and the cold gun
L'amour looks something like you
In fact , all of ' the kick inside '

Couldn't agree more. One of my all time favourite albums.

Hounds of Love!

Arnaquer · 10/06/2022 22:33

This Woman's Work- as others have said it was so well placed in the clean up scene of the Handmaids Tale.
And cloud busting.
I can't think of a song of hers I don't like

ShirleyJackson · 10/06/2022 22:33

I love her ❤️

Cloudbusting is probably my favourite. I've never seen her live sadly.

pointythings · 10/06/2022 22:34

@xoxFulhamMUMMY The song @Badlifeday is referring to is called 'Escape' by 10cc. The narrative is the same - narrator answers a lonely hearts ad, turns out the person who placed it is his other half and they rekindle their love.

Babooshka has the same narrative but there isn't a happy ending - it's left open what happens next.

What are you talking about? I imagine pretty much everyone on this thread knows and understands the lyrics of that song!

I adore Kate. I don't think there is another artist whose work can me feel such intense emotion. She's an actual genius.

ShirleyJackson · 10/06/2022 22:35
