Best gig/concert you've ever seen?

Went to see The Killers last night and without a doubt the best live performance I have ever seen!
The set up was amazing, Brandons vocals were amazing just everything was so good! Now i feel like i have the concert blues...... is that a thing? I'd forgotten how amazing live music is.

Anyway, now I've got back into live music again after so long with Covid I was wondering who is the best band/person you have seen live? And why?

Foo Fighters - just immense
The prodigy - such an amazing buzz
Beyoncé - because she's just THE ultimate performer
Guns N Roses - for the atmosphere
Hugh Jackman - because he had the absolute best charisma and wit.

My Chemical Romance a few weeks ago. They broke up before I became a fan so I had given up all hope of ever seeing them live. I couldn't believe it when they announced the reunion tour. The gig was amazing and felt like a dream come true!

Brbreeze · 10/06/2022 16:24

Rammstein have the best stage show in the world IMO. I've been lucky enough to see them a few times including in Berlin. Sadly can't make their rearranged tour this month - gutted.

But best gig ever though has to go the best frontman - Iggy Pop. The Stooges were amazing when I saw them but Iggy at the Royal Albert Hall was something else.

I've seen The Killers a few times now and they're fab! Elton John is probably my favourite, I first saw him about 10 years ago in my early 20's and was hooked. Loved seeing RHCP's because the atmosphere in the crowd was so electric. You can't beat live music.

indoorplantqueen · 10/06/2022 16:52

We saw the killers last week in London and they were fab but we've seen them several times before and they never disappoint. My favourite concert was actually the spice girls (I know!) in Edinburgh a few years ago during their re union tour. I think it was a mix of nostalgia and the atmosphere that helped. I loved it!

Rammstein. No fucking contest

mbosnz · 10/06/2022 17:01

Bruce Springsteen in ChCh NZ 2017. Awesome! And with the E Street band.
ACDC in Wellington, 1990 or 91, can't remember which!
21 Pilots in Auckland, 2017.
Herbs in Kaikoura, 1990. They were the business. Played for ages, then stepped down in the pub and joined everyone for numerous jars!

Arctic monkeys in 2013. Just amazing and totally knew how to engage with the crowd. And finished with R U Mine which was so good.

Oh I loved artic monkeys when I was younger! I would most definitely like to see them

They’re great aren’t they, I didn’t go to the reunion tour, but saw them many times the first time around.

Not a gig as such, but I saw the recording of Elton John and Olly performing its a sin for the Brits. His stage presence etc was amazing, he was genuinely mesmerising.

backaftera2yearbreak · 10/06/2022 18:41

Went to see queen and Adam lambert the other night. That was pretty special!

LittleMissA · 10/06/2022 18:51

We saw the killers a few weeks back and really enjoyed it.

DH and I both said it was amazing but didn't come near the Rolling Stones when we saw them at the same venue a few yrs previously. Their set was amazing, fireworks, lighting etc and such good performers!!

I got dragged along to the Australian pink floyd and even tho it's not something I really listen to it was an amazing show lots of props and special effects it was a really good gig to watch!

chimichangaz · 10/06/2022 18:51

I too saw the killers a couple of weeks ago - absolutely brilliant. Not my favourite band, hardly knew any songs but unbelievable performance and atmosphere. As pp said, makes you realise how much we've missed live music!

My favourite gigs - Take That the Circus (again, wasn't a fan but was blown away), Pink, Kaiser Chiefs, the Script.

I saw KoL a few years ago and was distinctly underwhelmed....

Gutted I won't get to see Foo Fighters but hoping to get tickets to the tribute in sept 🤞🏻

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 10/06/2022 18:58

Well, up until last week I would have said Dave Lee Roth in Birmingham in, erm, I think 1991? He was incredible, absolutely amazing. Lots of great gigs for years after that, but he was always the ‘stand out’

But then last week I saw David Gray in Liverpool and it was honestly the best gig I’ve ever been to. Loved every single second 🥰

Kam610 · 10/06/2022 19:01

Chris Stapleton! His voice gives me goosebumps. Also saw Tyler Childers in Manchester at the academy at the start of 2020. Those 2 were probably the best i've been to.

TidyDancer · 10/06/2022 19:01

Foo Fighters for me, although I can't pick a specific gig.

Just saw it this week… Queen & Adam Lambert at the o2 Arena.

Seen them 5-6 times previously but this was their best ever. Set, lighting, staging were incredible but Adam has just got better, gelled with the band more. And the current show absolutely makes the most of May and Taylor.

I’m still welling up when I think about it and I get to go again on Tuesday!!!

disclaimer that Freddie died before I was born, so I have 0 chance of ever having seen him!!! Privileged to still get to see May and Taylor and grateful that a singer as good as Adam exists to allow them to keep playing the music.

I reckon I’ve been to 200+ gigs and they are the greatest, ever.

Take That would be a close second- Progress, Circus and Odyssey all amazing but it’s more of a show than a concert.

I’m old and saw Queen back in the day - def top one for me.

I watched them over Jubilee with Adam Lambert, and I was so impressed. I think he is fab. I can’t think of anyone who would be a better replacement. Sure Freddie would approve.

legaltigger · 10/06/2022 19:16

Rammstein are amazing. Saw them in Brixton donkeys years ago.

legaltigger · 10/06/2022 19:19

Muse as well, amazing show.

Hereforthenthtime · 10/06/2022 19:20

Leonard Cohen, he really connected with the audience, I have a lasting memory of being up the front and him singing Famous Blue Raincoat

susiella · 10/06/2022 19:20

Van Morrison with (a complete surprise) Georgie Fame guesting. This was at The City Hall in Sheffield many, many years ago. Absolutely fantastic

Stevie6 · 10/06/2022 19:21

P!nk and I took my son to see MCR last month, both incredible in very different ways

Montgomerymmoose · 10/06/2022 19:30

Pixies
Queens of the Stone Age
Radiohead
Mudhoney
Polyphonic Spree
Mastodon
Butthole Surfers
Pogues

123Shush · 10/06/2022 19:50

Queen at Knebworth in 1986 (Status Quo; Big Country and Belouis Some supporting). I wasn’t that fussed about going, but figured Big Country would be good. Turns out I was absolutely blown away by Freddie, I still get tingles looking back on it, he was amazing.

another standout for me was Kid Creole & the Coconuts in the Liverpool in the ‘80’s. My little sis loved them so I took her to see them. They were great and she had a brilliant time singing along and dancing at her first gig, which made it special.

123Shush · 10/06/2022 19:52

*”in Liverpool” - not sure where the “the” came from…

think I saw The The in Liverpool too as it happens 😁
