Best gig/concert you've ever seen?

Went to see The Killers last night and without a doubt the best live performance I have ever seen!
The set up was amazing, Brandons vocals were amazing just everything was so good! Now i feel like i have the concert blues...... is that a thing? I'd forgotten how amazing live music is.

Anyway, now I've got back into live music again after so long with Covid I was wondering who is the best band/person you have seen live? And why?

Michael Jackson - you don't seriously expect a reason why, surely?! His legend speaks for itself! I went to two concerts, but the highlight has to be the one in New York City when he reunited with his brothers for the first time since 1984.

All six Jackson brothers on stage performing classics like Can You Feel It, Dancing Machine and Shake Your Body!

Electrifying night with an incredible entrance to "Fanfare Of The Common man"!

Arctic monkeys in 2013. Just amazing and totally knew how to engage with the crowd. And finished with R U Mine which was so good.

SuperSange · 10/06/2022 14:54

We saw The Killers last week. Stunning performance.

Pedallleur · 10/06/2022 14:57

Springsteen 1981. returned to Europe and not yet the global star. lean, hungry, early 30s with his E St band and a setlist to die for. All the stories were true. The 3 hour show, songs changed every night, the sheer energy. He opened in London with Born to Run. How many acts could open with a song like that.

Billy Elish this week

Yes she’s very good.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 10/06/2022 15:02

Came on to say the killers. Few years ago in Swansea. Amazing

Aseagullatemybaby · 10/06/2022 15:03

Top 3;

Motley Crue

Alice Cooper

Paolo Nutini

All amazing in different ways

Imabouttoexplode · 10/06/2022 15:05

Prodigy.

LadyHelenaJustina · 10/06/2022 15:08

Robbie Williams at Milton Keynes, with Basement Jaxx as support.

Echobelly · 10/06/2022 15:19

Underworld at the Reading Festival 1995 were incredible - I'm not sure even quite why, but they were fantastic.

Just saw Amyl & the Sniffers live - first gig since COVID - and they go into my top live performers list as well.

Welshmaenad · 10/06/2022 15:28

Lissie doing a piano/acoustic set, or Molotov Jukebox - their on stage energy is insane.

turkeyboots · 10/06/2022 15:31

Tool in Brixton Academy in 2002 or 03. Amazing. And Brixton Academy generally, never saw a bad gig there.

TanteRose · 10/06/2022 15:35

Kate Bush - Before the Dawn
completely out of this world ❤

Just saw it this week… Queen & Adam Lambert at the o2 Arena.

Seen them 5-6 times previously but this was their best ever. Set, lighting, staging were incredible but Adam has just got better, gelled with the band more. And the current show absolutely makes the most of May and Taylor.

I’m still welling up when I think about it and I get to go again on Tuesday!!!

disclaimer that Freddie died before I was born, so I have 0 chance of ever having seen him!!! Privileged to still get to see May and Taylor and grateful that a singer as good as Adam exists to allow them to keep playing the music.

I reckon I’ve been to 200+ gigs and they are the greatest, ever.

Take That would be a close second- Progress, Circus and Odyssey all amazing but it’s more of a show than a concert.

CloudPop · 10/06/2022 15:45

The Killers are absolutely fantastic live, totally agree !

Pieceofpurplesky · 10/06/2022 15:46

Lenny Kravitz is amazing live. Best was in Manchester (think it was the Academy).

Counting Crows Acoustic set at MEN. They just decided to change it up and it was incredible

Depeche Mode, Crystal Palace about 1993. Just amazing. Dave Gahan is the most amazing front man and never fails to impress.

Billy Elish this week

We saw Billie Eilish this week too! She was incredible - huge respect for her, such talent and so young.

The Foo Fighters, The Killers were amazing. Although I'm talking Leeds festival about 17 years ago!

User6761 · 10/06/2022 15:49

Pulp, headliners on the last day at T in the Park in 1998. It had been a miserable, wet day. We were soaked through. And yet from the moment Pulp came on stage I completely forgot I was in a muddy field wearing wet clothes! Jarvis captivated the audience.

One of my biggest disappointments was at that same festival - Spiritualised. Loved their album but so boring live.

LetitiaLeghorn · 10/06/2022 15:50

Take That. Progress. Howard smiled at me. ☺

RaraRachael · 10/06/2022 15:54

Saw the Killers a few years ago and they were amazing although I realised then that I'm getting too old for standing only gigs! I didn't get tickets for them this time as I prefer indoor gigs.

Muse were epic at Manchester. It's so nice to hear bands that sound exactly the same live as on record. Makes you realise the autotuned shite that passes for music with a lot of people these days.

Metalandtea · 10/06/2022 15:58

Devin Townsend at the Albert Hall - absolutely incredible and he’s so nice!
Megadeth
Opeth
Insomnium
Trivium
Alestorm - pure fun! Although very rude!

I think on technical brilliance alone a lot of metal bands are overlooked- and certainly they knock the socks off many mainstream bands live. But I’m biased! 😁

Hullabaloo31 · 10/06/2022 15:58

We saw The Killers in London at the weekend, was an absolutely amazing show! I've seen them a few times over the last 10 years but this tour completely blew the others out of the water.

Feel exactly the same as you @Mintchocchip1 – going to live music always makes me want to go to more live music!

I saw The Killers last week, and agree with you. They wouldn't rate as one of my favourite bands but the charisma and stage presence Brandon Flowers brings is incredible, stadium rock at its finest.

I saw Floyd do The Wall for the first time way back when, and even at the time you knew you were watching something historic, iconic.

Billy Joel at Wembley a couple of years ago was pretty awesome.

But it's hard to top Springsteen's 3-hour epics. I was in Hyde Park when they turned him and Paul MCartney off (really?) and have seen a few times. Consummate live performer.
