I'll start. Simply because it's Sunday and I'm bored...

Group holidays - you couldn't drag me on one of these!! Hell

Festivals - the crowds, the hay fever, the sweat, overpriced everything, the constant queue for a rancid pop up toilet

Valentines Day - tacky, commercialised crap

Work Christmas Dos - I don't even bother going anymore. Too old to pretend I'm social

This is a great thread! I'll add to the vote for weddings, hen parties and baby showers. I have a particular loathing for fancy dress parties / enforced themed parties with having to wear or buy certain clothing for said party...no thanks! All the Christmas hype a day after Halloween is another thing I can't stand!

KohlaParasaurus · 06/06/2022 02:13

Afternoon tea. Too much food at once including stuff I wouldn't have chosen, overpriced, and at a time of day that's too late for lunch and too early for dinner.

Barbecues.

Motherrunner1 · 06/06/2022 03:35

Another day 🤣

NotaFR · 06/06/2022 06:02

NYE
getting my hair done….I just want it done quickly
Work celebrations
Hen do

Networking events absolutely awful

Nannewnannew · 06/06/2022 07:33

Carvery restaurants, absolutely hate queuing for second rate food that has been churned up by other diners.

Ew same. I like a nice roast dinner but carverys turn my stomach

Hot sunny days, I overheat, burn and I'm just miserable.

Holidays in hot sunny places, I've been to Australia x 3 and South America but I escaped our summer for their winter.

Jubilees - agree with we might not have one for the rest of my life. Even Brenda missed some of it.

Shopping.

Reality TV.

As for Christmas, I don't celebrate it, and every year I'm glad.

DuesToTheDirt · 06/06/2022 19:52

Beach holidays.

Hot, boring, sticky with suntan lotion, and sandy. A couple of hours on a beach is ok, but that's it. And I always miss a bit with the suntan lotion and get burnt.

MarmiteOnToast · 06/06/2022 20:09

Birthdays i hate mine. I don't like a fuss. It wouldn't bother me if i didnt get a card a greeting or anything. But i love spoiling others on theirs!?

Spa days

Love Island

allalisha · 08/06/2022 11:12

Ah I love this thread!!! You are my people 😂😂😂

Frankfurterwuerstchen · 08/06/2022 11:46

Football. Anything to do with football. Especially "big events" that everyone else seems to get excited about.
DH always wants to watch it with lots of other people. I would rather stick pins in my eyes.
I have turned down invitations to World Cup parties in the past. Why would I want to go? I am not interested in any of it. No, I don't want to go just to be sociable. I can stay at home and do something I actually want to do.

Words · 08/06/2022 12:56

Oh goodness yes, football. Any sport really in fact- with the possible exception of cricket.

user1471538283 · 08/06/2022 13:01

Weddings, christenings, big family parties.

Anything with an organised fun aspect to it like work Christmas parties or awaydays/networking.

Ruthietuthie · 08/06/2022 14:23

Board games.
Wine.
Theatre.

sassafras123 · 08/06/2022 15:53

Holidays.
Gin
Football
Parties or for that matter any social affairs where you have to make small talk with others you have nothing much in common with.
Spa days
Jacuzzis
Other people's children
Grazing Platters and Carveries
Travel
Baby showers

ILIWYS · 08/06/2022 16:49

I see that several hundred posters also despise getting their hair cut and any form of "pampering" as much as me. Glad to see I'm not alone!

GetThatHelmetOn · 08/06/2022 16:58

Oh yes… Gin, what is all that fuss about?

Quweenie · 09/06/2022 02:09

I can’t stand SUMMER!

I’m so glad to have found others that agree! 😆

Now don’t get me wrong, I love a holiday abroad somewhere warm, but that is COMPLETELY different. A UK summer is awful.
I don’t have aircon, I don’t have a pool, we don’t have the nice beaches, I can’t laze around in the sun because life must carry on etc.

UK Summer = Bites, hot sleepless nights, screaming kids, it’s too hot to cook, flies, sweating, squinting, frizzy hair, men with their guts out, not being able to exercise or walk the dog because of the heat, everyone is everywhere, the ‘aren’t you warm in that?’, the forced fun and the guilt if you don’t want to ‘get outside in it’.

Some people look at you like you’ve just confessed murder if you admit you don’t like summer though. 😬

Littlemissdan · 09/06/2022 07:57

Anything that includes organised fun. Planned activities, enforced enjoyment - I just hate it and it automatically makes me not even WANT to have fun.
Yy to group holidays too.
I previously despised work events but I work with a really good team at the minute so work functions actually are fun (helps that they’re fully expensed and we can do/eat/drink whatever we want!).
Going to a family members house for dinner, knowing they’ll slap out their newest team-work board game which is “so fun”. It’s not fun, let me go home.

wilddreams · 09/06/2022 10:38

'Lazy Sundays' I get restless and bored

Binge watching Netflix box sets - again, restless and bored

Love Island - just don't get what's so amazing. It all feels completely fake to me

Music festivals- I cannot see the appeal in camping in a field surrounded by people who just want to drink and act like idiots. All my friends talked about how great the atmosphere is and but the few times I went I felt claustrophobic and just wanted time to myself

MissCrowley · 02/07/2022 07:34

Getting dressed up to go for a meal.. I hate it. But I do it and I tend to enjoy myself. It's more the whole "let's look nice" I like to be comfy when I eat.

Phoebesgift · 09/07/2022 19:24

Any family get togethers.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 09/07/2022 19:59

Spa days
Any sort of such ‘pampering’ - I even hate that word!

NYE
Most parties TBH, except perhaps Gdcs’ birthday ones.
Hot weather - above about 21 deg - unless I’ve got sea or pool to fall into, in which case I like it.

Luggagerack · 09/07/2022 20:24

Playing board games.

Wimbledon.

Having a glass of wine.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 09/07/2022 21:03

The later evening bit of weddings, where absolutely deafening music seems to be compulsory, and there’s no separate space to escape to. A SiL and I once had to go and stand out in the drizzle in order to be able to have any sort of conversation.
