I'll start. Simply because it's Sunday and I'm bored...

Group holidays - you couldn't drag me on one of these!! Hell

Festivals - the crowds, the hay fever, the sweat, overpriced everything, the constant queue for a rancid pop up toilet

Valentines Day - tacky, commercialised crap

Work Christmas Dos - I don't even bother going anymore. Too old to pretend I'm social

OP posts:

Theme parks
Queuing for hours to be thrown around by a machine? No thank you

Lemon221 · 05/06/2022 22:05

Baby showers

LisaSimpson77 · 05/06/2022 22:06

Big nights out
Hen parties
Clubs
Basically anything that revolves around drinking until you puke.

goingpearshaped · 05/06/2022 22:09

So glad to hear it's not just me. Op, we are very similar!

goingpearshaped · 05/06/2022 22:10

In fact, forced fun of any kind!

cutbacktoohard · 05/06/2022 22:12

This thread has made me realise I've got really good boundaries now.

Friends birthdays where it's drinks/dinner/band or show. Just drinks or dinner now.

Musicals. Learnt long ago to say no.

Spa sessions. Bores the arse off me and I never feel relaxed.

A stroll around a local market town. My ex always wanted to do this.

Coffee/tea and cake in a cafe. Glass of wine instead

Browsing in TK max. Kill me now

So many good ones on here. I share:

  • Reality TV, especially Love Island
  • Vacuous celebrities I.e. people who are famous just for being famous (reality TV stars)
  • Musicals
  • Loud music pubs

And I'll add

  • Football fans. Don't mind the footy, but I hate fan mentality and the stupid tribalism that goes with it.
  • And Stroud. Do not get the MN love for the place on here. Go there fairly frequently and it's really, really run down. Really it's just a smaller, hillier, hippier Swindon.
marmitecake · 05/06/2022 22:20

Strictly.

UK summer heatwaves. I especially get the rage when weather forecasters describe it as 'glorious'.

Going to a pub. Dull as shit and very expensive. Two small glasses of wine £15 near me.

Christmas Day. Hate the day itself, so stressful, much prefer Christmas Eve and boxing day. I would also be happy to take the tree down next day and be done with the whole thing (bah humbug).

Seeleyboo · 05/06/2022 22:22

Pretty much anything that involves leaving my house, having people in my house and physically speaking to people on the phone.
NYE
Bonfire night
Halloween
Neighbours that catch me in my garden and want to chat

Seeleyboo · 05/06/2022 22:24

Musicals
Opera
Any forced occasion....Valentine, mothers day etc
Big family meals out. All take forever to order and someone always complains

HeyDelRey · 05/06/2022 22:30

Musicals - I'd rather tear my ears off

Theme parks - paying over the odds to be trapped in a wasp-infested hell hole for the day

Commitment ceremonies - I came to your wedding. What's new to see?

Enjoyallthewine · 05/06/2022 22:39

Ten Pin Bowling, Ice Skating, Winter- hardly any daylight, cold and ice. Baby Showers. Spa days. Hot tubs. Very hot weather.

Lsquiggles · 05/06/2022 22:41

Holiday entertainment! It's never good and is so cringe worthy 😬

Cottagepieandpeas · 05/06/2022 22:45

CapYourDoff · 05/06/2022 16:30

Rocket leaves, they get stuck in my throat, ugh.

Yes! Same. Urgh. Dry and choke me. The only way I can eat them is if they are chopped up minutely.

nex18 · 05/06/2022 22:45

Snow, I mean it does look pretty as it falls but it’s cold, wet, slippery and turns into brown sludge that hangs around for ages. (I can’t agree with the summer hatred).
”Days” as in Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, my birthday. Just a disappointment waiting to happen. I do like Christmas Day though, my teenagers and I have had quiet, laidback Christmas’s for the last few years which have been lovely.
Shopping, I’m too old, fat and poor to enjoy mooching around the shops.

valerianaofficiana · 05/06/2022 23:24

Weddings - regardless of the grandness of the venue and piles of money thrown at the party, they are the most tedious and dull occasions, only meaningful to the couple and their families.

MiniJellyBeans · 05/06/2022 23:28

Most of the above, but also....taking part in a raffle at an event....I sit there hoping my ticket number won't be called out so I don't have to pretend to be excited about scuttling up to the front (with everyone watching me) to choose between a naff toiletry gift set and a box of Quality St.
Also....casinos at posh evening events - don't understand how it all works and not interested in learning!

Lndnmummy · 05/06/2022 23:37

Comedy shows 😴
Work dos like christmas parties 😴
Spas
Yoga
Baby groups
Going to see my mum (love seeing my dad though)
kids swimming lessons

ThomasinaGallico · 05/06/2022 23:37

Book clubs. I read books for myself, not to listen to other people’s half baked opinions on them, or to hold forth about my own half-baked opinions. I want to read what I fancy, not what someone else thinks is the book of the moment. (Admittedly three years of an English degree may have jaded me somewhat).

Screen games. I cannot get into them.

Never keen on nightclubs or 18-30 type holidays back in the day.

Sporty activities; not built for them.

Parties and social occasions where I don’t know a soul.

And although I’m not in need of it, online dating sounds like a form of extended psychological torture.

quietnightmare · 05/06/2022 23:46

Drama class, some people just don't want to do it

Public speaking, this is hell

Buffets, too many people touching the food

Saunas, how tubs, Gross

DuesToTheDirt · 05/06/2022 23:55

Pubs. I never liked them that much (especially back when you could smoke indoors) and now I find them even more boring. I'm not a big drinker and while I'll have a couple of drinks, sitting - or, worse, standing - in a pub for hours while people sip pint after pint is thoroughly dull.

Even worse if there is loud music and you have to shout at your friends to have a conversation.

DuesToTheDirt · 06/06/2022 00:02

Afonavon · 05/06/2022 19:42

Big concerts in stadiums. Why the f would I want to watch a screen as the performer is all but a dot in the distance? I love small venues, but even then I dread the thought of going out (ASD brain again hating transitions).

Yes, I saw U2 in a big stadium years ago and that was the last ever big stadium gig I went to. Made worse by having seats half way back, but my friend spotted another friend (who I couldn't care less about) further back, and persuaded me that we should join him at the back. I went to see U2, not to see a friend of a friend 15 miles from Bono!

pinkspottyladybird · 06/06/2022 00:15

Girls nights out, Eugh you'd have to drag me.
Tbh any big social thing, I'm a complete introvert and very comfortable in my own company which I've found a lot of people find very odd.

SkiingIsHeaven · 06/06/2022 00:25

Clothes shopping. Hate it.
