I'll start. Simply because it's Sunday and I'm bored...

Group holidays - you couldn't drag me on one of these!! Hell

Festivals - the crowds, the hay fever, the sweat, overpriced everything, the constant queue for a rancid pop up toilet

Valentines Day - tacky, commercialised crap

Work Christmas Dos - I don't even bother going anymore. Too old to pretend I'm social

All you can eat buffets - lukewarm crap food, basically. The first and last time I endured one was for a friend’s birthday many years ago and I spent about £20 for the privilege of being able to eat as much lukewarm curry with cuts of grisly meat in it, soggy chips and claggy rice as I liked. Truly disgusting.

All inclusive holidays - last went on one about a decade ago and mealtimes were like being in a busy school canteen, people shoving their way to the counters and piling loads of food onto their plates just because it’s ‘free’. Never again!

Christmas markets - I love Christmas, but Christmas markets are awful. Overcrowded, overpriced tat. I remember my FIL spending £30 or so on a cake from a stall at the market and seeing the exact same cake in the exact same wrapping a week or so later in Aldi for about £3.50 - he was livid and we still talk about it now 😂

The later evening bit of weddings, where absolutely deafening music seems to be compulsory, and there’s no separate space to escape to. A SiL and I once had to go and stand out in the drizzle in order to be able to have any sort of conversation.

We didn’t have one of those at our wedding. Both DH and I hated anything to do with dancing and discos and loud music. We held an ‘open house’ party at PILs house where people could come and go as they pleased. There was one group who did go to a local nightclub but we chose not to as we were just too tired.

It was a hot July day like today, 23 years ago now…happy memories.

Parent’s evening
New Year’s Eve

To be fair I don’t think anyone looks forward to Parents Evenings!

squashyhat · 11/07/2022 19:42

Barbecues/picnics. I both host and attend them but much prefer a proper meal at a proper table without added wasps.

PuckeredArseFace · 11/07/2022 21:07

Wimbledon

VioletLemon · 05/12/2022 22:45

Big groups, nights out, company on holiday, company at home, unexpected visitors, phonecalls, small talk, staffroom, buffet food, shared table in restaurant....

DishwasherMoran · 05/12/2022 22:53

Summer
Any kind of social gathering whatsoever
"Going for a coffee"
Going to the hairdresser
Someone 'popping round for a chat'
Catching up with friends
Going out for lunch - dinner is fine, but going for lunch just kills the whole day

I've actually got really good social skills and no one knows this in real life. Apart from summer - I'm continually moaning about that hot fucker Grin

ALongHardWinter · 06/12/2022 00:13

Summer.

New year's eve. Even when I was young it was always shit.

Oh yes me too, I've been to a few things over the years and always end up thinking "is it midnight yet?"
This year ds is at his dads and I haven't been invited anywhere and that all suits me just fine!!

Crikeyalmighty · 07/12/2022 13:09

Takeaways
New Year's Eve
Festivals
Camping -

Sartre · 07/12/2022 13:22

New Year’s Eve is crap. I have been out partying a few times and it’s just cold, overcrowded with huge queues for the toilet and drinks… Really not that enjoyable. Now I’m older with young DC there’s less pressure which is great but it’s just a bit boring now.

I don’t enjoy getting my hair cut or nails done and appreciate it if the person doing it is just silent and leaves me alone.

Always hated weddings, christenings, any sort of family event.

amusedbush · 07/12/2022 14:39

To quote Limmy: "anything that involves people - count me out. Count me fucking out. If you want to become mentally ill, do something with other humans".

Oh yes.

Also, NYE. Hate this day, and hate January even more. Fuck you, new years resolutions.

Mentalpiece · 07/12/2022 16:03

Shopping for anything.
Spa days.
Markets and fête type things.
Going for a walk. ( I always refuse )
At the moment, my dogs for snaffling my sausage roll.

Mentalpiece · 07/12/2022 16:04

I was looking forward to the sausage rolls for tea, so it counts I suppose.

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 07/12/2022 16:05

Going out for meals just don’t enjoy it.

butterfliedtwo · 07/12/2022 16:11

Anything Halloween. New Year's.

Chickenvoicesinmyhead · 07/12/2022 16:21

Hen do's
The beach (give me a lovely sand-free pool)
Home sales parties e.g Body Shop, Ann Summers
Any indoor clubs/parties with dancing. Festivals absolutely ok
Cruises
NYE
Pantomimes
Could quite happily do without Christmas/Easter and associated family dynamics
Theme parks
Funfairs
Amusement arcades
Baby showers
Like a pp, any enforced "fun"

With you on most of these, although I do/did like clubs and dancing.
On beaches, just get thee to Croatia; there's hardly any sandy ones, nearly all rocks or pebbles. Beautiful clear water and no grittiness!
