I'll start. Simply because it's Sunday and I'm bored...

Group holidays - you couldn't drag me on one of these!! Hell

Festivals - the crowds, the hay fever, the sweat, overpriced everything, the constant queue for a rancid pop up toilet

Valentines Day - tacky, commercialised crap

Work Christmas Dos - I don't even bother going anymore. Too old to pretend I'm social

OP posts:
giraffesaregreat · 05/06/2022 18:17

Definitely hot weather - just hate it
Weddings & basically anything that means people ask 'What are you going to wear?' as I hate thinking about clothes.

whatsnewpussycat34 · 05/06/2022 18:18

Anything social - I like about 3 people in the world, max

Holidays - agoraphobia

Sun - ginger

Bottomless brunch - boring

Pants - leg prisons

Ormally · 05/06/2022 18:21

Agree with synthetically flavoured coffee etc.
Posh donuts (if I want one, which will be very rare, it will be a completely unremarkable one, plain, bit of cinnamon, hole in the middle).
Raw red onion additions to salads, or most things, really.
The great majority of the supposedly artisan lemon curd varieties on the shelves.
Coffee machines in holiday accommodation, which require coordination of a plug, switch, water reservoir etc, with no guarantee they work.

Norugratsatall · 05/06/2022 18:23

Weddings
Street parties
Spa days
Holidays abroad (don't mind UK)
Group events/meals etc where lots of people attending, possible you won't know half of them and where small talk is expected.
Having my nails or hair done - urgh!

I'm sure there's more...

close friend's son (I have known him since his birth) is getting married next year. His Mum was saying how I must go as I need to sort a dog sitter for my elderly dog....and I will go and I will enjoy it.
his mum, who has fabulous style was saying she was already hunting for her mother of the groom outfit. I told her that I would hunt for one for "elderly very eccentric longtime friend of the family" She knows I will do it too!

bakermummy21 · 05/06/2022 18:25

ceilidh's. Can't bear all the forced dancing and looking like a spare part if you don't join in!

I've never been to one but it sounds like hell.

Christmas. I loathe Christmas.

Ditto.

And all the twinkly cosy, snuggly crap.

catfunk · 05/06/2022 18:37

Hen weekends

ShowOfHands · 05/06/2022 18:44

Nobody likes NYE. Every other thread on MN between Christmas and NY is somebody complaining about NYE and hundreds of people agreeing. You should try having a birthday on Dec 31st and being told for 40yrs that it's the worst day of the year.

OP, I go to festivals regularly and my favourite two have proper toilets and showers with hot, running water, aren't crowded and things aren't particularly overpriced. I've been to festivals like you describe yes but they're not all like that.

APJ1 · 05/06/2022 18:51

Thunderstorms.

DameHelena · 05/06/2022 18:54

Barbecues. Always rainy and/or cold. Never enough food, and you’ve waited hours for it. People get rat-arsed. You go home honking of fatty smoke.

Christmas. I don’t like cranberry sauce or parsnips, or mince pies. Family who have nothing in common, crammed together in someone’s small or smelly or flashy house.

Game of Thrones. It’s got dragons in it Hmm Are you five?

I’m a riot in other circumstances, honestly Grin

MrsDThomas · 05/06/2022 18:55

Welsh rugby matches.

but football on the other hand.

im proud

esp now!⚽️

Afonavon · 05/06/2022 19:42

Big concerts in stadiums. Why the f would I want to watch a screen as the performer is all but a dot in the distance? I love small venues, but even then I dread the thought of going out (ASD brain again hating transitions).

Couldn't agree more. Find it a waste of money.

penpalgal · 05/06/2022 20:08

Hen parties
Festivals
Weddings
Work dos
Going to the hairdressers

Newestname002 · 05/06/2022 20:15

Work team building events. Hate them with a passion especially if it involves getting hot/sweaty/dirty sporty exercises and particularly if I'm expected to tell them anything about my personal life. 🌹

Newestname002 · 05/06/2022 20:20

Organised fun of any description. makes me want to go in the opposite direction. 🌹

Newestname002 · 05/06/2022 20:28

Weddings with big gaps between the ceremony and the wedding "breakfast"/reception and especially if there's a different venue to get to for the second part but no transport is laid on between locations... 🌹

penpalgal · 05/06/2022 20:35

Surprised no-one's mentioned fancy dress yet. Just too much effort for too little reward.

Nidan2Sandan · 05/06/2022 20:43

Weddings, always end up costing me a fortune.

BBQs, DH loves them though.

Going for a walk

converseandjeans · 05/06/2022 20:46

Christmas - it's like groundhog day and everything starts way too early so come end of December I'm done with it all. The shops are always full of festive stuff from probably start of November - so that's 2 months of it!
NYE - too much expectation and things like drinks/taxis cost a fortune
Hair cuts - I just want a quick cut and no fuss
Weddings - expensive and lots of hanging around and making small talk with people you hardly know
Work team building - seems everyone hates these

Crikeyalmighty · 05/06/2022 20:57

Christmas Day- although I do like the run up to it - I feel 'trapped in' and chief cook and bottle washer

Barbecues - don't like barbecued food

Showers unless weather is really hot- much prefer a bath as I like reading in the bath

Cocktails- I like the odd G&T and Aperol spritz on holiday but otherwise much prefer good wine

Controversially I will say sex- I've never been that bothered if I'm honest and post menopause am even less bothered

Enforced fun- be it hen nights, karaoke, team days - I am actually a really sociable person, just don't like the idea it's all about getting pissed or joining in stuff that's not really me

FullBush · 05/06/2022 20:57

Camping. Why? I love the outdoors, walking, hiking even, but why do I want to sleep on the floor, surrounded by noisy twats and bugs.

West end shows / musicals. Utter tedium and dross. Bored shitless within 3 minutes.

Doing shots. Never liked it, even when I was an 18-20yo and getting shit faced regularly. No one actually likes tequila, Sambuca or Jägermeister. Fuck off.

Coffee - acid indigestion inducing bitter grimness that gives everyone horrific breath a without exclusion!

Gin and tonic - more sour and bitter vileness trendied up for the masses. Here’s a stupid bucket sized goblet with some wanky words emblazoned in gold script and 40 pieces of fruit with a litre of tonic.. 🤮 NO!

Grey everything. No.

The Chase - tedium personified.

MissCrowley · 05/06/2022 21:02

Gosh erm... there's so many!

"Meals" hate the whole "let's go out for a nice meal and wear nice clothes" honestly I'd rather smash my face into a Maccies

Weddings and hen parties- for all reasons mentioned above- plus cost. I'm engaged but we'll never get married, already decided between us that we cannot and absolutely cannot be arsed with the whole pantomime of it.

Girls night out... it's never like what it was when I was in my 20s. We sit around and talk about boring shit like what's in the slow cooker this week.

In my 20s I was dancing around on top of bars in my local town and had the absolute time of my life.

Being invited anywhere. I never really want to go, I always say "yea let's do that" and then come up with a load of excuses why I can't. I'm a crap friend.

Things I do like: going for coffee/ afternoon tea in a little tearoom.
Being alone.
Both of the above of a books included.. that's the best day ever!

I don't have many friends anymore because I can't really be arsed and I'm too introverted now for constant invites
