I'll start. Simply because it's Sunday and I'm bored...

Group holidays - you couldn't drag me on one of these!! Hell

Festivals - the crowds, the hay fever, the sweat, overpriced everything, the constant queue for a rancid pop up toilet

Valentines Day - tacky, commercialised crap

Work Christmas Dos - I don't even bother going anymore. Too old to pretend I'm social

Royal fucking Jubilees. Hopefully this is the last one I will have to put up with.

Vive la République.

grapewines · 05/06/2022 16:30

NYE. I absolutely hate it.
The forced 'joy' of extended family gatherings.

MiniTheMinx · 05/06/2022 16:33

Going to the beach. I hate sand and pebbles.

Hairdresser, spa, nail bar and any other sort of pampering thing.

BBQs, no thanks.

Christmas, holidays, weddings, group holidays, party......it depends who else is going.

chunkymandarincoulis · 05/06/2022 16:34

Anything that involves socialising and random chit-chat with people I either don't know or don't like. I find it absolutely grim and can't wait to get away.

DogsAndGin · 05/06/2022 16:37

TheQuern · 05/06/2022 16:37

After yesterday, I’ve realised I don’t like certain types of concerts. Got invited to the party at the palace. I feel like a horrible person because I didn’t enjoy it much. No-one in real life will ever know. Not even a half of Pimms and a glass of wine could loosen me up 😥

All of those! Sunday for me because I have Sunday blues. But the rest are the same sentiments.

godmum56 · 05/06/2022 16:42

work do's yes when I worked, just never went. Dh's work do's at his level were kind of compulsory...he just said no anyway.
new year
televised football...in fact televised sport of any kind.
spa days/massages, never have done one never will do
anything you have to dress up for.
anything where you have to make small talk

dodobookends · 05/06/2022 16:42

Alcohol-fuelled desserts, especially when there's alcohol in 8 out of the 10 things on the menu and the other two choices are the cheeseboard or spotted dick and custard.

loadofcrap10 · 05/06/2022 16:45

Spa days, hen particularly ones abroad in places like Benidorm, afternoon tea, hairdresser head massages, live music in pubs/bars, standing on a night out, prosecco, household wall art, ie those bloody annoying live, laugh, love type quotes.

Bluegirl222 · 05/06/2022 16:49

Weddings
Hen nights
Girls nights
Invitations to events in general!

harriethoyle · 05/06/2022 16:53

New Year's Eve I used to love when in walking distance of town so able to come and go under my own steam... now we're reliant on taxis, I really don't like it. Add to that it's my late mother's birthday and her death is quite recent and last year's effort to do a family thing in house was a DISASTER. I'm already resolved to tell DH we are doing fuck bloody all this year for it apart from delicious food and wine just the two of us at home. If that makes me a grumpy bastard, I don't care!!

MarmiteyCrumpets · 05/06/2022 16:57

Summer
Christmas
New Years
Team building events

Just give me a boring miserable rainy day and I'm happy.

BlackTourmaline · 05/06/2022 17:01

Just about everything that’s written here 😂

CapYourDoff · 05/06/2022 17:01

I'm allergic to any event where I cannot escape without being seen and it's awkward to do so. I mean events where you don't know everyone and must engage in shite small talk. Trapped and exhausing!

I do not like eating/drinking/having coffee indoors in a dark cave like place (no matter how chic it is), if the sun is shining outside and the terrace has tables. I now refuse to go out unless it's a nice day and an outside table is available and is ok with everyone. I have all Winter to be a troglodyte!

I do not go to weddings anymore unless it's immediate family. I just decline graciously, wish them well and give a decent present anyway. We think the B+G care, well they don't mind as long as you give adequate notice, then they can go down their list and ask someone else, win win!

MarmiteyCrumpets · 05/06/2022 17:04

Also barbeques, birthdays, weddings, team sports and cream teas.

SnowWhitesSM · 05/06/2022 17:09

I like most of these things, apart from hen do's and late nights out. Oh and over priced markets.

What do you like seasonally? Or to do? I don't like sitting in my house on my own all day every day. I feel really unproductive if I haven't been out for a while and get down if I don't see my friends regularly enough.

Simonjt · 05/06/2022 17:09

Kids going back to school, most parents take joy in waving them off after school holidays etc, I’m the opposite and I hate it when its time for him to go back to school (despite him being irritating and a pain in the arse).

justasking111 · 05/06/2022 17:12

Music concerts noise, toilets, grim.

NYE unless it's a quiet meal with friends, family

dizzydizzydizzy · 05/06/2022 17:14

Birthdays and Christmas (both too anxiety making. Feel like everyone is relying on me).

Work parties. I like working with my colleagues but it doesn't mean I want to watch them get drunk and end up with ringing ears, while eating a mediocre meal.

I like spa days though.

Rosewaterblossom · 05/06/2022 17:15

Food festivals. I love food and the idea sounds good, but they're always full of overpriced olives/cheese/oil and expensive drinks and so packed you can't move or really look at anything. Then you get to pay £6 for a plate of some mediocre paella or the like 😐

cushioncovers · 05/06/2022 17:16

Pretty much everything that's already been said on here. Apart from the beach. I do like a walk along the beach.

Imissmoominmama · 05/06/2022 17:19

Enforced jollity in any form.

If I feel spontaneously jolly, that’s quite different.

Shopping.

Phone calls.

BeautifulDragon · 05/06/2022 17:23

There's something so satisfyingly miserable about this thread Grin

-Girls/ parents nights out
-Hen dos
-Work parties
-Extended family parties/ BBQs
-Christmas (I used to love it, but it's been ruined by ridiculous family dynamics) very glad to be going on holiday this year and swerving the entire debacle!

emmathedilemma · 05/06/2022 17:24

Spa days
