Thank you.

Europa Park is AMAZING. I've been to all the Florida parks and a few other international theme parks plus most of the UK ones and I think Europa is the best. The hotels are also incredible.

@coastergirl is that the on site hotels which are good? I am planning some interrailing next year and fancy a visit to a theme park! Not heard of Europa before but it looks awesome!

coastergirl · 02/07/2022 17:03

@Leftbutcameback yes. They are all themed. There's one themed as a Portuguese monastery, one as the Colloseum, and old American one etc. They are all incredible. The upkeep and service is amazing. The whole place is just magical. Fountains at night, amazing bars and restaurants. There's even a hidden bar on a high floor of one of the hotels called Bar Buena Vista. There's a balcony with the most unbelievable views across the park at night. Oh I could go on about it forever. I need to go back!

That sounds fabulous @coastergirl - it's on my list! Now I just need to find it on my massive rail map of Europe

@Leftbutcameback your plans sound amazing! I wish I could do it.

@coastergirl
I would agree re Europa park. It was fabulous. Massive place. Very well turned. I think a lot of the work was done by some of the Imagineers who worked with Disney, and you can see some ( glaringly obvious) similarities. For example, "Pirates of Batvia", "Spinning teacups" et etc.
You need to check out "Voletarium" which is exactly the same ( made by same company) as "Soarin'" at Epcot.

The main difference with Europa park is the lack of massive queues. It is busy enough to have a nice atmosphere about it, but you can literally keep going on all the rides over and over without the long queues or the need for fast passes. We went high season July 2019 as well!
I thought it was great value for money, the food and drink venues were fantastic. Honestly couldn't fault the place

Yes we loved Europa Park - so well run and not busy. Just a fantastic experience.
We spent a few nights in The Black Forest too on our way to Austria. Really preferred the Germany part of our trip - the weather was better and the people were so friendly.

Also Berlin is in my top 3 cities.

Just a note - very difficult for vegetarians or people who don't eat pork. Yes there are vegetarian restaurants but we eat meat, dd doesn't and many normal (meat) restaurants do not have a vegetarian option, even the fried potatoes and macaroni were cooked in/with pork fat. She lived on baked potatoes and veggie burgers (which often had freezer burn)

The number of vegan places in Berlin is incredible. It’s almost harder to find places serving dairy and meat!

That is true of Berlin - but out in the countryside in most affordable restaurants it is still often pork, pork, pork or pork with a pasta dish as an alternative - and that will often have bits of bacon added as well.
