Royal kids not wearing hats or sunglasses

So on the carriage trip, Katherine and Camilla wearing big hats and the 3 kids squinting uncomfortably in the sun. No sunglasses allowed or hats. Seems cruel to me. Along with the expectation that they have to shake hand with strangers when the rest of the country are teaching their kids they don’t have to hug family goodbye if they don’t want to to teach bodily independence. Used to be pro royalty, definitely not these days.

Get a life.

^^ this

Yeah sunglasses really are not expected in the playground at all, for numerous reasons.
1 being its actually bloody harder to see in them and are more of a danger when running around/playing football.
2 They are mainly plastic tat that offer zero protection from the sun...
3 they are not and have never been compulsory in any school...
Neither have hats...There is also an argument there about materials used on hats and overheating...

I must Admit I noticed them. Squinting and wonder if they are allowed sunglasses

Not exactly Spain! Dd is 7 and has never worn hat or sunglasses in this country. She wears them on holidays, but that’s it. I never wore hat or sunglasses growing up either and I survived.

Maurepas · 02/06/2022 19:30

George in particular did seem to screw his face up quite a lot and I thought he was finding sun too bright for his eyes. I'm surprised if no one else noticed that.

Well I’ve been told 😂 Not a wind up seeing kids aren’t allowed out in the playground at school here without. Just coming on from a conversation with a friend commenting about all the adults out pushing prams wear hats and sunglasses and kids strapped in facing the sun with nothing.
MN can come and delete my unpatriotic thread if enough of you report it!

If you can get a toddler to keep sunglasses on then I take off my hat to you, and then you can try and get said toddler to keep that on too.

The 3 kids in sunglasses and sunhats would’ve been very amusing tbf.

Kate does like to dress them like twerps when they’re little. Talking about the youngest in his prissy sailor suit…

DisforDarkChocolate · 02/06/2022 19:34

I thought the same. They did not look comfortable with the sun a lot of the time.

I bet you won’t be able to buy a sailor suit for love or money next week. I like the way they’re dressed.

"The rest of the country are teaching their kids they don't have to hug family good bye"

I've never heard this before. So what are we encouraging kids to do instead?

orangetriangle · 02/06/2022 19:42

they were squinting at the sun so maybe they could have sat the other way round but they really were not out long My niece is the same age as Prince Louis and would have been wearing ear defenders for red arrows though

Beelezebub · 02/06/2022 19:43

This is what you get a crab up your arse about?!

Pallisers · 02/06/2022 19:43

I'm v amused at the idea that Camilla and Catherine's hats were for protection from the sun.

starlingdarling · 02/06/2022 19:46

A hat didn't even occur to me but I saw the carriage ride and said to DH "shame they can't wear sunglasses". It was just the way all three of them were squinting while they were waving. It looked so uncomfortable.

Royal boys have always been put in sailor suits but they hardly fly out of Next and Primark the week after.

I understand you, OP.
Did you mean there is a rule that royal children cant wear sunglasses and hats?

viques · 02/06/2022 19:50

Thank goodness Sophie Wessex made her 17 year old wear one of her old castoff hats. Good to know someone in the Royal Family knows about sun safety.

Meghan wore a hat and didn’t set foot outside, now that is weird!

Comedycook · 02/06/2022 19:52

I rarely see kids wearing sunglasses even on the sunniest days. You are being absolutely ridiculous

Disneyblueeyes · 02/06/2022 19:54

I'm sure they'll live.

Badtasteflump · 02/06/2022 19:56

Yeah OP I really worry for those poor children 🤣

florafoxtrot · 02/06/2022 19:56

This is why you’ve turned against the royals. Ok then.

daisychain01 · 02/06/2022 19:56

The very definition of the Special Snowflake brigade

You didn’t mention that no one was wearing masks.
