Royal kids not wearing hats or sunglasses

So on the carriage trip, Katherine and Camilla wearing big hats and the 3 kids squinting uncomfortably in the sun. No sunglasses allowed or hats. Seems cruel to me. Along with the expectation that they have to shake hand with strangers when the rest of the country are teaching their kids they don’t have to hug family goodbye if they don’t want to to teach bodily independence. Used to be pro royalty, definitely not these days.

So you’re saying that it was the shock of seeing 3 kids without sunglasses that turned you into a sniping republican? 😂

MargaretThursday · 02/06/2022 18:33

And if they had been wearing hats and sunglasses you'd have been complaining that they weren't really visible and how dreadful they'd obviously been forced into them.

I've just been out up the park where there's an event. There's loads of young children out there playing, and some of them have been out for a good amount of the day. There were only a smattering of hats and I don't think I saw a single pair of sunglasses on a child. It's not that hot.

JustFrustrated · 02/06/2022 18:33

Fucking hilarious.

I've spent the day outside today. Only DH and I wore sunglasses, and none of us wore hats.

Definitely the adults choices for them, and the kids choices for them.

Get better things to froth about. Absolutely pathetic.

Well I’ve been told 😂 Not a wind up seeing kids aren’t allowed out in the playground at school here without. Just coming on from a conversation with a friend commenting about all the adults out pushing prams wear hats and sunglasses and kids strapped in facing the sun with nothing.
MN can come and delete my unpatriotic thread if enough of you report it!

Where the heck do you live that kids have to wear hats to go out and play and you never see kids in hats just their mums and dads?

Hugasauras · 02/06/2022 18:34

I like that this is the thing that makes you not want to be pro-royalty Grin

Floralnomad · 02/06/2022 18:36

I’m not sure Camilla and Kate were wearing big hats to keep the sun off 😁

ScarlettOHaraHamiltonKennedyButler · 02/06/2022 18:36

Oh for goodness sake it's a formal occassion who would dress their children up in lovely suits and dresses then plonk a pair of sunglasses and a hat on them? It was for hardly any time at all.

Shaking hands is totally normal and they will have to shake a lot of hands in their lives so best get used to it. They are well protected by their security so not exactly at great risk from these people.

Nothingiseverything · 02/06/2022 18:36

I don't support having a royal family at all but with all the legitimate objections I can't believe this is what you are judging them for.

Onwards22 · 02/06/2022 18:36

I don’t think you’re unpatriotic but it sounds like you have too much time on your hands.

All parents are just trying to do their best and I’m sure they had suncream on.

SpringRainbow · 02/06/2022 18:40

I must admit, I have never been able to successfully get a child to keep hats or sunglasses on. Or scarves or gloves thinking about it.

Only just about managed coats.

ExtremelyDedicated · 02/06/2022 18:40

Surely

Ewi · 02/06/2022 18:41

On a list of all the terrible things associate with the Royal family this is not a one to stress about!
Formal occasion and the kids probably didnt want sunglasses and probablt had sunscreen on, none issue.

Oblomov22 · 02/06/2022 18:41

Eh? How long do you think they were in the sun for? 15 minutes. Get a grip!

ExtremelyDedicated · 02/06/2022 18:41

Surely shaking hands is just part of life for everyone. As for hats/sunglasses, not needed.

Rubyroseyposey · 02/06/2022 18:51

Get a grip. Have no interest in RF but this is just sad.

MamaWingsIt · 02/06/2022 18:57

Christ is this actually even worth a thread? 😂 God forbid you ever bumped into me in a park when I'd left my children's sunglasses in the car 🙄

Emmelina · 02/06/2022 18:59

The kids didn’t seem to mind, looked happy enough smiling and waving! And I’m sure their exposure time was very small.
I was a little concerned they didn’t have ear defenders for the flyover, though. They have been photographed with them before, I don’t see why they wouldn’t have been allowed. Louis particularly was upset by the noise.

So.many people.aren't aware of the damage the sun does to eyes as shown by this thread. DD always wears sunglasses when it is bright

GirlInACountrySong · 02/06/2022 19:01

I'm sure if princess Charlotte had wanted a hat or sunglasses then she would have been wearing them!!

Doesn't look like a kid I'd argue with!

GirlInACountrySong · 02/06/2022 19:01

Kids sunglasses are just plastic accesories

PAFMO · 02/06/2022 19:04

Ahhhh, so in your own words, you're unpatriotic.
Nothing whatsoever to do with suncream.
Shouldn't be deleted, should stay to show everyone how embarrassing you are.

The primary school playground is virtually opposite our house. I’ve never seen a kid in a hat or sunglasses. Not one.

toomuchlaundry · 02/06/2022 19:08

I am quite strict about hats in our family, but DF had skin cancer on the top of his head and my head always burns where my parting is. But for the short time they were in the carriage I wouldn't have worried. I would have expected hats if my DC were in the crowds and so exposed to the sun longer
