First lie already, he says he got a bigger mandate than 2019. Incorrect. He didn't. 66% then, 58% now. I'm going to call him LJ from now on.... Liar Johnson

The other part of that lie is that he subsequently got rid of a lot of moderates who didn't like him. Then we had the GE and all the eager new red wall Tories trotting in, ready to do their master's bidding. So for his mandate from the part to be lower than in the 2019 leadership election is very telling.

He was on either on something last night or he'd been crying. Which is most likely?🤔

ClaudineClare · 07/06/2022 08:22

Party not part.

DowningStreetParty · 07/06/2022 08:32

Agreed, this is a grassroots, nationally-felt plea for honesty and integrity. Its power lies in the fact it isn’t centrally led or putting forward any one individual. It’s a loss of faith from all sectors. The Tories should never have allowed Boris Johnson anywhere near the party leadership given all his previous sackings and now it’s biting them very hard on the arse.

Coercion, threats, what about bribes?

Tory MP tells constituents he voted for Boris Johnson after securing a review into funding for his local council

Ofcourse a review means nothing and words are cheap.

Because the Prime Minister can be trusted to deliver on his word? They are almost comically stupid.

But its no surprise that we have been reduced to pork barrel politics.

DuncinToffee · 07/06/2022 15:34

Bob Seely's reply proves your point

Sam, FYI, promise of support to IW Council made 3 years ago to me by PM, about which I reminded Gov’t yesterday. I’m making sure Gov’t delivers for my constituents. I’m doing my job as the Island’s MP, putting my people first. Unashamed to do so. It’s my job.

He has been waiting 3 years already!

People who know him are implying it's the former:

^If there’s a No 10 briefing today and the briefer is not asked directly whether Johnson had taken any narcotics ahead of his interview with Sky News last night it’ll be further evidence of a soft media in the face of a hack PM. Given his demeanour it is a legitimate question^

Parody Boris

Here is the line I have drawn under the controversy surrounding my leadership

Truss is the latest one to come out with the "Time to move on" mantra. I'm beginning to wonder whether Boris's rivals aren't doing it deliberately, in the certain knowledge that the one thing most guaranteed to ensure that no-one moves on is to tell them to do so.

Blossomtoes · 07/06/2022 17:43

Get a load of this. They’re fucking desperate. Talk about self destruct.

Wow, that is very direct from Alistair Campbell. I did think Johnson was a bit hyper but thought it was relief. Who knows.

DuncinToffee · 07/06/2022 19:01

Spot the difference

Boris Johnson won his vote of confidence with 59% support - less than Theresa May who won in 2018 with 63%.

This is how Conservative MPs reacted to both votes.

I’m following the thread but haven’t posted before. Home alone tonight (hooray) so re- watching The Crown on Netflix. Series I episode 4 , it seems Boris is definitely channeling Churchill.

balalake · 07/06/2022 20:30

@Slingsanderrors If Boris Johnson had been Prime Minister in 1940 onwards the Nazis would have conquered/occupied part of the British mainland, if not all.

In what way? Having issue with substance abuse? Being a racist?

ClaudineClare · 07/06/2022 20:35

Issues not issue!

Peregrina · 07/06/2022 20:45

If Boris Johnson had been Prime Minister in 1940 onwards the Nazis would have conquered/occupied part of the British mainland, if not all.

The Wartime Coalition had enough sense to give a weak PM the boot.
Then the electorate chose to give the successor the push, when the vote was finally restored.

Peregrina · 07/06/2022 20:49

"Other allies of Johnson said drastic action was needed to restore discipline, such as sacking anyone on the government payroll who remained conspicuously silent on Monday while colleagues tweeted their support.

They should have followed his example - tweeted their support and then voted against him in the ballot. Because lies are OK, aren't they? Grin

itsgettingweird · 07/06/2022 20:55

"Other allies of Johnson said drastic action was needed to restore discipline, such as sacking anyone on the government payroll who remained conspicuously silent on Monday while colleagues tweeted their support.

They just can't see it's these attitudes which are scary.

Basically they are bribing people with jobs to support the PM publicly.

I'd love to hear an employment tribunals take on that!

Blossomtoes · 07/06/2022 21:00

Patel was very quiet. Dare we hope she’ll be sacked?
