They have a rep for being the friendliest of cats ?

Ours is just lovely, thick as two short planks ( sprawls on his back, legs akimbo, falls off the sofa on a regular basis) but utterly gorgeous. He is adored in this house, loves a scritch under his chin, really cuddly.

They are a pair of fuckers. But I do love them.

I had a female ginger cat, which is meant to be very rare. She was the loveliest and most curious thing. I am not a cat person, but I miss her lots.

Same here, I also had a female ginger cat. She was a great character and I still miss her loads.

Really interesting to hear them described as maternal. My ginger girl is not terribly cuddly, hates being picked up and runs and glares if you try to stroke her (except for that dangerous 10 second window she will begrudgingly accept a tummy rub...if you're brave)

But when the kids are asleep she goes upstairs to their rooms and watches them, it's like she's looking over them 🥹 not keen on being touched but does love to be with us most of the time.

However. He's the friendliest knob head in the world. He loves people and will pad at your lip/eye/any exposed part of you at 4am because he wants cuddles.

I want him!!

We have ginger Maine Coon brothers. One is sweetness incarnate and his brother a moody wanker. See if you can guess which is which.

Grin omg this pic is pure gorgeousness!!

My beautiful boy is so mellow and so calm and affectionate around the children. He will snuggle up to all of us he's incredibly bright too.
He is patient with my rambunctious 2 year old and just walks away if he begins to get too rough.
I had a black and white cat too growing up that was so clever I swear she had a human soul! If my parents shouted at me she would hiss at them, she knows how to ring the doorbell, she would look at ke liek she just knew what I was thinking..I miss her terribly.

Neighbours ginger fluffy cat is absolutely terrorising our little dog to the point my dog is being injured . Cat has now taken to entering our home and trying to attack us . Fucking thing is relentless.

newtb · 26/03/2023 21:58

Was a complete bastard. Very long paws, used to jump up and open doors. Tried to blind our elderly Maine Coon. Went on a 1-way trip to the SPA to be adopted.

reddingweddy · 26/03/2023 22:09

Next door but one have a huge ginger and white lad who is the most terrific flirt. He comes up and wheedles til you fuss him and then because you've rubbed his chin he begs for more and rolls about on your feet until you give in. He is also very dim and once tried to get into our house through an open window even though he was about ten times bigger than the gap.

Kam610 · 26/03/2023 22:14

I have 2, and they are the friendliest cats I've ever seen. Before I got them I hated cats! I got them as kittens. They are brothers and are inseparable. They have never hurt anyone. Have never scratched or bitten a human. They are so laid back!

Greengr · 26/03/2023 22:14

I had the best ginger cat called Flo, we really miss her.
She was a haughty girl!🙂

My two: gentle and loving to the point of soppiness.
Big Sam up the road: a bit of a bully.

Here's my ginger boy. He has a big personality. All the neighbours know and love him. He does his morning rounds saying hello to them all. He's very chatty, very cuddly. He tolerated having tiaras put on him when our daughter was younger. The staff at the cattery look forward to his visits. He is an utter dick in the early hours of the morning when the birds start singing in the summer. He starts shouting and flossing his teeth with my hair so I let him out. In the winter he's really lazy and is happiest in the dogs bed by the fire. I adore the little bugger.

He was a thug, he terrorised our neighbourhood, the postie hated him but i loved him. He wouldn't sit on you lap or let you stroke him, only the children were allowed to do that. Leave any food on the side and it was his and the little fucker would drink my tea. I miss him so much.

LilythePunk · 26/03/2023 22:43

I had one for 14 years. He was the easiest, most biddable uncomplaining cat ever. Now I have a neurotic needy and particular cat I realise what a great cat he was and I wish I had appreciated him more.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 26/03/2023 23:05

Ours is a vicious, bitey bugger. Cones looking for affection then attacks you when you give it. He's the only cat I've ever had that I actually dislike.

adhdpunchbag · 26/03/2023 23:12

Bopahula · 28/05/2022 23:12

He's a knob head.

Agree.

purdypuma · 26/03/2023 23:14

My 3 year old boy lives with my parents as he bullied my female to the point that she would only come home to be fed, not keen on other cats at all & very territorial. He's quite skittish & upset easily if strangers come in the parents house. Does not like being picked up & only wants to interact with my parents but he is loving on his terms & in his own way.

Sweet, placid, cuddly, affectionate, good-natured, humble, friendly to other cats, shy of strange humans, not the sharpest knife in the box, and rather greedy.

He had a bad start in life, which, I think, accounts for the greediness. I can’t blame him for trying to ensure he’s never hungry again.

All in all, he’s a darling - a complete teddy bear of a cat. We love him dearly.

user1471548941 · 27/03/2023 00:11

Mine is utterly babied by both myself and DH and he fully embraces it. He’s incredibly affectionate to the point of needy- he “guards” us at night, must always be in the same room, herds us to bed and herds us together if we are in separate rooms. If we cuddle each other however, he runs over and interrupts with his shoutiest miaow. Jumps on any available lap for a cuddle.

Very chatty, obsessed with where the next meal is coming from to the point he can get a bit bitey in the final hour before dinner, but that is likely due to his history as a stray.

I am very happy he is content as a housecat because he’s, again very similar many others, a bit daft and clumsy! Often falls off the sofa whilst asleep, once took a jump at a built in wardrobe (so nowhere to land…) and slid down the door and last week took a flying leap at the worktop only to land in my freshly baked cheesecake…. His antics are the absolute light of my life and we adore each other, though I think DH is the actual favourite ( he gets in bed for a spoon the morning!!!).

photos to show the ridiculous variety of daft poses we find him in!
