Just placemarking for lovely orange kitties!

BemoreDerek · 29/05/2022 00:54

He was huge, loving, playful and a total wimp, our long haired tabby who was half his size used to have to come and rescue him from any feline interlopers in the garden. He was a prolific hunter though and once threw a live frog in through the open window DH was sitting next to Grin

We had male ginger cats when I was a kid. One of the first pair jumped through the window into the twin tub washing machine, had to have the suds rinsed off him (not in the washer!) and understandably left home after that. His brother was fine. The one after that was mostly a nice cuddlesome cat, but would occasionally leap out from the bushes, and attack my legs - teeth, claws, not playing. He never ambushed my parents or older brothers.Confused

Our current neighbourhood has a little ginger female who is a voracious hunter - often seen carrying a baby bunny or squirrel. She refused to live in the house with her owners, so our kindly NDN put out a little house for her. Then a heated pad in her garage. Then of course the cat moved in with them... attacks her, but insists on sitting on her DH who is allergic to cats. Not a Nice Cat.

God love them, they are so stupid.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 29/05/2022 01:20

I say this with love! Best friend's ginger boy is large, extremely loving, very vocal and such, such an idiot.

polkadotpixie · 29/05/2022 01:32

My ginger and white boy was a massive fluffy arsehole who used to great you every morning by biting your legs. My neighbour's ginger and ginger and white cats were both sweethearts though

WhatsitWiggle · 29/05/2022 01:45

Our ginger girl is affectionate and very tolerant. She's not one for being held but will seek you out to sit on your lap or if that's not possible next to you. And if we're all out, she'll choose a bed to sleep on. She'll make biscuits on my teen daughter in the morning by way of a hello - after waking me up to demand breakfast of course.

She recognises the sound of my car and if she's out the front of the house when I pull up, she'll come running up to me before I've even switched the engine off!

Flimflamberdwidget · 29/05/2022 03:39

Ours is thick as mince, a total wimp about the hoover, a seat thief and drinks out of the toilet but he's really sweet and affectionate and although doesn't like being cuddled he loves to stand on you to get tickles and then settles down next to you on the sofa. He's also very equal opportunities and if he sits between dh and I he always manoeuvres so a bit of him is touching both of us, even it involves one weirdly stretched out paw.

I have had two. One as a young child who I adored. The other died at 14. He was very undemanding , a great hunter when young, and the children loved him. I now have a very highly strung neurotic female cat. I realise just what a gem our ginger cat was and wish I had appreciated him more. He never complained and was patient and accepting with a calm character.

FrozZen · 29/05/2022 04:03

I currently have 15 of them. Anybody want a ginger kitten?! In my experience, they are exactly the same as humans, some great, some awful. Two of them are lying on top of me right now making typing very difficult.

FrozZen · 29/05/2022 04:07

Cooking fats. Took ages to disentangle myself to take that!!

My first cat Whisky was a ginger male. Very friendly, very adventurous. Lived until 19 years. Lovely vat.

anotherbrewplease · 29/05/2022 04:31

Our ginger cat liked curry and would take a swipe at the dog (a pointer -so not a small pooch) if he walked past too close!

easyday · 29/05/2022 05:21

Huge Maine Coon who has a very loud chirp and meow. Loves tummy rubs. Always hungry. A big softee. Seems smart enough. My only complaint is his 4.30am alarm call - he meows, plays with the blind cord, bats my arm and eventually sits on me to get me up to feed him and let him out (cat flap soon to be installed).

Ours was The Best Cat In The World. A big ginger bugger who was excellent with children, consenting to be heaved around like a sack of spuds. Splendid ratter. He made eighteen years.

Mine didn't meow until he was 7 yrs old (his Tabby sister made up for it Grin) and went to the vet without her, he's not shut up since he got home!
He gets very jealous if I show her any affection and will try to barge between us.
He will beg for food even if he's just eaten and will steal from your plate.
Echoing other posters, he is a bit clumsy, can sleep anywhere, loves being poked and prodded, loves playing (mostly involving chasing balls of paper around).
We joke about him being part dog as he'll follow me around the house - especially if I go to the loo, and beg for dreamies.😻😻

Our ginger ninja is a great character.. vocal, affectionate and chilled.. unless he encounters our dogs.. he stalks them, corners them and the growls at them Grin

FairyLightPups · 29/05/2022 06:33

I've had two gingers in my lifetime and they've been a LOT more cuddly than my tabby or my black cat!

cherrybonbons · 29/05/2022 06:37

Evil little git who attacks my cat consistently and will come into our house whenever we have the window open and be quite aggressive.

The ginger cat I had many moons ago, on the other hand, was a gorgeous fluff ball of delight

bushtailadventures · 29/05/2022 06:39

Our boy was the soppiest cat I've ever had, and there have been a few. Loved being carried round like a baby, would cry when his favourite human wasn't home (was very annoying as said human was usually at school). He's still a bit of a legend here, even though he's been gone over 10 years.

autumnkate · 29/05/2022 06:41

Very very very friendly! Will sit on anyones lap to the extent we have to apologise to visitors! He is also very bright.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/05/2022 07:11

Stupid ginger bastard but very placid, if my kids were younger he would no doubt tolerate them dressing him up and pushing him in prams.
He likes to sit on my chest, purring and dribbling and has the audacity to be offended when I don’t like it.

The best, wee ginger cat we have us friendliest out of 5!
When we arrive home in the car, he’ll go to each door and greet everyone, if we go to the toilet and he’s allowed in he will muzzle your head from behind, he comes into our bed each morning and chatter away. If you stroke him he’ll literally flop to the floor after a few seconds.

He’s so ridiculously friendly! Adore him!!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 29/05/2022 07:19

Had three, female. Sweet, affectionate (far too much as she got stolen)
gremlin, mardy bad tempered flea magnet.
big, daft lump.
