What time do you eat dinner?

Time of eating doesn't matter that doesn't make sense. It's calories consumed v calories burned. Doesn't matter when you eat

Not sure if my 7.30/8pm counts as late or not but no I’ve never put weight on, excluding pregnancy of course, and I’ve been a size 8 since my teens. I’d probably be more tempted to start snacking if I ate earlier.

Depends. On a weeknight when the kids have activities then 7/7.30 otherwise between 5.30 and 6.30. At weekends usually 6.30pm. I think most people who eat later tend to do so because they’re working or doing a hobby first. I wouldn’t think that would mean you put weight on. I think it’s bedtimes rather than meal times that affect weight. As in those who go to bed later tend to snack more. No idea if that’s true but it was in the newspaper quite recently.

I always wonder this. I eat at 7pm usually. If I ate at 5 I'd be starving by 11pm. Also how do you eat at 5pm if you're working until 5pm? Do most people that eat at that time not work?

We eat between 7 - 7.30. I am overweight but I don't think it's got anything to do with the time we eat as my (adult) children are both slim. It's more to do with the fact I now work from home so no longer walk anywhere near the amount I used to and my 'office' is at the kitchen table near the biscuit tin.

Young children who take forever to eat so we generally sit down to eat between 5 and 6. I don’t like eating after 8 now

The later you eat the less likely you are to burn it off because you're in bed not moving etc

I do a fitness class one night at 5pm and another at 6pm. I cant eat dinner before them or I'd throw up!

And dh plays football until 7pm twice a week and goes straight from work.

Not eating after 5pm just wouldn't work for us

7.30. I don't finish work until 5.30 so no way I could eat any earlier. I'd count 8.30 as too late (just for me personally)

About 7. 5.30 is the middle of the afternoon. I don’t think I’ve ever met an adult who eats that early

baby eats with us, she doesn't go to bed until 10...we'll move it forwards if she ever decides to sleep earlier

Any time between 6pm (more likely at weekends) and close to 9pm depending on what time I get home from work, how long it takes to cook, if it's a gym/running club night etc. Ideally by 7:30 or I'm still too full when I go to bed.

How can you say that. Do you follow everyone round every day to observe their eating habits?

I eat when I'm hungry and prefer/need to eat more earlier in the day. I'm currently trying to loosely follow 16:8 which means breakfast at 10.30, lunch between 12 and 2 and dinner over and done with by 6.30/7, which is widely recommended for weight loss/control so it makes sense that people might gain weight if they eat later.

If I've managed to eat a decent amount of food for breakfast and/or lunch, I'll have something starter size for dinner and I don't get hungry later in the evenings either.

7/73 now kids are older and we can all eat one meal at the same time. When they were young it was 539 for them and more like 839 for us once they were in bed.

But you still burn the same number of calories in the day...
i.e. If I went for a run that burnt 400 calories at 5pm, then had dinner of 800 calories and 8pm, that would be +400 calories.
But if I ate dinner at 5pm and went for a run at 8pm, I would still be inputting/burning the same amount of calories...
