Not breakfast or lunch. Dinner / tea. Third (presumably last) meal of the day...

Your body burns alot of calories when you're asleep . Makes no difference when you eat . It's all about calories in vs out . If you're worried about what the scales are saying weigh everyday and do a weekly average . Takes in to account fluctuations.

Even calories in/calories out is more complicated than it appears. Conincidentally I've just listened to a podcast about this, which some might find interesting.

Around 6.30-7pm.

I have a young toddler too, but he hates sleep so would never be in bed for 6pm as I often read on here. Bedtime for 2 year old 8.30pm onwards

Blowyourowntrumpet · 25/05/2022 17:46

I eat around 7pm, DH eats around 9pm. He just heats it up

ProclivityForPyrotechnics · 25/05/2022 17:48

Dinner about 12..

Tea... about 8.30-9.30 it's late because DH is never home earlier than 8 and I work shifts

bumpermom · 25/05/2022 17:49

About 5:30 with the kids

fussychica · 25/05/2022 17:53

7.30 - 8pm. Used to be later when we lived abroad but got it back to a more normal time now.

easyday · 25/05/2022 17:55

I like to eat around 7.30, but my teenage daughter tends not to eat more than a piece of fruit for lunch and after 8 hours in school (and an hour commute home) is hungry so we eat at 6.
Which does mean about 10pm I'm hungry again (she's gone up to her room by then).

I find this question confusing op, you asked us what time we eat dinner and then have went on some crazy notion that you don't burn calories during the night. You do realise that your body burns calories just by working/living. Also the calories would get burned off in the following days by living, exercising etc. The time you eat has no impact on weight. It's all about what you eat and how much you move.

To answer your question we have supper anytime from 7pm/10pm.

It's not a "crazy notion" it's commonly recommended not to eat after a certain time of day to help weight loss. And I never said you don't burn calories, you can burn calories sleeping. Just not as many as even light daily activities.

I'm northern and have tea at 5.30. I have autoimmune disorders which means my metabolism is shite. If I eat any later I suffer that night and the following day.😖

Noglassjustthebottleandastraw · 25/05/2022 17:59

Its commonly recommended as a fad and myth but as a nurse I can assure you that's all it is.

artisanbread · 25/05/2022 18:01

7-7.30. DC aged 10 and 12. Both work FT and kids often at some club or another in the evening. I am thin,

Thinkbiglittleone · 25/05/2022 18:03

We eat about 16.00/16.30, it was to fit around our DS but we all prefer it now.

Thinkbiglittleone · 25/05/2022 18:04

And I always feel better and less sluggish the next day if I haven't eaten late on in the evening.

TenoringBehind · 25/05/2022 18:05

varies according to the day of the week

Monday 8:30 after getting back from exercise class
Tuesday - Thursday 6/6:30 because I’m going out to things
Friday 7 - to fit In with dropping off/collecting a child from scouts
Sat, Sun 7-7:30

my ideal is 6pm otherwise I get hungry and snack

newnamethanks · 25/05/2022 18:07

Never eat after 4pm.

RedSoloCup · 25/05/2022 18:08

5:30ish is preferred time here

What rubbish , I don't know many people who've not eaten by 6pm ! I like between 5-6 and not a night time picker

Depends on who you know I guess but I have defintely never eaten my evening meal at 5.30 and I know that it’s not the norm where I am. Kids don’t usually get in from school until 4.30 / 5 or even later if there are clubs, work doesn’t finish until 5/5.30 and even if working from home I have to then cook. Younger kids get fed at 5, and when kids are older 6.30 would be absolutely pushing it if they were starving. When we worked in the office I wasn’t home much before 6.45 and partner definitely wasn’t home before about 7.30 usually later.

dearhummingbirds · 25/05/2022 18:13

8-9pm. Don’t get home / stop work until gone 6pm. And then gym classes / sports or just need a bit of time before starting to cook, and I try to cook from scratch for most meals. We haven’t got kids yet though, so maybe that will change.

Nadiexox · 25/05/2022 18:13

6.30/7

Whataplanker · 25/05/2022 18:26

Usually between 5:30pm and 6pm. We are also northern and hungry.

Flippydip · 25/05/2022 18:35

Around 8pm. I get home at 7ish and put DS straight to bed.

It's impossible for us to eat earlier, but when we do eat with DS on a Sunday around 5pm, DH and I end up eating a second dinner as we get hungry. An early dinner every night would probably pile on the weight!

Noglassjustthebottleandastraw · 25/05/2022 17:59

Its commonly recommended as a fad and myth but as a nurse I can assure you that's all it is.

So if it's a myth then why recommend breakfast like a king and supper like a pauper? Also sumo wrestlers eat a big meal (their only one) just before bed to maximise weight gain.

RollOnWinter · 25/05/2022 20:11

Usually about 6pm

InFiveMins · 25/05/2022 20:13

Usually between 6:30-7pm.
