The great "who-dunnit"! Whose side are you on and why?

I'm sure her kids are delighted that the Peter Andre story is back in the news.
Cannot imagine how embarrassing this is for the older ones.

@BruceAndNosh

I haven't been following it that much but I recall an expert advising that he couldn't really see how RV's whatsapp info had been lost. Again, I assume the Court will be invited to draw adverse inferences but no idea if it will or not.

I think unless Steyn J expressly believes RV’s explanation for her side of the evidence being lost (which would seem unlikely to me but I am reliant on the press reports!) then she has to draw some inferences.

or possibly she will find that RV was complicit and the defence is made out regardless of disclosure issues. What I don’t think she will do is find that CR hasn’t proved substantial truth without placing those disclosure issues front and centre and dealing with them in some way. Maybe she will say she accepts RV’s explanation but other than that, I would think the case for an inference to be drawn is pretty strong.

like you, I am very interested to find out!

SpindleInTheWind · 17/05/2022 15:09

If RV says she's doing this 'for her children' then she's really scraping the barrel for excuses.

What about the Rooney kids? Peter Andre's kids? Rooney tried to settle this sensibly, and it ought to have nothing to do with the Andre family. But they've all been dragged into the Vardy Show.

ODFOx · 17/05/2022 15:58

I realise that I'm slow out of the gate but I've only just realised that this is going on.
Last I heard was when Colleen Rooney put out a social media post about things being leaked, and then said that the only account with access to her secrets was .......Rebecca Vardy's account. That was ages ago.
Did something else happen in the interim? Having read this thread it appears that Rebecca Vardy has admitted that others had access to her instagram (or twitter or whatever it was) account and that her account had been used to trawl for stories to sell in the past.
Has Colleen accuse Rebecca of something directly, or was the 'it's Rebecca Vardy's account' the extent of the accusation?
Thanks

nauticant · 17/05/2022 16:09

A juicy bit of cross-examination of an IT expert (from the Daily Mail's live reporting):

Messages between Rebekah Vardy and her agent which have never been found were 'manually deleted', court hears

Messages between Rebekah Vardy and her agent which have never been found were 'manually deleted', the High Court has heard.

Data expert Matthew Blackband was asked to explain the most likely explanation for the loss of WhatsApp messages exchanged by the pair in the days after Coleen Rooney's Wagatha Christie post.

Coleen Rooney's barrister David Sherborne asked investigator: 'What is the most likely explanation for the loss or deletion of that data?'

Mr Blackband says: 'Based on the information that's been provided I would suggest it's a manual deletion.'

SisterAgatha · 17/05/2022 16:42

She left early today. Felt unwell. After Jamie and Wayne had a spat about some he said she said business.

honestly it’s cringe

BoDerek · 17/05/2022 16:45

I can’t help but wonder where this will end up. Vardy is such a villain, I can’t imagine how she could show her face at any game or event after this. Treacherous conduct. Is she a fantasist who believes her own lies? How mortifying for her children.
And for what purpose? It isn’t as if she needed the money. What must it be like to live such a toxic existence?!

Caroline Watt too, what a disgraceful way to make a living.

ComDummings · 17/05/2022 17:15

RV was an absolute fool starting this case. Honestly, how could she not realise how bad she would come across? Plus all the lost evidence is a joke. If she had just cried about it and called Coleen a liar everyone would have forgotten about it within a week. Now loads of nasty things she’s done and said have been made public. Mega cringe.

SpindleInTheWind · 17/05/2022 17:26

I suppose RV could have a pantomime career ahead of her as Snow White's wicked step-mother; but I can't think of much else her D-list celebrity future holds apart from crappy magazine 'exclusives' and being wheeled out for the odd interview.

SpindleInTheWind · 17/05/2022 17:35

And actually, thinking about it, RV will have to watch what she says very carefully from now on.

@ODFOx RV is suing CR for defamation. CR has to demonstrate that what she said about RV is substantially true. The judge has already ruled that CR must show that RV had knowledge of what was going on with the leaking to the Sun, either that did it herself or that she instructed or encouraged the person who did. RV has already said that her assistant CW could have done it but that it's not her (RV's) fault. During evidence, CR's barrister is painting a colourful picture of RV and he is being somewhat successful in portraying the claimant as a manipulative, unpleasant person who can be economical with the truth, much of this out of RV's own mouth.

SisterAgatha · 17/05/2022 18:57

So Coleen is on the back foot from the start really, having to prove that RV was the one that did it. But RV herself has deleted, lost or destroyed evidence that allegedly proves it wasn’t her.

So not only all the terrible things coming, the Andres dragged in to it, all the agents and the mental illness and the lying under oath, she is likely to lose anyway? I don’t see how she can win if she has deleted the evidence that could have saved her - if she was innocent of course. Which she probably isn’t.

Except it wouldn’t have happened because no tabloid is interested in regular stories about the lives of people without money.

Jokes aside, it was treacherous conduct on the part of Vardy and she has deliberately hurt a lot of people. Yes they are rich people but they still have feelings and families.

I mean, I genuinely don’t understand the mentality that motivates a person to post daily instagram stories about themselves, the level of self-absorption is mind-blowing, but at no point does that give another person licence to betray their trust.

Vardy is hugely delusional and just all up a very unpleasant and spiteful waste of space.

The biggest injustice is that the woman who first tweeted the term Wagatha Christie hasn't earned a penny from it

She may have come up with the idea independently but she wasn't the first to tweet it.

Dauncets · 18/05/2022 00:03

Well Rooney obviously.

Also I know it's all celeb twaddle really but I am very much enjoying the various reporting activities around it and I think the writers are enjoying it all too. It must be a blessed relief for them to have something that isn't war, famine or pestilence to file copy on.

DaisyQuakeJohnson · 18/05/2022 00:34

Meh - they're all a bunch of spoiled brats. They all constantly sell and plant stories about themselves and each other. None of them are likable or principled.

CR is annoying me more atm. She seems either naive or disingenuous to say her Wagatha Christie moment wasn't meant as a big reveal for maximum impact. I think it's quite sneaky to make a big public declaration about someone in the hope it will be too difficult and time consuming for them to try to counter it and clear their name.

They should have had it out in their homes or on a pitch not on social media or in the courts.

TheMadGardener · 18/05/2022 23:06

Pam Ayres has spoken...

@PamAyres
Who will it be then, the Wagatha Queen?
Rebekah, d’you reckon, or maybe Coleen?
Who’ll be the winner, and who will have lost?
What of a friendship now covered in frost?
The doors of the courtroom are shut with a clank,
And the lawyers they laugh all the way to the bank.

@DaisyQuakeJohnson that's a really sexist take. They're not "all the same" any more than all the footballers are the same.
Colleen hasnt sold stories about anybody in her circle.

You dont have to admire footballers' wives, heaven forbid, but it comes across as the lazy internalised misogyny it is to label them "all the same"

BraveryBot9to5 · 19/05/2022 07:01

Also only one of them wanted to take this to court.

SpringIntoChaos · 19/05/2022 07:08

Georgeskitchen · 12/05/2022 18:52

Neither of them. Two talentless bimbos with too much (of their husbands) money

That's pretty mean...Colleen Roony didn't ask to be taken to court! No matter what 'talents' (or otherwise) either of them have, the fact is, Colleen has had to defend herself in a hugely public trial! Calling her a 'talentless bimbo' is fucking awful! Check yourself!

EspeciallyDistracted · 19/05/2022 07:17

Team Colleen here, RV should never have started this case and isn't coming across well. I am finding it absolutely fascinating but feel for their families (and that of Peter Andre).

balalake · 19/05/2022 07:23

Thank you Pam Ayres for speaking sense.

MichaelAndEagle · 19/05/2022 08:48

In what way is Coleen a bimbo anyway?

nauticant · 19/05/2022 11:46

More bumbling with bundles.
