The great "who-dunnit"! Whose side are you on and why?

OP posts:

Question, why hasn’t the agent in question been called to the stand?

Too emotionally fragile

Apparently she is currently under psychiatric care....

Colycola · 14/05/2022 23:33

Or she has taken a large sum of money to take the fall 🧐

Princessoftheuniverse · 15/05/2022 01:10

TidyDancer
Never forgotten what a vile bully she was on I'm a celebrity.

I don’t remember this. Please remind me. What did she do?

I feel really sorry for PA and his family. Just unnecessary and an indication of what RV is like.
Can’t decide if she’s saying sorry I said it but it’s true or sorry I shouldn’t have said it because it’s not true. Either way it’s awful.

Sceptre86 · 15/05/2022 08:05

Team Rooney. Vardy was selling stories to the Sun and there is messages to prove it. She is too faced and nasty. All the messages about how she hates Colleen and then when Colleen outed her she put out the statement about always liking her, she's a liar. I was annoyed that she was given a platform on loose women to talk about this when Colleen wasn't. She shed crocodile tears and lied again.

CR had every right to make clear that Vardy was selling stories, it isn't nice when someone in your social circle does it so why should she have been allowed to get away with it. It's a complete break of trust. It also caused her some stress thinking that one of her close friends or a part of her social circle can't be trusted.

Sceptre86 · 15/05/2022 08:06
  • couldn't be trusted even.

Is there some sort of rule that means they can't ask The Sun?

This is what I can't understand either! just order the sun to confirm either way. A judge could do that right?

ElaineMarieBenes · 15/05/2022 09:14

Well I’ve set aside Proust (much overrated - unlike this case!) and as I’ve been following since the original twitter scousetrap, I’m firmly on CR’s side. Have to add I’m also now a big fan of Wayne. I know he owes CR big time, but his handbag carrying into court is impressive (and he also autographed one of the court artist’s picture - showing a very compassionate nature imo!).

@SpindleInTheWind - there is no jury and the Sky news mention of ‘jurors’ is incorrect. There is a jury bench in the courtroom (for libel trials past!) but I understand this is being used as an ‘overflow’ press bench. Perhaps they see themselves as substitute jurors in this case (like the rest of us😉!).

MsMarvellous · 15/05/2022 09:45

CR's side all the way.

BruceAndNosh · 15/05/2022 09:54

RV's agent is too emotionally fragile because RV has thrown her under the bus (why does a WAG event need an "agent"?). Or she's been well paid to stay away.

My favourite exchange?
When Vardy began one answer by saying “if I’m honest …”, the barrister snapped back: “I would hope you’re honest because you’re sitting in a witness box.”

SpindleInTheWind · 15/05/2022 10:17

@ElaineMarieBenes thank you for confirming that there’s no jury.

Bloody Sky News.

frogswimming · 15/05/2022 17:45

Does anyone know who mrs f, mr g and mr h are?

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 15/05/2022 18:34

Def Team Coleen.

RV comes across so badly-selling stories about her "friends" and husbands team mates etc Throwing her agent under the bus, "losing" her phone.
I can't think why she pursued this because every time she opens he mouth it gets worse for her. So unlikeable.

She seems primarily interested in self publicity and being famous. and will trample on anyone to get there.

This is def the exception that proves the rule that any publicity is good publicity...

RebelNotHon · 16/05/2022 13:21

Side-stepping slightly. In defamation cases, the court won't empanel a jury as a matter of course. The court needs to be satisfied that a jury trial's required to dispose of the case correctly. For any legal nerds, the rules changed in 2013!

Journalists never reveal their sources. Absolutely sacrosanct principle in journalism and courts respect that in general, as it’s essential to a free press.

Courts are able to order they do but there would have to be an exceptional reason - national security, prevention of a serious crime etc. There are some criteria set out somewhere I believe.

ElaineMarieBenes · 16/05/2022 15:57

@Sharrowgirl i understand it’s the Contempt of Court Act 1981 (clause 14)

Ferngreen · 16/05/2022 17:34

Could the agent be called and would she say she accidentally lost the phone under oath. Who else was on the boat- any witnesses?

The agent is apparently too ill to attend court.

RV - another rich person laughing at the law.

Resilience9to5 · 14/05/2022 08:47

I think the posters who dismiss them both as spoilt children miss that human nature is the driving force behind all of this. Money doesn't change that.

Desire for privacy, the shock of betrayal, those feelings are fundamental and common to all whether they earned their money discovering a cure for the common cold or through their range of clothing.

Privacy, betrayal, justice versus injustice, ego versus acceptance.....

It could just as easily be two academics arguing about whose name went first on a paper or who two song writers claim one stole the other's idea.

Totally right!

All walks of life are capable of falling victim to a petty spat, airing personal grievances and oneupmanship. Most people have the common sense not to put it through a court process though.

kirinm · 17/05/2022 10:15

As a lawyer, I am intrigued as to how the judge is going to deal with the evidence being "lost". At the outset of the claim, the parties will have been warned about having to retain evidence. I suppose the Agent is a third party and wouldn't have the same obligations - not until the court ordered disclosure of her phone info.

You cannot disclose what you do not have but I have never had a situation where such crucial evidence is suddenly "lost" after being ordered to disclose it. There have got to be adverse inferences drawn from all of the evidence suddenly disappearing.

BruceAndNosh · 17/05/2022 11:40

The agent is a third party but RV also 'lost' info when a lot of her WhatsApp messages mysteriously disappeared when she was trying to back them up...

kirinm · 17/05/2022 11:50

@BruceAndNosh

I haven't been following it that much but I recall an expert advising that he couldn't really see how RV's whatsapp info had been lost. Again, I assume the Court will be invited to draw adverse inferences but no idea if it will or not.

Ferngreen · 17/05/2022 13:36

What annoyed me was RV quoted as saying she was doing this for her DCs. I presume she means that she was proving that they don't have a mother who cliped to the papers on a friend.

But that really shows up how disingenuous she is - how can this carry on and all the suspicious loss of evidence etc be better for her DCs than not going to court at all.
It seems like attention seeking for RV with no consideration for her DCs.
