WEIRD PHOBIAS

I want to hear them....not your run of the mill dentists, spiders, heights, clowns, etc

The weird ones...

KETCHUP...otherwise known as "Mortuusequusphobia"

Began with the crust that forms on the top of a bottle...absolutely turns my stomach. Don't particularly like crusts on anything (old hand creams, mayonnaise etc) but ketchup really tops them all. The smell, the sight. My husband kindly moves any bottles away from tables at cafes/restaurants 😂

Don't get me started on those sachets that have the potential to burst/explode if pressure were to be exerted on one!!

I can't stand people touching my finger nails. It actually makes me angry 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have no idea why though or when it started.

swimtree · 28/05/2022 22:56

The inside of lockers at the swimming pool. Reminds me of films where someone is kept hostage in a terrible dirty lonely place and by putting my stuff in there I'm getting contaminated with that situation. Every time. It tarnishes the swim experience a bit.

fuzzywuzzywombat · 29/05/2022 11:32

Those creature worms that live in bananas. They wrap themselves round my finger every time and WILL NOT flush down the plughole when you wash them off frantically.
They are worse than any monster off Dr Who

KittenKong · 29/05/2022 13:17

What? What????? Banana Worms???

fuzzywuzzywombat · 29/05/2022 20:10

@KittenKong the little stringy bits in banannas. Not actually worms. But I still hate them

KittenKong · 29/05/2022 20:58

Phew! I call them banana bogeys…

beallrightdahlin · 29/05/2022 21:08

Is that misophonia? I have it. It’s AWFUL.

I hate bananas but as a nanny feed them to kids all the time.

What?!

Oh I should have read further 😂 you save me from nightmares. But I agree with you, they're gross. All part of the reasons why I don't like bananas, it's a sensory minefield

It's interesting how the size affects your fear.

I'm still scared of them no matter what, but seeing is coiled makes be react much harsher than seeing it doing it's thing walking along. I don't know why. My fear response is much greater when it's curled up doing absolutely nothing 😂

I've had to stop buying the black coil hair ties like these (just buy clear now) because of the number of times I've lost them and they've fallen behind furniture and I've suddenly found them under a bedside table and jumped out of my skin. It's just not worth it.

The mind is such a weird thing as times. Coiled doesn't bother me at all. I was in Kenya & the floor is littered with millipedes, most curled up. They don't bother me. There's something about the fluffiness of little ones & the way they move that turns me to jelly ... feeling it just typing that 🥴

I've a 19 yo DD, I'm forever having a heart attack over the eyelashes she leaves lying around or the cat thinks is a toy🥴😂

Noting that I will never visit Kenya 😂

Saw this post on Facebook a while back and I identify with this so much, I live alone and would probably do the same

I can’t even think it without retching but I’m scared of cotton wool.

Pennythoughts28 · 05/05/2023 01:54

I have a few 🙈
a extreme phobia of losing my hair ( altho I did when I was 21 and had to wear a wig and altho all my hair grew back I've lived in fear of it happening ever since
Phobia of weeds like In garden
Andnot really a phobia of things grouped together but they make me feel so sick 🤢 for example inside a beehive it's called trypophobia, my friend wore a spotty dress on Monday when I met her for coffee and honestly my stomach was turning 🤢🤢 she looked beautiful as always it was just the spots on her dress , I can't even think about it tbh

Pennythoughts28 · 05/05/2023 01:57

O and Ib
Ve also developed a phobia of covid 🙃 I've always been a bit of a hypochondriac anyways but last few years have been really bad for me 😭
