  1. Guidance on funerals, ash scattering and wakes based on (COVID-19) Coronavirus restrictions: what you can and cannot do (as of 12 April 2021) As of 12 April, Step 2 of Roadmap allows up to 15 people to attend commemorative events such as wakes. Step 1, introduced 8 March, allowed 6 people to attend wakes. Funerals and linked commemorative events • Funerals are allowed with limits on attendance, and must only take place in COVID-secure venues or in public outdoor places. The venue manager or event organiser must take the required precautions, including the completion of a risk assessment. • Funerals can be attended by a maximum of 30 people and may take place indoors. • Linked religious or belief-based commemorative events, such as wakes, stone settings and ash scatterings can also continue with up to 15 people in attendance in venues permitted to open. • Anyone working is not counted in these limits. Social distancing should be maintained between people who do not live together or share a support bubble. There is furtherguidance for arranging or going to a funeral during the coronavirus pandemic covering requirements that must still be followed and relate, for example, to mourners who are self-isolating and to mourners who have come from

Well - according to this from 1 April 2021 30 people could attend a funeral or wake indoors so even if there was 30 for curry they weren't doing anything that the people who lost loved ones could do at a funeral - as opposed to when you couldn't attend funerals - and Johnson was partying.

Twitter bots are already busy spouting speech is an attempt to influence the outcome of an ongoing police investigation.

Course they are! No surprises there!

It's the difference between a man with morals, and a man without.

And there were only 15 as I understand it.

What a bizarre thing for a QC and former head of CPS to have done.

Surely commenting on an ongoing police investigation and offering his resignation if they fine him is highly questionable. He does sound like Zippy doesn't he.

Roussette · 09/05/2022 17:17

No. He doesn't sound like Zippy, whoever Zippy is. Hmm

How bizarre to show some morals in government! We've missed it so much

Exactly. The 30 was a plucked number to add to the media mania.

But even so. He didn't do anything someone who held a funeral couldn't do - so that puts water on the fire if those saying he exploited those who lost loved ones.

@JaniieJones

I would be exceedingly grateful if you could provide a handy guide as to who is and isn't allowed to comment on ongoing police investigations.

Clearly you are allowed to as you have several times. Am I allowed to?
Is Boris Johnson or does the ban extend to all politicians? Are newspaper and other media organisations allowed to? Could mumsnet be in trouble for hosting your post about an ongoing investigation?

Are you still sure Johnson should resign if Abba party is proven and he gets a fine? That's what you said further up other threads?

Surely nobody disagrees that any member of the government or opposition front bench should resign if they are found guilty of broken the law?
Why would one even have to ask that?

Don't forget she says Starmer is doing exactly the same thing

She still hasn't explained that while limbo dancing under that low bar.

L1ttledrummergirl · 09/05/2022 17:35

Nobody would have to ask that if those involved acted honestly and with integrity.

'I wish I could work out why Tory supporters are so excited about a planned break in the itinerary. Surely it demonstrates that they are telling the truth, i.e. that it was planned as a part of the working day. In 2021 this type of gathering for work purposes was fully permissible'

Oh well why not release it in the first place if it 'demonstrates they are telling the truth' the silly billies!

Why would they have to? The police have already said there was nothing unlawful about this. Are they supposed to "release" every document every constituency branch has ever produced about perfectly lawful activities on the off chance that at some point the Mail will want to stir up dirt about it?

Luculentus · 09/05/2022 17:45

It gives us a snap shot of their boozy culture of booze at 10pm no

A lager or two with curry during the course of a very long working day is hardly a boozy culture of booze. You must live a very, very sheltered life, @JaniieJones

DuncinToffee · 09/05/2022 16:14

Starmer: "The British public deserve politicians who thinks the rules apply to them, who hold themselves to the highest standards, who put the country first rather than themselves. They will always, always get that from me."

Starmer: "This is a matter of principle and honour for me. It's about who I am, what I stand for. And I stand for honour and integrity and a belief that politics is a force for good and we shouldn't just be dragged down by a belief that all politicians are all the same."

And the Mail are now wetting themselves about how they've actually managed to score a gigantic own goal against Johnson.

Nope. Not in the least questionable.

However, @JaniieJones, given your righteous indignation about this, I assume you have reported the Mail for its comments on an ongoing police investigation?

DuncinToffee · 09/05/2022 17:55

Was the limbo dancing at one of Boris' parties, i can't imagine he would get very low. The Gove on the other hand would be excellent at it, because he can slither anywhere.

There they go again using bereaved families for their own political ends. It really is despicable.

Pretty easy really. At the point when Starmer said Johnson should resign, we had had the redacted Gray report and incontrovertible proof that Johnson had broken the law. Johnson himself admitted it, he just said he didn't understand what the law meant. None of that applies to Starmer.

SueSaid · 09/05/2022 18:21

'No. He doesn't sound like Zippy, whoever Zippy is'

How do you know if you don't know who Zippy is? How can you not know who Zippy is Shock
