Just some fun - I always want to delete FB but some of the above keeps me hooked!

My pet peeves….

  • tagging in at hospitals and it’s is 100% nothing
  • Any post that contains the phrase ‘making memories’
  • ‘My Monday view’ and it’s usually a pool or beach - you are on holiday, you are not Jeff Bezos
  • Any photos of a poorly child coughing, crying, having been sick - usually with a lengthy text about how ill their child is ‘temp spiking 45degrees’ and all the comments suggest A&E to which OP will play down and ‘hope it’s nothing’ 😑
  • my MiL sharing posts of lost dogs (from Romania or the USA) he ain’t going to be up the park near us.
  • Anything that starts ‘share if you agree’
  • seasonal post Christmas trees with presents or just trees, trust me they all look alike I have the same bastard thing in my alcove to look at
let’s have them!!
OP posts:

This will make me sound heartless but the pictures of people crying with the comment 'this was me at my worst last year'. Why in that moment did you get a camera out and take a picture of yourself?

LOL 😂 I had one like this I actually called her out on it, she blocked me

I was actually gutted because her posts were so entertaining 😂

Totally agree ! Who cares 🤦‍♀️ although that pales into insignificance to many of the things described on here 😅

I think the worst ones for me are those really annoying posts where it's some question like... Which animal you see first in this picture will tell you everything about yourself! Or your mother's maiden name and birth town will reveal all about you! And it's always, always basically the same answer. 'you're loyal and you have a heart of gold but if anyone crosses you they'll know about it. You forgive but you never forget'. And then people post about themselves saying 'oh! This is so true!' I mean really?? What, for everyone??

I suspect a lot of those 'quizzes' are actually scams fishing for info to steal passwords, etc... a lot of the things they ask for (first pet, mother's maiden name, street you lived on) are common answers to security questions...

What’s driving the sycophants in these situations?

Are they scared of the bragger - as they hold some social power?

Do they actually believe it and are impressed with the bragger?

Is the bragger a tricky relative that they need to appease and they “like” the post but IRL are eye rolling?

Are they both in a tit for tat thing with “likes” for each other?

Why feed the nonsense with disingenuous “likes” ? Or maybe these types of posts are welcomed by others?

TigerRag · 25/05/2022 09:12

People who try to add you as friends because you have 40 friends in common. We've never talked. Those who add you and never make an effort to talk. Had to block someone because we never talked and he kept pestering me to ask why Id unfriended him.

God why do people post this shit! Absolutely no self awareness especially in times like this with so many struggling financially

I don't get it

Do they try to make others jealous?

Do they think they are better than everyone else and assume that because you haven’t posted you haven’t been on holiday, bought a new car or your DC passed their grade 7 clarinet!!

Or do they need emotional validation of their self worth from randoms online?

lollipoprainbow · 25/05/2022 16:48

@OuiWeeOui this is all on instagram she blocked me on Facebook for liking a comment someone had made about schools (her child is homeschooled and she is very vocal about the horrors of sending kids to school) her child is hashtag 'too cool for school'. Instagram posts are always her and her kid out at cafes/restaurants etc while her amazing rich husband keeps her !!

TigerRag · 30/05/2022 18:11

How everyone thinks they have ARFID / ADHD / Autism / Anxiety but won't do anything. There seems to be a lot of self diagnosis.

(and yes, I am well aware that getting a diagnosis isn't always that easy)
