Just some fun - I always want to delete FB but some of the above keeps me hooked!

My pet peeves….

  • tagging in at hospitals and it’s is 100% nothing
  • Any post that contains the phrase ‘making memories’
  • ‘My Monday view’ and it’s usually a pool or beach - you are on holiday, you are not Jeff Bezos
  • Any photos of a poorly child coughing, crying, having been sick - usually with a lengthy text about how ill their child is ‘temp spiking 45degrees’ and all the comments suggest A&E to which OP will play down and ‘hope it’s nothing’ 😑
  • my MiL sharing posts of lost dogs (from Romania or the USA) he ain’t going to be up the park near us.
  • Anything that starts ‘share if you agree’
  • seasonal post Christmas trees with presents or just trees, trust me they all look alike I have the same bastard thing in my alcove to look at
let’s have them!!
OP posts:

Feeling grateful/blessed/proud - standard way to begin a boast.

I hide annoying people. The worst person I can think of posts everything, every meal, outing, child achievement. It's a blog in minutiae. I wish she'd get some self awareness rather than seeking constant validation, and enjoy the special moments rather than wasting time blogging about them on real time to others.

BreadAndWater · 06/05/2022 03:13

Where people put ‘memes’ up describing the kind of person they dislike and the description is them !

Also when people say, got my haters watching me, helllllo 👋🏻

'Going for a sneaky Nando's'
Nearly as annoying as 'cheeky'
There is nothing sneaky about chicken, unless you go in disguise.

Tagging in the airport and 400 holiday photos. thank you for the useful updates says the local burglars. Following with invalid house insurance .
' not feeling blessed, holibobs with famalam has gone tits up. Checks into police station. Go fund me for a new air fryer '

Some of these are making me laugh! I've had FB on and off over the years but all these are reasons why I deleted it for good.
I find people better company in real life. Some friends had interesting, interactive fb pages (wall? profile?) that I would miss, slightly, but I see them in person often enough to have the conversations face to face anyway, which I prefer.
I did briefly fire fb up again as part of an international study group, and made a couple of local friends. They used to be 'study buddies' but we're past that now and mainly meet, though fairly infrequently now, for coffee and cake.
Fb does have it's uses but I found the irritation overrode those uses, for me.

I want to like other people, but fb tends to put me off them so I stay away!

That really made me laugh!

chocolateorangeinhaler · 06/05/2022 06:48

Hi 👋🏻 I've just moved to the area and need my house completely furnished if anyone has any brand new furniture and white food that they could deliver, install and to my taste

TIA

😡😡😡

chocolateorangeinhaler · 06/05/2022 06:48

*white goods

Peony15 · 06/05/2022 07:13

"In local neighbourhood groups...

I hear strange noises...usually turns out to be someone putting the bins out, mowing the lawns, etc etc"

This made my day 😂. I have been in fits of laughter so much I woke up the whole household /street. Not had a belly laugh like this for ages , thanks @Sagealicious , just brilliant.

The ones that make some ridiculous assertion, and then say “Prove me wrong” - for example - “book is the only word in the English language with a double-o in the middle - prove me wrong!”

Yes! I feel clever for about 0.0001 seconds 🤣

SpringLobelia · 06/05/2022 07:21

I have 2 on my fb I keep for amusement value. Both like to boast about how wealthy they are. One actually uses a hashtag like #lovelvingmortgagefree . Oddly enough you would think both are sensible people IRL but it is just boasty Mcboast on their fb. It's all about their new cars, exotic holidays, new extensions, new indoor pool.

But I think I am the sort of person people hate also. I mainly post memes about cats.

The holiday posts are really strange. I might (only might ) put pics after we are home, but never during. Oddly enough the ones who post holiday pics usually post them to their public page and/or have a 1000 friends. One of my fb friends helpfully posted that she and her DH were going to Antigua for 3 weeks. A few posts showing the finished result of their new cladding with a helpful view from the street.

Spudlet · 06/05/2022 07:29

The passive aggressive ‘I will never forget how someone treated me’ memes - like the one here. There’s someone on my Facebook who posts streams of the bloody things.

MangosteenSoda · 06/05/2022 07:35

Most of my friends on FB are boringly normal. I actually love reading the stuff the two batshit ones post.

Buffyismyaltaego · 06/05/2022 08:07

Thought of another one.

The weird virtue signalling where people find a wallet or some item and post it in public groups (always with with the personal info marked out...)

Cue lots of their friends commenting on what a good person they are and I'm silently screaming

"Their address is on the bloody license, just post it or drop it round. Drop bank card into the bank!!"

But they clearly want the public congrats for trying to locate the owner via a public group for the whole of the south with 2million members....

lurchermummy · 06/05/2022 09:13

Anything to do with Juice Plus, how much money that are making "from their phone" and endless photos of shakes - "lunch on the run" etc

Fizzyfish · 05/05/2022 00:29

Deleted fb 3 years ago, best thing I ever did and highly recommend it. Such relief and freedom to not be a part of that nasty, narcissistic cesspit any more. I know who my real friends are.

I've never had an account!
I'm on Instagram though and you do get a bit of this nonsense there too. I just mute people if they get too annoying and once in a while like one of their posts.

wonderstuff · 06/05/2022 10:02

I think the mute button is great! I have a few people I love to hate, my neighbours who post regular ‘so blessed’ posts and reports back on every school report (obviously her kids are amazing) makes me chuckle because I hear all the arguments she has with her kids she obviously doesn’t post. It’s intriguing this desire to show a perfect existence.

Deadringer · 06/05/2022 10:11

So proud of my boy, great report again. In other words the little bastard somehow hasn't been expelled yet. And yes making memories/feelinf blessed. Quizzes that only 17% of people pass unless they are a genius. It's always 17% and they are always ridiculously easy and there's always some twit that crows about getting 58% not realising that the quiz is just a way of shoving ads down your throat.

TalkingCat · 06/05/2022 10:44

Two things. When people post passive aggressive posts like "I know what you said about me, say it to my face next time." or "Say that about my son again and I'll smash your face in" or "you can't even be bothered to see your daughter on her birthday" and cue people saying "what happened?" and the person says "I'll PM you hun". For fuck sake! Why post such things and leave it like that? It's just a need for attention.

I also unfriended 2 people who post all these positive, love, light, angels, wiccan stuff yet they are the angriest and most unsettled and foul-mouthed people I've come across, talking about 'smashing your face in you fucking dog cnt', really angry and very aggressive stuff. Nothing about them is positive or light. So them posting those memes is absolutely ironic.

Just remembered I was unfriended by a "don't judge anyone" love and light, see the best in everyone, treat everyone as you wish to be treated wiccan who absolutely insisted Biden is a paedophile. I wrote on their post that it's wrong to accuse someone of something so heinous without proof, it makes light of actual paedophilia and victims, and it's pretty unwiccan to do so. Unfriended. If they're going to be like that then it's no loss.

TalkingCat · 06/05/2022 10:46

As for cats, it's illegal in Australia for cats to roam, just as it's illegal for dogs. Cats can be caught/trapped in someone's yard and taken to the pound if found wandering. So there are sometimes pictures up of a found cat (or dog) and it saves the owner the cost of getting the cat out of the pound.

How do you stop a cat roaming??

emmathedilemma · 06/05/2022 13:35

Did anyone else hear the helicopter? What is it doing?

Purpleavocado · 06/05/2022 13:45

The weird quiz shit that some people do, like "what are you 2 sides, good and bad", "the initial of x's soulmate is", and it's just some bullshit quiz that they then post all over facebook.
And the anti-vax, pro Russia bullshit that some people started posting, I took them right off my facebook, as they just seem deranged.
