What's your go to meal/food when you're feeling ill?

Assuming you're well enough to eat however!
Been feeling awful today with a headache , aching and bunged up.
My go when I'm always ill is two slices of granary or seeded bread, butter, marmite and two boiled eggs cut up and placed on top.
Always makes me feel a little better.
What's everyone else's?

Has to be fish and chips from the chippy for me

Sutherpear · 03/05/2022 14:30

Congee or leek and potato soup.
When I'm feeling sinusy I like something mega spicy to get all the gunk moving!

Super noodles! I know they are crap and I never usually eat them but they are such a comfort food when I'm feeling poorly! Oh and lucozade original Smile

ISpyCobraKai · 03/05/2022 14:32

Lentil soup with toast, I make the soup and freeze it.

LemonDrizzleSlice · 03/05/2022 14:33

Spaghetti bolognese, with lot of cheese on top.

Cactusdancer · 03/05/2022 14:34

My DM always used to make me the same dish when I was ill.
In a yellow pyrex pudding bowl, boiled egg sliced in the bottom a thick layer of mash potatoes with cheese sauce on top and a sprinkle of grated cheese.
Eating that watching Crown Court on TV would cure everything.

I always want tomato soup with bread soaked in it, even if I've had a stomach bug it's the first thing I want as soon as I can keep anything down - I always have a couple of cans in just in case! Normally I wouldn't fancy soup soaked bread.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 03/05/2022 15:15

Tomato soup with grated cheese sprinkled on top and white bread and butter or dippy eggs and soldiers as that's what my mum always made when I was poorly.

Ferntastical · 03/05/2022 15:23

If I can manage 'real' food it's boiled egg and toast.

If not, it's stewed apple.

MustBeThin · 03/05/2022 15:23

2 soft boiled eggs with soldiers. Soldiers have to be made with super thick white bread, buttered with lurpak and then folded in half and cut into soldiers. I don't have toasted soldiers.

If not that then tinned tomato soup with bread and butter.

MintJulia · 03/05/2022 15:25

Homemade Pea & ham soup and granary bread. Real comfort food 🤗

BeyondMyWits · 03/05/2022 15:27

Homemade carrot and yellow pepper soup... the "kids" have it as their goto now too... mum's magic soup....

hitrewind · 03/05/2022 15:38

Chicken and matzoh ball soup (or pearl barley if no matzo available)

Jewish penicillin, as my grandmother used to say when she taught me to make the family recipe.

Always have some tubs of it in the freezer so it's ready for a sick day.

MagneticRubberDucks · 03/05/2022 15:40

Miso butter noodles
or Tuscan vegetable soup

HerbErtlinger · 03/05/2022 15:42

Tomato soup with cheese on toast soldiers

JoeGoldberg · 03/05/2022 15:51

Oxtail soup with a bag of hula hoops chucked in and lots of buttered bread.

Or tomato soup with a cheese sandwich.

darlingdodo · 03/05/2022 15:58

Mashed potato with lots of butter and some gravy or tinned tomato soup with crusty white bread and butter.

Snoken · 03/05/2022 16:04

Tomato soup and sourdough bread.

nearlyspringyay · 03/05/2022 16:21

Ready made mash with cheese me related on top

daisyjgrey · 03/05/2022 16:22

If any of us are ill and someone is dispatched to the supermarket to get supplies, they are always ready salted Walkers crisps, bananas, live yoghurt, plain digestives and ice lollies.

DolphinaPD · 03/05/2022 16:31

Depends what illness.

Chesty/cold/flu I like a hot curry.
General rundowness = chicken soup.
Hangover = fish fingers, chips and beans or McDonald's.

Shabbycoconut · 03/05/2022 16:31

Beige food. Chicken nuggets, waffles, fish fingers, hash browns.

Nosetickle · 03/05/2022 16:38

I can usually only stomach crisps, toast and apples are about the only things I can stomach when ill. I can’t stand anything with eggs or soup 🤢

Thestoppedfan · 03/05/2022 16:41

Potato waffles with cheese on top
