What's your go to meal/food when you're feeling ill?

Assuming you're well enough to eat however!
Been feeling awful today with a headache , aching and bunged up.
My go when I'm always ill is two slices of granary or seeded bread, butter, marmite and two boiled eggs cut up and placed on top.
Always makes me feel a little better.
What's everyone else's?

Heinz cream of tomato soup, two slices of toast.

DustyMaiden · 03/05/2022 16:52

How strange not feeling well today, have only eaten two boiled eggs on toast. Don’t usually eat them.

Take away. Any excuse!

Pastina always

BigFatLiar · 03/05/2022 16:57

Another cream of tomato soup here
Sometimes macaroni cheese on toast if there's a tin in the cupboard.
Otherwise whatever he feeds me

nokitchen · 03/05/2022 17:09

Chunky chicken and boiled rice

Daisychainsandglitter · 03/05/2022 17:31

Plain pasta with loads of cheese sprinkled on top.

dontgobaconmyheart · 03/05/2022 17:35

Abasic brown bread ham and cheese sandwiches and raspberries in jelly.

I think it's some bizarre throwback to childhood that I'd prefer not analyse too deeply but nonetheless it's always that!

VintageGibbon · 03/05/2022 17:37

Soup. Ideally home made but if not, Baxters country veg.

Justcashnosweets · 03/05/2022 17:38

Heinz tinned tomato soup and a cheese toastie. 😊

blackheartsgirl · 03/05/2022 17:42

shepherds pie made with the homepride jar sauce with mash and baked beans. Not the best but so comforting when I have a cold

YingMei · 03/05/2022 17:46

My mum's chicken noodle soup. Has to be hers though, nothing else compares.

breakdown19 · 03/05/2022 17:47

Has anyone said a ham sandwich and Heinz tomato
Soup?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 03/05/2022 17:55

Marmite sandwiches on the sort of cheap white bread that I would never usually eat.

Lemon squash.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 03/05/2022 17:56

Ideally my mum's roast potatoes with gravy in a bowl but since that's no longer an option, either chips, tomato soup or a bowl of mash and peas.

ELM8 · 03/05/2022 17:56

Soup, with bread absolutely covered in butter - feed a cold....

bluechameleon · 03/05/2022 17:57

Pasta, butter and grated cheese. Maybe with some frozen peas.

MintyGreenDream · 03/05/2022 18:00

Mcdonalds or boiled egg and soldiers

Antarcticant · 03/05/2022 18:02

BlossomWind · 03/05/2022 16:42

Heinz cream of tomato soup, two slices of toast.

Me too.

Chishnfips · 03/05/2022 18:03

Tomato soup with a cheese toastie or boiled eggs with soldiers.

Lemon squash or hot ribena

roarfeckingroarr · 03/05/2022 18:03

Past shells in a bowl of tomato soup with cheese on top and stirred in. 'Tis filth, glorious filth.

CorsicaDreaming · 03/05/2022 18:06

Chicken soup from a carton / pot if I'm feeling too tired to cook

Heinz chicken soup if I don't have any of the above in or have reverted to childhood.

If I'm feeling well enough to do it I make a noodle soup dish -

Dried fine noodles cooked up in chicken stock with chopped fresh ginger root, garlic, fresh chilli, and Thai fish sauce.
Then add frozen prawns, mushrooms, chilli sauce, something green (coriander leaf, mange tout, edamame beans, spring onions, or peas) and some quartered tomatoes. Lemon or lime juice squeezed in plus small sprinkle of sugar.
Simmer for a few minutes
Put in a big bowl. Eat and inhale the steam.

If it's something respiratory or sinuses then all the fresh chilli, ginger, and garlic really seems to help.

kizzywizz · 03/05/2022 19:41

Spoon food, anything soft that can be eaten with a spoon, cottage pie, fish pie, mashed up egg in a cup, all comforting when ill.

Madcats · 03/05/2022 20:42

If you have a head cold/bunged up (and are used to it) a decent Thai curry (not too creamy) or spicy noodle soup works wonders!

It cheers me up no end!

PukkaP · 03/05/2022 20:45

Scrambled eggs with cheese or poached eggs on toast
