What's your go to meal/food when you're feeling ill?

Assuming you're well enough to eat however!
Been feeling awful today with a headache , aching and bunged up.
My go when I'm always ill is two slices of granary or seeded bread, butter, marmite and two boiled eggs cut up and placed on top.
Always makes me feel a little better.
What's everyone else's?

Definitely fish and chips if coming down with something. Can nip it in the bud.

If already ill - tomato soup, and cheese and marmite on toast.

iklboo · 03/05/2022 21:04

Heinz tomato soup with a cheese toastie

Hot roast chicken sandwich with a packet of salt & vinegar crisps

Hot buttered toast

I can tell I'm coming down with something if I start craving orange smarties or jelly tots. Very weird!

WinterCarlisle · 03/05/2022 21:04

If it’s a cold - really spicy laksa or my homemade butternut squash and ginger soup
Noro type - salt and vinegar hula hoops, Diet Coke
General bug / virus - quorn nuggets, oven chips and ketchup

@hitrewind - oooh could you please post a recipe? I've not had proper Jewish chicken soup since I was about 11. My dad worked for a kosher butcher & his wife sent soup home when she heard I was ill. Got me through measles!

Plain pasta with loads of cheese sprinkled on top.

This is mine.
Kids are eggs and soldiers. Such a pain, I'm rubbish at it and it takes me loads of eggs to get them right for the soldiers 🙄😂

BookFiend4Life · 04/05/2022 02:17

Maruchan chicken ramen, orange push pops, or noodly eggs! That's scrambled eggs with cooked spaghetti and topped with parmesan cheese!

Suzi888 · 04/05/2022 03:05

Ready salted crisps and pop.

Cubangal · 04/05/2022 03:34

Tomato soup and crusty bread as it's easy to do when I'm too ill to cook.

echt · 04/05/2022 03:40

Heinz tomato soup is the form horse in this thread, and I'l join the queue saying so. Must have bits of bread floating in it.

Hot Vimto is an essential component of the full recovery.

Mumrey · 04/05/2022 03:52

Homemade chicken and rice soup with a bit of freshly squeezed lemon juice

Harrriet · 04/05/2022 08:38
